    I am a jar fanatic! To remove labels, I fill the empty jar with boiling water, put the lid on , and let it set. This melts the glue and most labels come off with 1 or 2 tries. So easy. PS- thank you for all of your fabulous videos - you have given me so many tips!

    My favorite method is a hair dryer or heat gun. The stickers lift right off in one piece and almost no sticky residue is left. If there is any residue then use oil or a little Goo Gone.

      Yeah, if boiling water inside doesn't work, which it usually does, my embossing heat works in a jif.

    I never work that hard getting labels off. I soak in hot soapy water until the water cools down a bit, scrape of the now soft label with the plastic pan scrapper like you used. Any remaining glue on the item comes off with WD40 or Goo Gone, then wash with hot soapy water or in the dishwasher. I have never scratched an item using this method. Works great for getting price stickers off of dishes and plastic items too.

    Put glass Jars in the oven on low for a little bit. Comes right off
    For wine that I really like I'll put the bottle in the oven on low for a little bit and I can peel off the label and save it!

    first, try peeling. some labels are plastic coated and you might be able to peel at least the plastic off. then let the jar soak in very hot water, maybe add some dish soap, maybe boil the jar. scrape the sticker with a butter knife and the paper will definately come off, maybe not the glue, which might just smear around when it gets warm. when you're down to the glue, slather it with peanut butter and let sit an hour. because most glue dissolves in either hot soapy water or some kind of oil, and pb is very oily and will stick well to the jar.

    • @nickrich56
      @nickrich56 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been doing this for years. The last bit of glue after the label is gone doesn't really bug me so all the PB gets eaten.🥪😊

      Yes. Messy, but I've done that in the past. Now I only use it if there's stubborn residue after peeling using the hot water inside method.

    I just soak the jar in very hot water and Dawn. Let sit. It will come off on its own. Save all that work. Sometimes I throw some vinegar into the water.

  • @tabitharothwell6864

    I love jars but I have found the easiest fastest way is to take a blow dryer or heat gun tothe jar it heats up the sticky glue and helps slide the sticker off. If you dont want to do heat then another way to remove sticker including the glue easy is to slather in mayo let it penetrate the sticker snd slide it off. Or you can set it in hot water with a dryer sheet or laundry softener and let sit then it comes off. Or even a magic eraser say into a sink of hot water and jar in it . or just go with acetone or mineral spirits does wonders

    What a mess. If your jar is empty, simply pour very hot water into the jar without getting the label wet. Put the lid on and wrap a towel around it to keep it warm for 3-5 minutes. Then just peel it off and use goo-gone or citrus based air freshener and a paper towel to remove any remaining residue. There's usually not much. You can microwave it a few seconds (WITHOUT THE LID) if you need it a little warmer.
    I've used this method for years and it's the least messy and most effective I have found yet.

    it's much easier just to use Goo gone or Goof Off and not have the mess doing it the way you did it. I don't know what they put on that sticker but Goo gone or Goof Off will usually take those sticks off with no problems you leave it on for a second or two and it comes right off!

    • @nickrich56
      @nickrich56 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She mentioned both but Goof Off is a mixture of petroleum distillates, acetone and other poisons. Goo Gone is more oil based but has toxins. Andrea seems to try it all eventually.😊🍿📺

    The easiest way to remove any type of label adhesive is use plain paint thinner - it is cheap and just as effective as goof off, and will remove any type of label adhesive or price sticker glue without damaging plastic bottles or jars, or of course any glass container. For paint thinner to work effectively you must first remove any plasticized material from the label - ideally just carefully peel the plasticized label off the container and use the paint thinner to remove any remaining glue residue. Once the paint is thinner has softened the glue, you must wipe it off with a small piece of absorbent tissue. I like to use individual sheets of Charmin ultra strong toilet paper (which I will put a few drops of paint thinner on) and use as a wipe. When all the glue residue has been wiped off, wash the container with a little soapy water and you are done. I keep a small 4 oz bottle of paint thinner and a roll of Charmin toilet tissue handy for adhesive removal. Do not try this with lacquer thinner, fingernail polish, rubbing alcohol, or other solvents. Just ordinary paint thinner. It will not damage most surfaces and is amazing at dissolving any glue adhesives.

    Thank you! Any suggestions for a surface that is supposed to be grippy but has become sticky? I have an electric wine opener with a grippy surface that has become sticky somehow. I’ve tried oils, dish soap to get the sticky off. Not sure what else to do!

    • @nickrich56

      Wrap the bottle In a paper towel and insert it in the device. If the towel sticks to the bottle and not the device, no problem, if it adheres to the device than perhaps the material itself is substandard. Where it was made matters. Warranties work for the best products.🥂😊
