Amen. And amen! This may be the end of cosy christianity. But praise God, it is Christ's church and Christ's rules. He will bring His people safely home.
@@mariannerobertson6877 the end of cosy Christianity is so true! As a college student, who loves the God I’ve forsook, I know many people out there don’t. By the Lords pure mercy on his sheep I pray his kingdom come and his will be done!
We sang this at church today for the first time. We didn’t sing all the verses, but the one lyric that cut me deep to the core was “in Thy service, pain is pleasure.” Wow. I’m still pondering this late tonight. I forgot what other songs we sang, and I’ve even forgotten parts of the sermon, but that one lyric is sticking with me.
I'm a really weak brother. I conform to the world and I hate it. That lyric is definitely something I was supposed to hear. I despise my sin and pray that God will continue to shield me from its wrath.
I wanted to sing to the Lord this morning and he actually brought me back to this hymn powerful words for all of us to remember let the world despise and leave me they have left my savior two human hearts and looks deceive me. Yet how rich is my condition God and Heaven are still my own. Foes and hate and Friends May shun me show their face and all is bright. We are Beyond blessed. Praise the Lord praise the Lord that I am his daughter. continue to sing the praises to Him. Amen amen amen
Just want to tell you friend and friends that there's hope in Jesus. Surrender completely your heart to Him and repent from all sins because he came to save us from all our sins. The word of God says ALL have sinned and we came short of God's glory but if you confess your sins He is faithful to forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Praise God for his Son Jesus who came to rescue and redeem us. God bless
Listen this song this morning and it reminds me Canadian pastor Tim Steven in jail. It make me pray in tears for him, his 8 children and wife, and his church members. Pray all of these work out for their good and for God’s glory too.🙏🙏🙏
The words bring me so close to Jesus and comfort me in an unexplainable way and the music overwhelms my soul as I listen. I love your rendition how it is sung..
I know this song but in a different version in my mothertongue and it has always been such a blessing. I love this version as well and I'm now learning it. Thank you
Jesus, I my cross have taken, all to leave and follow Thee; Destitute, despised, forsaken, Thou from hence my all shall be. Perish every fond ambition, all I've sought or hoped or known; Yet how rich is my condition! God and heav'n are still mine own. Let the world despise and leave me, they have left my Savior, too; Human hearts and looks deceive me; Thou art not, like them, untrue. And while Thou shalt smile upon me, God of wisdom, love and might, Foes may hate and friends disown me, show Thy face and all is bright. Go, then, earthly fame and treasure! Come, disaster, scorn and pain! In Thy service pain is pleasure; with Thy favor, loss is gain. I have called Thee, "Abba, Father"; I have set my heart on Thee: Storms may howl, and clouds may gather, all must work for good to me. Man may trouble and distress me, 'twill but drive me to Thy breast; Life with trials hard may press me; heav'n will bring me sweeter rest. Oh, 'tis not in grief to harm me, while Thy love is left to me; Oh, 'twere not in joy to charm me, were that joy unmixed with Thee. Take, my soul, thy full salvation; rise o'er sin, and fear, and care; Joy to find in every station something still to do or bear: Think what Spirit dwells within thee; what a Father's smile is thine; What a Savior died to win thee, child of heav'n, shouldst thou repine? Haste then on from grace to glory, armed by faith, and winged by prayer, Heav'n's eternal day's before thee, God's own hand shall guide thee there. Soon shall close thy earthly mission, swift shall pass thy pilgrim days; Hope soon change to glad fruition, faith to sight, and prayer to praise.

When we give our lives completely to Jesus, even in the face of persecution and hardships, we possess an inner joy that no darkness, sadness, or any other effect of sin can steal. I agree with you, Michael McShane, if you mean by 'Happy Days' an easy life. But happy as in the emotion, or joy, is found in following Jesus.

This word is used everywhere and anywhere, except one place: The Bible. The Bible makes it clear that man is not in a race, man is a living soul. Additionally, the appearance and colour of that man is irrelevant in the Bible, the kingdom of heaven receives all kinds.
The Bible makes it clear that we are in a race and we are to run to win! "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win." I Corinthians 9:24
I don't understand, what was wrong with the original tune? Why do people take these old hymns that were so beautiful and try to modernize them? I really do not like the noise these people make.
Persecution is coming. Pray we can sing this with joy as we under go the refinement from the Father.

Amen! Jesus is good.
Tis time. Strengthen us Jesus. Please. In the name of Jesus. Amen. Beautiful song to Abba. New to me. Blessed me this morning. ✝️
I read where Reverend Henry Lyte wrote this in 1824, still so powerful and relevant today. And this song wasn't his most popular. Thumbs up!
What a beautiful hymn. Onward Christian soldiers...

Wipe the sweet tears His Spirit brings. Jesus will wipe them away forever on that Great Day!
That last verse He went all out. Love it!

I’m about to lay my dad to rest next weekend. I think this song is fitting for him. Especially that last verse. Gets me every time.
Perfect song for today's world

Follwing Jesus is not always 'Happy Days'.......
Michael Mcshane, but is that really the point of this song?
Thats right...but how sweet is it to have forgiveness of sins and eternal life!
When we give our lives completely to Jesus, even in the face of persecution and hardships, we possess an inner joy that no darkness, sadness, or any other effect of sin can steal. Who is the 3rd singer?
Is the music score available for this?
The singer towards the end sounds like Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith).
Derek Webb
What is the name of the 2nd guy who sings?
Jeremy Casella

The heart is deceitful above all things , and desperately wicked: who can know it?
The Bible makes it clear that we are in a race and we are to run to win!
"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win."
I Corinthians 9:24
You are hugely mistaken. Others are referring to a race to run. But you're talking about race as in ethnicity. 🤦🏻♂️
