Hello Britt, I am a mechanical engineer and think your vernier caliper usage are incorrect. You should apply to the vernier caliper vertical and not horizontal to the object, as you need to measure the largest diameter which is often the outer case and not the bezel. Here are the digital vernier caliper measurements from my Rolex I just measured. - Daytona 116500LN = 39.9mm - GMT Master II 126720VTNR = 40.8mm - Skydweller 326934 = 42.2mm - Datejust 41 126334 = 40.6mm - Datejust 36 16014 = 35.8mm - Day-Date 36 18239 = 35.7mm - Oyster Perpetual 36 126000 = 35.5mm The largest difference between official and actual was GMT Master II, which is within 1.0mm. All the above models are within measurement error, and not a manufacturer's exaggeration.
@@BrittPearceWatches it’s really sad lol. Both my watches are 36mm and 39mm and I don’t feel insecure about it. They fit proportionally and that’s what’s most important with anything you wear.

Wow. I don’t think you’re measuring it wrong. For years I’ve thought my 116520 is small for a 40mm watch, just looking at it. Especially compared to my Sub and Batgirl, which feel so much more substantial on my wrist. And they are all supposedly 40mm! Thanks for pointing this out.
RIGHT?! I started overthinking this when I started wearing the pepsi for a couple of weeks. I kept thinking "I swear my Daytona didn't feel THIS big". But you know, there's so many factors that go into watch sizing, so I thought maybe it was the lugs or something. BUT I COULDN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT! So... I pulled out the callipers! And I just had to video my findings!
Daytona seems smaller for 40mm is that outer case sides are curved, whereas Subs and GMTs are straight, and it is caused by optical illusion. Same shall apply to most classic models such as Datejust, Day-Date, Oyster Perpetual and some professional model such as Yacht-Master, which the outer case sides are curved.
@@beeapple4824 There may well be one or more optical illusions. On my model (white dial) which is the last one before the current ceramic, the bezel is steel which I think blends into the steel case, contributing to the illusion of a smaller watch. However, Britt’s point is that the watch does not measure 40mm as advertised.
Yes, I understand Britt's point. But as I stated in the comment to Britt, my Daytona 116500LN (white dial) measured 39.9mm and not 38mm. Together with my other model I measured, they are slight difference with Rolex official specs but within limits. Rolex's official specs are correct as advertised.
I never realized how large my seamaster 300m was (50mm lug to lug) until I got my explorer 36. Most comfortable watch I own. That’s why the Daytona and submariners are always in high demand. The dimensions are perfect for most peoples wrists, while having a strong presence.
The most frustrating thing is that it's so hard to find them "in the metal" to "try before you buy" - not being accurate about the size sets people up for frustration. I've also heard that the Oyster Perpetual 41 actually measures in at 39.5. That makes it much more wearable - but it's so hard to find this info. Also - the Submariner 41 measures in at 40.5 compared to the old 11 series at 40.2.
So, I remember the video that you're thinking of. The new OP 41 is more like 40.6, but the old OP39 was also like 39.7mm. Numbers might be off, but I remember it being like a >1mm difference between the two. Now, while I maintain the OP39s were superior to the 41s, all that handwringing people did over Rolex making the watches too big was just silly. They're vanity numbers, like dress sizes and waist measurements.

Whaaaat! This has absolutely made my day! 😭💕💕💕 this is the best kind of compliment! Thank you so much and I hope you keep enjoying my weird little channel!
For someone with larger wrists, case widths are not as critical for me. I like all widths. It is the thickness that is principal concern. Not being able to button a shirt cuff because of a ⌚ is really annoying.
Britt, the Daytona is one of most exaggerated over exemplified watches! One need prescription magnifying glasses, just to read the dial text and sub dial’s, microscope text! No Date window, for me it’s one of the most ugliest watches ever made! Patek Aquanaut is beautiful and a true masterpiece!
Britt you’re not crazy. I have a Datejust 41 and it is 39.5 mm if you measure from 9 to 3. It always bothered me how many reviewers would just say it’s 41 mm diameter.
