- Tonight we are having a date dinner in a restaurant we've been avoiding for over a decade - 50's Prime Time Cafe. To be sure, the theming here is on point with decor that takes us back to our grandparents' homes and the servers' antics are...interesting as well. But, how does the food stand up? Only one way to find out... Enjoy!

You're allowed to say you don't want the antics during your meal; just let the host/ hostess know as they're seating you and you'll get a much friendlier experience 😊👍
I was actually disappointed we went there and ate twice this year. I went pre-Covid and love the waitress we had who was aunt Sue, and this time they just basically acted like it was just a regular restaurant both times I had to guess with me and then I told him all about how it’s kind of like being in a 50 sitcom and then got a huge disappointment.
We always eat here because my husband loves it. However, the first time we went here and the waitress started scolding us my oldest autistic son got very upset because he thought she was being serious. I had to mention to her that our son was autistic and then she totally changed her demeanour and was so pleasant. She even found out his favourite Toy Story characters and left a set of toys for him when we were leaving. It was so sweet and so appreciated. I love Disney magic!!!
That’s nice!
We are here and loved it. Our waiter dialed back the antics and it was just right. We had a table at a window, took our time and just relaxed. Food was just as you described. Appreciate the review!
Hardest part about eating at 50's Prime Time is walking out stuffed to the gills . Especially when its crazy hot outside.
Jello molds😊
We ate here today. Lovely meal. We were wet and tired. We were incredibly grateful our waitress did the standard stuff (do the chores, clean your plate) but toned it down to just the right level. I had the meatloaf, my wife had the sampler, and our son had the Caesar. All were good. (We were hungry and they hit the spot.) We were seated in a back corner. It was quiet and we felt great when we left. Dessert was ok (hummingbird Bundt cake) but not spectacular. This place is just our speed. (We decided against the shake - appreciated the review!)
Love your reviews! So helpful! ❤
Leslie’s shirt is EPIC!!!! Nobody puts Baby in a corner!!!
😂😂
Ooohh Dan I was totally feeling for you in the beginning!!! 🫣

Great review as always. We have avoided this place for the same reason Dan has. We don’t want to get yelled at while eating our meals. Glad the food was good. Might try it at some point. 😊
Wasn’t as bad as I pictured it being (the antics, that is. The food was good)
Caught this one early! Excited to this review ❤
I was just at Hollywood Studios last month.I did have the opportunity to eat here. The food was delicious I took my whole family which consisted of 3 young adults .Every dish we all received was hearty and my bill was under $170 dollars for a family of 5.
I really love that place but can see why some wouldn't. The pot pie is my fav. I especially like that there is some dark meat chicken in there too. When we go with extended family, stories from the good old days are told which adds to the ambiance ♥️
ty for this! I like that type of food. Im with Dan....Dont make me center of attention unless its Laugh Floor. I will consider this in future trips.
Exactly!
Hi Dan and Leslie!! Great review!! Alarm is set for 5:45am tomorrow - our 60 day ADR window for our September Staycation!! 50's Prime Time is on the top of our list!! Never been because we could never snag a reservation. Hopefully our luck will change!! Your review makes this dining experience even more coveted!!
Hope you got it!
@@AddictedtotheMouse YES!! Finally snagged a reservation at 50's Prime Time!! Worth waking up early!!
Hi! We really enjoy having a meal at 50’s Prime Time , I’m glad you all enjoyed your meal and those onion rings looked amazing ! We need a smell o vision feature! 🎉😊 we get the annoying vibes 🙃🙃🙃😳🤔
They were very tasty!
I LOVE their Strawberry shakes! As an avid classic show watcher, if you will, this place rocks!
Copper JELLO molds...lol
We avoided this place for that very reason. Plus I feel there are other places that offer similar food or close enough. But thank you for the review as always..you guys rock!
Thank you!
This wasn’t my favorite place but they didn’t have the chicken pot pie at the time so that alone makes me want to give it another shot…thanks for another awesome review 💚
It's funny. I almost always align with Dan and Leslie's views so I am surprised at how far apart we are on the overall atmosphere of this restaurant. Perhaps it has to do with them being locals and me being a visitor. They say that this isn't what they are craving when they visit a theme park, and I am 180 degrees the other way. I get it that if you live nearby and want to go out for dinner simply to have dinner, the kitsch might not be desirable. But as a visitor, when I dine at WDW, I like to go to places that scream WDW--places that I can only find there. And for me, this is it. (And California Grill as well.) I agree that I can get a "better" meal at Brown Derby, but the meal I get there is in line with what I can get at home. There is nothing like 50's PT anywhere else but WDW, and when I sit down, am told to set the table, and immerse in the "dinner theater" that is the restaurant's calling card, I know that I am in WDW and I immediately find my happy place.
I think it’s just personal opinion. We lived in Oklahoma and came to Disney each year two or three times and heard many times about the restaurant both good and bad. It just never appealed to us and still doesn’t as locals. Food was good, but just not our vibe. Not that it’s bad, just not our preference.
@@AddictedtotheMouse I can totally see that. And one major difference (I think) is that I have always eaten here for lunch. When I spend my hard earned money on vacation meals, (and at WDW, one spends A LOT of hard earned money), I tend to want to end the day with an elevated experience. My overall opinion of fried chicken and meatloaf would probably be a lot lower were it my dinner. I'm willing to entertain an entirely different vibe for lunch.
@@jamesvitelli8800 good point!
Took the wife..and my mom and sister here a few years ago....was ok.....food was decent...but..I have heard it has improved ...Great review as always!
I’ve never been for the same reason. I do NOT like the spotlight. Haha
Thanks for another review ❤
Thanks for watching!
Leslie,
I love your shirt! Dirty dancing is my all time favorite movies! Where did you get it?
Famous in Real Life
The food sounds one of the best that you have gone to
It was good!
We ate there during our first ever trip to Disney last September. The food was good, but I did not enjoy being told to finish my green beans and the server actually got a fork full of them off my plate after I had already finished and fed me a bite of them. I was so embarrassed. If I ever go back I will request not to participate in the antics.
Agreed!!
Is your list with the rankings of restaurants so far accessible?
Not currently
I’m from the Uk and never heard of grits. What are they please? Is it a grain?
Cornmeal. Kind of a porridge. Hot and usually buttery and salty. So good
@@AddictedtotheMouse thank you
it is a little hard to buy that you're shy when you have so many tattoos attracting attention
