Spoiler With you saying that Evernight and Storm god putting their differences aside to focus on their believers, I view it as them mainly being selfish. Evernight was shown to have enough power to slay the god of combat or at least fight back more since the beginning of the war, but her ambition to climb the sequences and become an outer god with her epoch long schemes outweighed her want to finish the war. She could have actually wanted to help but as you increase in sequence the less "humane" you become and the more power you would want, especially with the upcoming catastrophe.
But if she doesn’t advance in the sequence before the end of the world all mortals will face many different old ones. The point is that she needed to sacrifice the battle to win the war, the god of war wouldn’t give his power and she needed it. Unless she gave up her power to him and hoped that he would do her work for her there were very little options on what to do
Nah I see her looking at the bigger picture, there are like 10 outer gods and you need like 5+ true gods just to deal with 1-2 outer gods, she needs way more power otherwise she is just fodder. The planet's mainforce is just not strong enough. They need more of the gods to accomadate the serfirots but nearly half the pathways are evil/corrupted

We only know of 2 gods that don't NEED people to pray to them. Error, and the FOOL pathway are able to use their marionettes/Parasitize to pray to them selfs ( how amon doesn't loose control even though He doesn't have anyone praying to Him ) They are also able to redirect others anchors to themselves in times of need. Other then them, you need anchors to not assimilate into OC
Lotm as its name suggests, focuses on mystery. It's slow at the start, because the audience is still learning abt the world. Just like typical mystery genres. Vol 1 especially so, as it's the tutorial volume, introducing the stage, the era, the different factions, the lifestyles, the power system etc. Even so, there're already things brewing in the shadows, someone is plotting something, the events will unfold at the end of vol 1. If that ending doesn't satisfy you, lotm is probably not your cup of tea. The end of Vol 1 marks the end of serenity and mundane. Now that the tutorial has ended, the plot speeds up non-stop till the end. Check volume ratings. I'm not sure what made you start reading lotm. But I hope that you know what you're getting into. If you like SCP foundation, mythologies and Lovecraftian horror, you'll enjoy reading lotm. My recommendation for checking if you like the vibes of lotm. Listen to lotm ‘Code: Mystery the official vers. full’ (turn on the captions), watch fan lotm MVs, ‘Bad end nights’ and ‘Outsider’. Ofc don't check the comment section to avoid spoilers. The song and vids can't spoil you without much context.

(This was one of the motivations of me reading it, it's astounding that a webnovel has so much fanworks for it without an anime or manhua, although most of them are from CN artists)