You know! I’m so guilty of this! I just go to the Rolex website, and write what they say, believing it is accurate! But it seems like, from the comment section, the only ones that are true to form are 36mm Rolexes 😂🤷🏻♀️
I actually measured 39mm on my DJ41 which I have sold. I keep telling my AD that it's actually 39mm but they insist that I measured wrongly and I should just trust what Rolex stated in the dimensions.
Wish I had known this. I sold my Omega aqua terra 41 because it was too big on me. I never considered the DJ 41 because it said it's 41mm and I now know a non dive bezel watch needs to be 38-39 on me. So I ended up with a 38 AT (which is great)... but I would have considered a DJ 41 if I had known.
Crazy no one has picked this up! When I went to see the OP34 it felt smaller than 34mm and I guess this is why! It’s not 34mm lol. Thanks for this video
RIGHT?! You know! I was debating between OP 34 and DJ36 and I remember feeling like there was more than 2mm in there! 😂🙈 YES! The OP34 is more like an OP 32! 😂
Wild that I just found this video Googling for "why is my Daytona not 40mm" because I just measured it today. Also, pretty crazy I have the exact same plastic caliper you have. If I try to measure 4 to 10 rather than the bezel at 3-9, which you really can't because of the pusher, so it's more like 4:20 to 10:20, I can get maybe 39.5 +/- but it's hard to be exact with this because I catch the beginning of the lug. I don't know - to me, I'd call it 38.3 because any other measuring seems arbitrary. Thanks for the vid.
This is actually very common practice among many industries. Just think about TV's or even down to basic dishes or trays. There are standardized sizes that already exist and the exact measurements for each product are not search optimized. So brands end up marketing to established industry standards. When you're a company as old and as successful as Rolex, literally owning 1/3 of global watch sales, every advantage comes into play. While other brands can afford to just have their watches researched and pined over every detail to sell to the right customer, Rolex are marketing especially successfully to non-enthusiasts, many of whom will just purchase based off of the most basic qualifications.
Yep, not only that, the different metals for the Daytona are also differently sized. Some of the precious metal Daytonas are larger, and I’m assuming that’s the newer case design. I have a feeling a lot of chronographs are this way, because the speedmaster professional is known to have a 40mm bezel, with a 42 mm case (which extends past the bezel)
excellent vid! youre 100 percent correct about the op 34. seen posts about it being smaller. rolex is known to not have the exact same measurement as advertised , op 41 for example is actually 39mm
Now I finally understand why the Daytona isn’t for me. I have always felt it was too small. Not it is confirmed. It’s not a Karen complaint at all. It’s an important measurement.
Right?!?! I always just thought it wore small because of the small lugs! (Which is absolutely a contributing factor!) but no, the case itself is not 40mm lol! I was wearing the GMT MAster 2 a lot the last couple weeks and I remmeber thinking "This feels so much bigger than my daytona!" and now I know why lol
@@BrittPearceWatches As a fellow watch geek, I am very glad to finally understand why that watch never spoke to me. I beautiful to look at. That is for certain. But, my sweet spot is between 40 and 42.5 with a lug to lug no more than 50.
I've only ever tried on one Daytona, not that it's even in my price range, and I also felt it was small when I put it on. Now I know why it felt and looked that way. Again, out of my price range but I walked out of the AD that day thinking I wouldn't buy it if I could. It just didn't feel good on me.
it’s possible they experimented with changing the size on their website and found that sales went down by a statistically significant factor. so they just reverted it back to 40mm. similar to your theory, but it would’ve been backed by data and the exact psychology behind it could be any number of things
“Vanity sizing” for the watch? I guess some people hate the idea that their actual clothing size is bigger than what is listed, and some guys hate to think the watch that looks good on their wrist or is “a man’s size” is smaller.
@@BrittPearceWatches and you can remind the size skeptics that the “dirty dozen” watches, produced for tough military men and operations, were generally 36mm
When I saw the 38mm on the calipers, I was about to ask you, where exactly you bought it. Rolex doesn't have portable shops at the beach... But jokes aside, I didn't know the Daytona was 38mm Great video, learned something today!
You didn’t do it wrong! It’s just confounding! 😂 Yet another reason you should try a watch before buying it. There’s sometimes a difference between the marketing spec and the technical spec. And between case width, thickness, lug to lug, bezel angle and shape, lug angle, length, and shape… it’s almost impossible to know how a watch will fit without trying it on.
