I fish with the dock demon all the time in the the pond and river near my house. The other fishermen always laugh at the little pole until I start reeling in monster catfish on it. It’s a fun little pole especially for the big catfish and bass. I’m glad to other people having fun with it.

What I love about it is it's not some high production thing with splashy intro's, scripted intro monologs etc. It's just you, your people, and a few cameras fishing and having a good time. I got the original Dock Demon with the spincast reel for my 6 year old as I didn't want to get him a kiddie Spiderman pole or whatever. After using it a few times, I was hooked! Awesome little rod. When they released the "deluxe" edition that is about 6 inches longer and has a spinner reel - like the one in this video, minus the Shimano obviously - game over! LOL I mean, seriously...$16 at Walmart. You can't beat that with a bat! I bought 3 and keep a couple in my truck in case we end up somewhere fishable and feel like tossing something in the water. Great and fun little rods that work like they are 3 times their size. Subbed BTW.

when i finish 90% of the time i release the fish because i do it for enjoyment of being out there, even if i dont catch anything i still enjoy being out there with a few good friends. glad to see you actually care about the release as much as the catch, i always feel bad when they swallow the hook or do something they die from.
I’ve used my first Dock demon rod paired with a zebco zse20 reel for years with 20lb mono. Now I have 2 Dock demons and put bigger reels on both. The OG now has a Penn Pursuit4 4000 with 30lb braid and the newer one now has a Penn Pursuit4 6000 with 80lb braid. They are fun AF. i never have to worry about "setting" the hook because i use 6/0 and 8/0 circle hooks. i let the fish do the work for me.
My wife used a Dock Demon, she loves it! She’s caught some nice sized fish off it. I personally don’t care for it, but I’ve used it in a pinch. It’s nice to leave in the back of the car Incase we see a pond we want to try out. There’s a lot of ponds near strip malls here. I’ll try out the pond while she goes shopping.

I swapped out the line to 30lb braid and we went carp fishing, people laugh at its size but his first fish was 18". After using it i 100% will use it while its not in use its just that fun of a little rod to throw around. I would recommend spending $10 for one. After seeing what we caught already with it I want to get some bigger carp or catfish with this little guy.
I took my dock demon and straped a BG 4000 on it, wrapped the handle with camo duck tape and went offshore fishing for Grouper and ARS...... It was hilariously awesome!!!! Still have it set up that way!!😂😂

How big of a reel can you throw on it? Planning on buying a couple to fish saltwater piers and worried that it won't fit a reel with strong enough drag. Also, anyone heard of people putting a baitcaster on the spincast version of the dock demon?
I bought the dock demon for my 6 yr old. I have also used it. Considering the price, it's actually a good combo. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another as my own spare outfit.
I always run into problems with those bells. They work wonderful but when you go to set that hook it seems like the bell takes away from the tension just enough for the fish to spit your bait. I like that set up tho, I have a dock demon i barely use , i think I might try and go catfishing with

If you're just starting out don't spend a ton on gear. Get a cheep Wal-Mart combo with a spinning reel (easier to use than a bait caster) and a TWO piece rod so you can fit it in your car. I used to carry a 6 foot (TWO piece) rod in the back of my hatchback with no problem. I'd also start out using mono line, it's much easier to use then braid and it's cheaper. One day you may advance to braid, but if you're just starting out don't over complicate it. As a kid I cought Hundreds of fish on a cheep $20 (I'm sure they're more now, this was 40 years ago) Wal-Mart combo. Have fun, be patient, and watch what fishermen around you are doing, that's the fastest way to learn! Good luck, you'll love it!

I've been using a 4' ultra lite Ugly Stik for carp fishing and man it's a blast.

Hey the Rod's are great. But the reels are junk. Just strap them with a good reel and I'd trust it to bring in a 50lb catfish.
