Lovely that you were able to help a fellow boater. I’m sure he learned a lot faster from having support. Safe travels back to work - enjoy the warmth out there!! You’re very right about the state of the world….becoming increasingly dangerous and confusing. Not great, and leading more people into mental health difficulties and needing support. I’m sure you’d be a great therapist if you go down that route. There are far too few good ones around. Keep safe xx

Chris, Happy to see you back if only for a short while. Your opening words were spot on. My thoughts have long been that we should have been spending our money and time on nuclear energy technology. Enjoy your subtle artistry in your vlogs.

Interesting how our paths have had a degree of alignment, boat ownership at a similar moment in life and time, and now a next new chapter to therapy training. All the best with it brother, it’ll be a positive personal journey as much as service to others 👍

Nice soundtrack. The colours popped. Good cuts.
I used Better Help earlier in the year and the UK woman that I worked with was good. Problem was when I was done I ended up having to cancel my Debit card because the company carried on charging after I canceled my subscription.
Good on you Chris. Take care

It's good to see you back.. You're clearly in good fettle, in full-on curmudgeon mode! 😂
I agree with you about "greening." Sometimes, older technology is more efficient if you use it wisely. I have a 2011 car that I drive only when the trip is more than 5 km. It only has 163 k kms on the odometer, and I don't need to change the oil more than 2 X a year. The rest of the time, I walk or take transit. It doesn't make sense to buy an electric car.
Solar isn't ideal--I live at about the same latitude as Paris, so the crows are flying at 4:00 and the sun goes down by 4:30 in the winter.
From what I can see, John has a lovely boat. I'm actually a big fan of labelling, but it has to look good, and is a good idea for the things one might forget.
Yes, politics on this side of the planet is pretty crap too, Hoping for the best.
Looking forward to your next videos. New scenery, lots to learn and enjoy.

Perhaps I’m wrong but there seems to be a movement to encourage more householder to produce and store energy, and sell it back to the grid when it wants it, it’s not massive and you don’t get much out of it, but small steps can become a stampede, love the vid by the way 👍

Chris, enjoyed your intro about electric boats etc. Sounds like someone straight out of school has written your country's power policy, as they have here in NZ. Alternative power helps your fossil fuel use and cost, but the grids don't have the capacity to carry the demand, even if you can generate it, and the three year olds have not thought of the costs involved in adding capacity.
Business continuity was one of my activities, and boats practice it with multiple power sources. Putting all your eggs in one basket is a recipe for disaster for any business or country.
    Enjoyed your video as usual.
    Cheers
    Jim

Chris very level headed thoughts as always.
Yep Nuclear is the way to go with better technology now and even nuclear waste is reusable..
We certainly need a stable power source even on our electric Narrow boat with it's huge bank of batteries wouldn't run all the time on solar 24v 1000w
Watch the vlog from David at Crushing the cut (peace in the pod) the battery can run our fridge and laptop WiFi etc for 10 days but in winter we either need to cruise or plug in so yes your correct we need a backup
    Keep it going Chris

Hello Chris .. There you are. - How many renames & management changes has that UK nuclear pile in Cumbria (aka Cumberland) "Calder Hall" had since her majesty opened it 1952? Four or five, or more - but it's still leaking deadly radiation eh. I can see it from here in NZ. - I'd like to Uni study human cell biology but it's getting late ..

    Hi Chris
Good to see you again and a great Vlog.
Now to "Green Energy", its' just not viable on a commercial scale. I live in South Australia which has the biggest input to the network of Green Energy in the world, and our electricity bills, per capita, are the highest in the world.
Before anyone replies to this message, providing me the benefit of their views, then may I ask they view the following, both of which the average person will find confronting!
    a. Utube - Planet of the Humans. Produced by a former Pro Green Activist he realised the misinformation the public are being fed. There has never been a Solar panel or Wind farm produced that will ever give back the energy it took to produce. We are destroying the future of the next generation for our own self-serving needs.
    b. Utube - Sky News Australia - The True Cost of Net Zero. Explains the infrastructure and cost required to establish a so called Green Network. It also points out that when the sun doesn't shine, or the wind blow the entire system requires a 100% back up from fossil fuel to maintain supply stability. Technology is not at the stage to support all the political claims being made throughout the world i.e. power generation and battery storage. So who will pay? You don't have to be that bright to realise its' the consumer. Every major Electrical generation company acknowledges the public are in for a huge shock in the coming years, lights are going to be turned off.
As an ex nuclear submariner I have literally sat on 6 Reactors and spent years confined within a few meters of the technology so understand the physics and how safe they are. Without doubt Nuclear Energy is the safest, cleanest and most reliable energy source available to the human race.
When will people start waking up to reality?
As mentioned previously if anyone wishes to reply to me then all I ask is watch the two programs above.
Good luck with the phycology, I reckon it will be an excellent string to your bow
    Mel

Lots of Food For Thought there Chris…. What can I say… our generation has fucked it up… plastic waste, pollution etc - what are we leaving our next generation 😳
I am an avid believer that there is no such thing as “free energy” well not yet!!! There is always as offset hidden cost… be that material costs, production costs to harness or waste costs… I have looked into hydrogen, but there is still the cost of making it… but I do believe it’s a better “energy storage” solution than battery’s 🤔 and it’s a more natural resource than minerals or fossil fuels.
Anyway rant over lol, it’s good to see you helping out in the community and passing on hard learnt advice…
Nice to see you doing well, if you don’t post before have a good Christmas Pal 👍🏻

Labour have been really bad. The Tories were bad aswell. On the eco front they both terrible. We have the most expensive electricity in the developed world. I'm sticking with my gas combi boiler. No heat pump for me.