VU BUI! YUPPP! This is all so perfectly said! So many people base their opinions on a watch based on the case diameter. But there are so many other factors that go into the wearing experience!! As you say: IT NEEDS TO BE TRIED ON!
No idea what the correct way is to measure it, but... 1. Rolex definitely fluffs their numbers. The OP41 famously measures only about 39mm, and the 34, like you saw, is actually only 32 and change. Even the new Submariner is more like 40.5. 2. I have smallish wrists, and I've always had a preference for smaller watches. The Daytona is one of the few mechanical chronographs that doesn't feel like a huge chunk on my wrist. I wish more chronographs were available at a similar case width and height. 3. I'll never own a Daytona, but if I did it would be yours... the black on black to me is the best one.
I have found the same to be true about many of my Rolex watches. My Omega's run true to size. The one that shocked me the most was the difference between my 34 Date and 36 DateJust. My DateJust is smaller than 36mm, measuring 35.7mm. My Date however measures larger at 34.6mm, and all other dimensions, including the bracelet, are only 1mm smaller than my DateJust. They both wear almost the same on wrist.
36mm is a Gentleman's size - when I look at my wrist, I want to see both the time and some of the amazing oyster bracelet (not just a big-ass dial + bezel) - AND you are beautiful. Love your videos!
I have a simple philosophy on watch buying: Figure out what you can afford, then buy what you like in that price range. An addendum to this would be: Try it on first. If you like the fit, the advertised sized is irrelevant. I have bought watches online a few times, but by that time I had a good feel for what fits properly. Now, I am a big guy (6’-3”) and have a 19.5cm wrist. I can wear a 43mm watch easily and I have 2 in that size. But I also specifically purchased two watches at 39.8mm (it was advertised that way) and they fit fine. One watch I have is my dad’s 1940s Orfina Automatic in 32mm. I like this watch but it is just too small for me. Maybe I’m different, but number size to me is a guideline, not a rule. I tried on my Omega before I bought it. I wanted to be sure.
Hi! I’m relatively new in the watch game and I find your videos really helpful in a very fun way. I daily a Santos large white dial and I’m looking to get a Daytona next. I’m kinda drawn to the panda dial. I just wanted to know what made you get this all black model instead? Thanks!
Brittany - as a guy who routinely wears a 45mm Fifty Fathoms, and owns an Explorer 114270 at 36mm, I can definitely say that 36mm is DEFINITELY a mens size.
I really hate when watch reviews relist the misinformation that it's 40mm. As well as most Rolex models. Explorer, OP, Datejust... yeah.. it's definitely marketing. a psych out. My steel daytona is 38.4mm, the everose gold daytone my wife has is bigger, about 39.something mm.
When my AD first unveiled my Daytona to me, the first words out of my mouth were "wow, that's looks a lot smaller than I thought it would!" So I suspected it was smaller than 40mm but I never would have guessed it was off by 2mm--that's crazy!
Hi Britt. This is not a dumb video. Case diameter is the first dimension I look at when shopping for a new watch. In a industry which works with precision parts, all dimensions should be exact. I think as others that Rolex wants it to be 40mm so it appeals to more buyers.
James said the same things when I was making this video! 😂🙈 he was like “everyone knows this!” …. BUT I DIDNT! 🙈 I’m right there with you! I hope they never change it!
A lot of folks have long been saying that the Daytona is borderline unisex size. It is kind of shocking that they would have an advertised size which is so much of an oversell though. It's one thing to round figures up. If something is 39.65mm, well yeah okay, let's call it 40mm. But a whole 2mm is quite a lot in the context of watches!🤔
Hey Britt That explains a lot!!! Thanks - would love to know the size of the skydweller!!! I would like to know all the actual sizes!! Maybe the are bigger in the summer??? It is very cold ha ha
I've been saying this for years. None of my watchers with a tapered bezel wear those sizes. So my smp300 is 42 but bezel to bezel is 41mm.... I have a couple of watches that are 40mm but the bezel across is 38mm... ie there's a slight pyramid type taper. It's where the it wears smaller comes from. There are very few that are straight up. Even when that is the case the bezel insert can be smaller across. Again make the watch appear smaller
Who’s bored hearing the name Gerard Genta and integrated bracelets in general ? Ok accept he was important but in the last year or two it’s just non stop .. Something tells me theres plenty of mileage in this follow the leader craze to run ..
