This video was so helpful! I watched a few different videos from other creators and was still left with questions. You did a great job and now I know what to do!
Thank you so much! This was so comprehensive and well explained. I'm about to collect my first pollen and will freeze and date it like you suggested :)
Guess what I have been doing? Cutting EVERY IMPERFECT LEAVES OFF. I wish I had have seen this a year ago. My anthurium is approximately 3-4 years old so do you think it is mature enough for inflo? Thanks for the vid I am from Brisbane
Omg I’ve been cutting my inflos off too thinking they didnt pollinate once its past female phase and back into male phase. Thank you so much for this information ❤️❤️❤️
Hi! Thanks for your guidance. Could you tell me if it's okay for inflorescence to go through all phases in a highly humid conditions? I keep my anthurium in the IKEA cabinet where there's a humidifier working from time to time making plants wet (literally everything is wet for some period of time). Won't this humidity/wetness kill all the pollen?
I'm so grateful to have found this video after searching information about pollination. No one explains it just the way you do! Thank you! I definately will subcribe your channel for I'm sure I can learn so much from your videos! Again, thank you! 😊🙂🤗
OMG your video is totally amazing! Thank u for sharing your experiences! My plant is having an inflorescence for the 1st time so your video help me a lot ❤️
This was very useful! I’m getting ready to pollinate my Anthurium Clarinervium from pollen I collected and froze. I’ll definitely capture the process. Thank you👍🏽
This is great information! There are not many videos out there on this topic. Thank you for posting. I have been looking for information on how to pollinate my Crystallinum. I attempted it a couple months back, now waiting to see if fruit form. *fingers crossed*
This was such a useful video, I definitely am one who cut old inflorescents off, with and without berries, not knowing what they were, to promote more flowering, after your video I've now regretted this 🤣, oh well, on to the future now with my new knowledge, thank you.😁😁
Came across your video while researching to pollinate philodendron. I have a moonlight with three inflorescence out and never tried to pollinate before. I am sure the techniques you explained for anthuriums should be similar for philodendrons. Hoping for the best and thank you again. Going to watch this a few times, as I’m anxious for my inflorescence to open up soon.
Good luck with it! I'm not sure about philodendrons as I always just propagate via stem cuttings! Although I think there are some good videos on TH-cam about how to do it. Hope it goes well :)
question.. you put the stuff in the freezer, do you take it out every day out the freezer? brush it again put it back? and repeat it? do you let the brush etc unfreeze first before you brush it again? im a bit confused.. why not put it in the fridge? if the female only is female a few days? i dont see the smartness in unfreezing freezing u freezing it every day for about 3 days to a week? its easier to freeze it later when pollinatiom is completed if you have left no?
Great video. Can you please make a follow-up video after they are germinated? My seeds have sprouted at the moment. When and How should I start moving then to individual pot?
Hi I just wanted to say thank you for this video! Now I have 20 anthurium clarinervium babies!! And I just pollinated another inflorescence. This video helped me with the process a lot:) I just acquired anthurium crystalinum and I will try to make clarinervium x crystalinum hybrid.. wish me luck🥳
Thank you so much for posting this. I was looking about Anthurium pollination last night. I learned so much now. I am still regretting that I cut the flower of my A. Magnificum while it was forming the berries. I didn't know about it before and I got scared. I though it had some issues. I bought it as it is and usually just let the flowers to dry up. Now I am thinking I miss that oppurtunity and made me sad. However I know what to do next time around and hopefully one will be succesful. ❤🤞
Thank you so much for creating this video! I have been religiously watching my clarinervium bloom, but I never saw it go through the female phase, once it opened up it just started producing pollen on the bottom half shortly after opening. Have you ever seen this happen?
