The best time to visit is October - April, you can enjoy snowfall in winter if you visit. If want to visit now the view will be good greenery everywhere,running cloud in mountains, but it's little risky to travel in monsoon because of heavy rain
Visiting Darjeeling Hills and Sikkim safely, enjoying weather, food is definitely big PLUS for foreigner like you. Gangtok is small part of Sikkim and if you want to see nature and mountain, you should visit Norther and Easter part of Sikkim. However west Sikkim also too good. Hope you travelled Darjeeling also. If not, have a plan next time.

There is no unsafe place in India during daytime. Literally thousands of people are walking by. However yes unfortunate incidents can happen once in a while. Like u went to USA and someone started shooting but that doesn't happen everyday right.

So if you don't see it online, try visiting the railway station in person. Carry along your passport. Most of the time you should get tickets one day before the journey.
You're looking for a ticket to varanasi a day before you had to leave? 🙂 Tickets to that place are always booked even if you look one month in advance. It's a very popular tourist destination and hindu pilgrimage site.