Britt, I'd really like for you to wear a Speedmaster Professional for a week or so, really get to know it, then share your thoughts on the Speedy Pro vs. Daytona. I know these two watches have been compared ad nauseum, but I'm interested in your personal impression, not just the specs. Do it. DOOO EEET!
Rolex has a special name for everything. They call automatic perpetual, the case the oyster case, etc. They must have special rolex milimeters, so 1 normal mm is 0.95 rolex milimeters. You exposed this totally legit conspiracy.
I know men used to wear 36mm, and Thanks to Teddy telling everyone they need a 32mm watch these days, smaller watches are trending, but 36mm on full grown men just looks off to me. 38-42 is a pretty sweet spot. My wife rocks a 36 TT DJ and it looks perfect on her wrist.
Wow, Britt out scooped her colleagues -- all the bigger TH-camrs missed this fact entirely! In fact, if you measure the diameter of the sapphire crystal/dial, the measurements are SMALLER yet! When she asked why Rolex does this, it is eerily similar to food manufactures that put less product in the bag or can and charge the same amount. If you do the math, Rolex is charging the consumer for a 40 MM watch, yet using the material equivalent to a 38 MM times the hundreds of thousands of watches they make of each model!
Same here, i bought a OP 41 in november. And guess what...., it is 39,5mm :) Maybe we should donate a new caliper to Rolex ? But honestly, i don´t care. The watch is fantastic, love it
@@BrittPearceWatches maybe there is some weird Swiss logarithmic logical explanation to this😅 But I would really really love it, if it was a faulty caliper(the one they clinged on to since 1930🤣). Keep up the good work, always a pleasure to watch your videos
Nice one Brit - I have a 116507 - it wears small; now I know why. Rolex are rather deceitful in their advertising - maybe they need to be reported to trading standards.
Hi Britt! I’ve seen watches with a smaller bezel diameter and a larger case diameter. And vice versa. And yes, some brands calling a watch that has 40.4mm a 41 instead a 40mm. It’s not important for me so. If a watch fits my wrist comfortably, I don’t care whether it’s a 36, 40 or even a 45mm. Best regards, Claus
Hi Britt, what a good reflection and great video about the watch sizes. I have very recently been “blessed” with a new Daytona (LN) but good Lord what a big disappointment when I’ve had the watch on my wrist for a couple of days, feels totally smaller compared to my older model with stainless steel bezel, I’d definitely not classify it as a 40 mm watch (you’re totally right in your measurements). The major problem today is that you are not able to try out the watches before the purchase, you are just happy you’ve got the call. Anyhow I’m still glad, my wife is claiming it’s a perfect size for her 😂
Just the other day a coworker of mine came in with his brand new-used Daytona. When I tried it on my first impression was, "why is this watch so small?". He assured me it was 40mm, but that just didn't make sense. Now I know, is is 38mm. Thanks Britt! As a side note I only wore the watch for maybe a minute or two, but I was very underwhelmed by the Daytona. Anybody else ever have this feeling?
About the same! I can tell you officially when I get home! But I think it’s nearer 38.5! It’s very hard not to get lugs in from 10-4 😅 the lugs go so close to the pusher! But yeah! That’s generally what I got!
Nice video Britt and you're not going completely barmy. I've regularly found that the case size differs from the specs, be that Rolex or many other great brands. It's all about the marketing trying to generalise a size that will appeal to the widest or targeted audience. It just emphasises the need to ALWAYS try on a watch before you buy to ensure it suits you personally.
"Another Daytona victim" Britt Pearce 2023, I'm lettting got the "milimeters make a milles diffrerence " cos I really enjoy the video 😂 and then comes the Magnun reference 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ugh i had excused myself from all the Daytona mania because it was a 40, and thus too big for me. But now that you've told us it's really a 38, i guess i gotta go get on the waitlist ;-)
Unfortunately I don't have a Daytona to measure, but can you not whip off the bracelet and measure 12 to 6 from the back of the case? Do keep up the good work, please, Gringa! 👏👏👏
First, thank you for being refreshing in your content delivery! And yes, 36mm is an ideal unisex size. Rolex; ugh! The whole love vs, hate/frustration equation. Happy New Year!