My pleasure! 😊 Yes sometimes if the plant is still a little bit 'immature / juvenile' in the reproductive department it can skip the male or female phase! I would collect the pollen it produces now and freeze it for the next time it produces an inflorescence, hopefully next time it won't skip the female phase and you can pollinate it 😊
@@leaflifesydney8494 thank you so much! I had no idea it would skip a phase, that's really helpful to know. It's slowly producing some pollen, not as much as I expected but I was able to collect a tiny bit a few days ago and I will be able to collect more in a day or two. I also noticed when collecting it that a paint brush wasn't really loosening it enough to fall off, so I think I might have slightly damaged the bottom portion being a little too rough to get that pollen. Any advice on improving my method this next round of collection? 🤗
A great video! Thank you so much for this much detailed information🙏🏻😍 4 of my anthuriums are producing flowers right now, and I was wondering how to cross-pollinate one another. Now I can definitely try!!
This video on the next breaking it down. By the way what if we want to store the seeds because we have no space to grow it all out. How do we do that and how long do they last?
Great video. I have a flower on the Clarinervium right now and am not sure when should i start collecting the pollen. There is pollen on the lower portion, but not on the top. Do I wait for the whole thing to be covered in pollen? Thanks.
I think I might've pollinated my anthurium by mistake, just by playing with the flowers. One of the inflorescenses has dried out but the other one looks like it's starting to grow the berries.
I am getting ready to pollinate, because i have another flower, but am a bit unsure of when to do so. Will the sticky fluid be noticeable to the eye or touch? Thanks again.
I’m just glad that my store bought anthurium (from Costco) was already pollinated, I’m guessing some curious kid did it or some buggies snuck in? But I’m getting berries that are starting to form so yeah
Both of my anthurium veitchii are flowering at the same time🥰 I can’t wait to pollinate them! Hopefully the pollination goes well so i can grow baby veitchii😁 thanks for this video!!
So i tried to pollinate my anthurium recently, but after the fluid dried up, the pollen (male phase) started to show again. Now i dont know whether the previous pollination has worked or not. Question is, should i collect the pollen off the previously pollinated spadix? Or just leave it be? I really want the berries tbh.
Yes pollen can show up in some cases after the inflorescence has been pollinated! I would use or collect the pollen for next time, you might find that after the pollen phase has finished that it will start to sprout berries 😊
would you do a video on growing the seedling specifically? Like how to prevent leggy plant and etiolation n etc. I feel that just like other plants, germination would be the easiest part and actually growing healthy seedling that's strong enough for the house or the outdoors is the toughest part.
Great video with all the info needed! How old does the plant need to be in order to produce the inflorescence? Also can anthuriums produce mora than one inflorescence a year? Thank you
Thank you! ☺️ It really depends on how much they've matured, but generally speaking they would probably need to be about 2-3 years old before they produce an inflorescence. And yes absolutely, one of mine has two growing at the exact same time! For most of my anthuriums they grow one inflorescence, then grow another one straight away.
Hi...I can't seem to identify the 'sticky'phase of female fertility you mention....can you actually see the sticky globules of liquid or only by feel? Thanks for useful video
I just let it sit out for about an hour but there have been times when I've put it straight on and it thawed while on the inflorescence and it worked the same 😊
I was just considering if I should chop an ugly leaf off one of my anthuriums. Hearing your advice definitely helped me put the scissors down lol Thank you for this amazing video, I will definitely refer back whenever I have an inflorescence forming! Have you pollinated philodendron in the past, would that be the same process?
Thank you! 😊🙏 I haven't pollinated philos as I just propagate by cuttings! It's a similar process but slightly different, as I think the male and female stage occur at the same time so you just need to rub them together!
My volume is on 95% and you're barely above a whisper - please could you reconfigure your sound editing for your videos. Even the music during your section headers is clearer than your actual speech.

The only thing I found distracting is that it’s being read instead of flowing naturally as I kept following your eyes ☺️
Does your propogation box with the seeds in need light or will you only need light after a leaf has been developed?
Yes they need bright indirect light 😊

Thanks! And yes! 😊
Do you typically cut off the inflorescence after you collected the pollen at the base?? Or do you just leave it? TYIA
I wait until I'm sure it's dying as sometimes they can self pollinate and they still produce pollen after they've been pollinated 😊
you dont dry the seeds before putting on spag moss? thanks
They should never be dried out at all or they will die! They need to stay moist to be able to germinate