It’s all very tricky, I got a hublot classic fusion 42mm and turns out the 42mm includes the ‘ears’ so the bezel is 39mm and thus the watch actually wears much smaller, same with speedy pro, 40mm bezel with the extra 2mm of case merged in with the crown and pushers (ie the case is not symmetrical).
I have a vague memory that the Rolex salesman at the end of the 80s told me that the evolution of the Daytona was only a millimeter compared to its predecessor but that the crown protector added mass to the whole. The 16520 is therefore 38mm, which is just perfect in my opinion.
I think the case minus the pushers/crown is closer to 40mm. If I measure mine from bezel on pusher side to case on the other side it comes out to 39, could be closer to 40 if the pushers weren't there. I also measured my DJ41 and it's 39.15mm at the (fluted) bezel and 39.65mm at the case (9:30 to 3:30). I think this is more widely known though since Rolex supposedly increased the size 2mm without actually increasing the size 2mm
Thank you so much. I have the exact same feeling as soon as I have it on my wrist. I have a 40mm submariner and gmt for years. This makes perfect sense now.
You made some really good points here. 36mm is definitely a mens size to not just women’s size. Also I finally got to a swatch store on vacation I now own three moonswtaches. Keep up the great work.
@@BrittPearceWatches I went to Vegas and I a got mission to Earth , mission Jupiter, and mission to Mercury. As someone that owns an actual Speedy pro the case size wise is a one to one copy. I really have enjoyed them.
Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea. I think the magnum theory is accurate. Does anyone know if the new 36 mm Explorer is true to it’s advertised size? I would think it is since people that want to wear a 36 mm size aren’t going to be insecure about the size of watch they wear.
There is that one video comparing the old vs new 36mm, and it measures both dials as 35.2mm. The width of the new lugs are smaller (and perhaps the new case is slightly thicker), which I think why the new one looks bigger. That same video somehow have convinced me to get the old one instead lol...
Also consider, in addition to the Magnum effect, that all sports car horse power ratings are rounded up. Check it out. So, it's the same strategy for Rolex with the Daytona - men like status and differentiation in comparative numbers - make it bigger than it really is.
Bahaha this video sponsored by: amazon callipers haha! Kidding of course. But I wonder how an affiliate link would do here haha! Out of sheer curiosity! And you know, I am right there with you! Something about the Daytona just LOOKS RIGHT! It's perfect proportions!
In my experience it's not always measured smaller. I believe the Datejust 41 (126300) is advertised as 41mm (hence the name), but in actuality is around 39mm. So you are not wrong about the inaccurate measurements lol. Probably because 41mm is a popular size.

Britt, did you check zero before using your calipers and when was the last time your calipers were calibrated.
We used two sets both calibrated and set to zero.
I think you need like Tim Mosso or Jack Forester to weigh in on this.
+1 on DJ41 is actually 39-ish..!
This is a perfect explanation as to why I've always felt the Daytona fits differently (better) than a Sub on my wrist. Great Video Britt
@@BrittPearceWatches Any idea what the OP31 measure at? I am contemplating whether to get OP28 or 31 for my wife.
Not so new. The date just 41 is more like 39.4. It’s a Rolex thing
50K Subs Brit! Congratulations :) Onwards and upwards!!!
excellent vid! youre 100 percent correct about the op 34. seen posts about it being smaller.
rolex is known to not have the exact same measurement as advertised , op 41 for example is actually 39mm
So eager to see your video comparing the Omega 2252.50 vs the Tudor 54
@@ericpignatore5317 Exactly how I felt.
Same here, Barry. When I tried it on, it felt dainty to me.
it’s possible they experimented with changing the size on their website and found that sales went down by a statistically significant factor. so they just reverted it back to 40mm. similar to your theory, but it would’ve been backed by data and the exact psychology behind it could be any number of things
“Vanity sizing” for the watch? I guess some people hate the idea that their actual clothing size is bigger than what is listed, and some guys hate to think the watch that looks good on their wrist or is “a man’s size” is smaller.
LOL exactly!! This is the perfect comparison!
But jokes aside, I didn't know the Daytona was 38mm
Great video, learned something today!
I agree with you. There’s really something about the Daytona that makes you fall in love the moment you get hold of it.
I saw another youtuber measure the daytona at 38.7, and the OP 34 at 32.7
You didn’t do it wrong! It’s just confounding! 😂
Yet another reason you should try a watch before buying it.
You just can’t talk about this with a straight face! Thanks Britt
Lol!! Like, I know it is a silly complaint ;) haha BUT I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!
Confirmed. I just measured mine (same as yours, steel, black dial, black bezel) and it's 38mm spot on 🤯 That explains why it wears so well haha
Lol nice one Britt. I’ve ordered some callipers today to check 🙌🙌
36mm is a Gentleman's size - when I look at my wrist, I want to see both the time and some of the amazing oyster bracelet (not just a big-ass dial + bezel) - AND you are beautiful. Love your videos!
Btw, is there any way you can tell us what that watch roll you're using is, and where you got it? Thx!
They’re from a really cool guy called Vinnie in Australia- Tell Your Time.
Yes! What James said! “Tell your time” and I have nothing but amazing things to say about them!
Why indeed ??? Great point !!!!!!!! It's critical !!! Thanks
Thanks!
Are the other measurements correct? Like, lug width, case height, etc.?
The magnum theory 😆😆😆😂😂😂 silly thanks for the video you've gained a new follower💯
Thanks and welcome ❤️❤️❤️
Brittany - as a guy who routinely wears a 45mm Fifty Fathoms, and owns an Explorer 114270 at 36mm, I can definitely say that 36mm is DEFINITELY a mens size.
+1..!
Congratulations on hitting 50K, Britt!
I love the look of the Daytona but it's just too small for my 7.75" wrist so it will always be a no-go for me! Sadge.
Rolex likes to be absolutely cryptic on everything
Hi Britt. This is not a dumb video. Case diameter is the first dimension I look at when shopping for a new watch. In a industry which works with precision parts, all dimensions should be exact. I think as others that Rolex wants it to be 40mm so it appeals to more buyers.
I have a Daytona and thought it was common knowledge that it was actually smaller than 40mm. I hope they never change the size. Such a perfect fit.
What do you think of them misrepresenting the size?
James said the same things when I was making this video! 😂🙈 he was like “everyone knows this!” …. BUT I DIDNT! 🙈 I’m right there with you! I hope they never change it!
A lot of folks have long been saying that the Daytona is borderline unisex size. It is kind of shocking that they would have an advertised size which is so much of an oversell though. It's one thing to round figures up. If something is 39.65mm, well yeah okay, let's call it 40mm. But a whole 2mm is quite a lot in the context of watches!🤔
Hey Britt
That explains a lot!!! Thanks - would love to know the size of the skydweller!!! I would like to know all the actual sizes!!
Maybe the are bigger in the summer??? It is very cold ha ha
Is the Tudor tiger larger?
This is actually excellent investigative reporting. Bravo!!
Rolex makes high quality watches as a byproduct but they are a marketing company after all.
The watch is fantastic, love it
Right?! I remember being so upset when the op 39 was discontinued for the 41! But I guess it jusy became a 39.5 😅 which isn’t so bad!
@@BrittPearceWatches maybe there is some weird Swiss logarithmic logical explanation to this😅 But I would really really love it, if it was a faulty caliper(the one they clinged on to since 1930🤣). Keep up the good work, always a pleasure to watch your videos
Yo B! Please please please measure the latest Daytona’s case for comparison! No one has provided this measurement yet. Cheers 🥂
Best regards,
Claus
why is the datejust and explorer 1 35.4mm but we say 36?
Rolex wants the Daytona to be perceived as a 40mm watch, while having it wear like a 38mm. But how 🤔 ? Marketing 😈.
Anybody else ever have this feeling?
so what is the magnum effect? Never explained in the video...
Thank you for this observation. I actually never checked the dimensions and thrusted the suppliers 😂
great video as always!!
Whaaaat! Thank you. :)
What does it measure if you do it 10 to 4?
About the same! I can tell you officially when I get home! But I think it’s nearer 38.5! It’s very hard not to get lugs in from 10-4 😅 the lugs go so close to the pusher! But yeah! That’s generally what I got!
Difficult as there’s a pusher in the way but case wise, still just over 38mm.
To be the only " "40 mm" " to fit smaller wrists size that good.
Super épisode j’avais la même impression ! Bravo Britt 🎉
Whaaat thank you so much! :) I am trying to get creative with delivery and make each video a little better than the last!
It's not Daytona but it's from the family, my question is; when will we see a new caliber in the tudor heritage chrono ???
I just received my first Daytona and I was stressing out stating it felt so small to be a 40mm. This makes sense now thank you for the clarification
The fact OP34 measures 32mm baffles me more!! The proportion is off by a lot more due to its smaller size basis
Omg. I’m gonna have to do an entire series of measuring watches now! 😂 because the OP IS REALLY BLOWING MY MIND TOO!
@@BrittPearceWatches look forward to it! Love your content as always
I have a vague memory that the Rolex salesman at the end of the 80s told me that the evolution of the Daytona was only a millimeter compared to its predecessor but that the crown protector added mass to the whole. The 16520 is therefore 38mm, which is just perfect in my opinion.
I prefer the Grand Seiko method of being extremely precise to the 0.1 mm 🤣🤣
I think the case minus the pushers/crown is closer to 40mm. If I measure mine from bezel on pusher side to case on the other side it comes out to 39, could be closer to 40 if the pushers weren't there.
I also measured my DJ41 and it's 39.15mm at the (fluted) bezel and 39.65mm at the case (9:30 to 3:30). I think this is more widely known though since Rolex supposedly increased the size 2mm without actually increasing the size 2mm
But what is the magnum effect?????
This is why teddy's "wears like a....mm" assessment is so useful. It's the only thing I go by.
Woah woah woah! WHAT ONES DID YOU GET?!?!
@@BrittPearceWatches I went to Vegas and I a got mission to Earth , mission Jupiter, and mission to Mercury. As someone that owns an actual Speedy pro the case size wise is a one to one copy. I really have enjoyed them.
ABSOLUTELY. SAME is true for vintage sports models (subs, 1655 ex 2, etc.) all 38mm
Rolex overestimating their size? Shocking..
LOL, we've all been there before!
That same video somehow have convinced me to get the old one instead lol...
th-cam.com/video/Yd3UqSyx3GE/w-d-xo.html --> this is the video I'm talking about. Hope it helps..!
Talking about numbers ….. you almost reaches 50K !!! 🎉. Girlpower / Hollywood looks rules 😂😂😂
Less than 4 hrs later … done deal , 50k in a pocket! You rock young lady
Nice video ---- Pope Tier Rules !!! --- I am BINGE WATCHING all your video this weekend (AND ALL THE ADDS) !!!!!
Also consider, in addition to the Magnum effect, that all sports car horse power ratings are rounded up. Check it out. So, it's the same strategy for Rolex with the Daytona - men like status and differentiation in comparative numbers - make it bigger than it really is.
38 would eliminate half the market. It would be seen as a ladies watch at 38. 40 is seen as a universal size for men. Simple.
I want a pair of calipers now. It won’t make a difference whether I like it or not, but I am curious. The Daytona just LOOKS right to me.
Bahaha this video sponsored by: amazon callipers haha! Kidding of course. But I wonder how an affiliate link would do here haha! Out of sheer curiosity! And you know, I am right there with you! Something about the Daytona just LOOKS RIGHT! It's perfect proportions!
@@BrittPearceWatches I will try to find a pair of calipers and measure my Daytona and let you know what I find!!
@@BrittPearceWatches Visually, it looks almost the same as my Submariner. I need calipers - NOW!!!
In my experience it's not always measured smaller. I believe the Datejust 41 (126300) is advertised as 41mm (hence the name), but in actuality is around 39mm. So you are not wrong about the inaccurate measurements lol. Probably because 41mm is a popular size.
Beautiful but the Daytona is too small for me. The size of Zenith works better for me
Ahh yes! The Daytona does feel small on the wrist! Man, zenith is such a great brand 💕💕
Just buy yourself a nice Spring Drive, and let the pleasant sweeping second hand glide effortlessly through your mind, so you forget all about it.
It’s marketing. 40 sounds better than 38.x But you’re right it’s confusing…
