YES!...You've made another classic!...grew up on Herb Alpert's albums as a little girl in the early 1970's...my Dad loved him and had all his albums from the 1960s...used to really laugh at the taxi horn in "Tijuana Taxi" - a really funny noise to have on a record I thought...sort of like Spike Jones' records from the 1940s (and my Ma loved the noises on his records as a little girl in the 40s) And I Loved (and still do) "Rise" in '79 - I was 12 - had the 45 of it as well, and 'wore' it out playing it - was too 'short' for me and wanted a 'longer' version of it - and now you've gone and done it! - Thank you!
The biggest difference between the original and this remix is the marimba has been brought forward, it was practically non existent and it adds so much Tijuana Brass sass to it! And you know I was going to break it down. The only thing I would add are more horns to funk it up even more. I almost did not even try this one the music files were not complete until one day.....It took me five hours from start to finish video to upload...I love the way it comes together and ends. It still hypnotizes and relaxes me each time.
I was born in Dec 1979. I swear I heard this song in moms womb, it’s always been so familiar to me. My mom had a stroke and songs like this help to comfort me in these day to day times. I 🙏🏼 to god with physical therapy she ‘ ll be able to regain speech and even 75% mobility in the side effected. One day at a time and hope 😢😢
May ‘79 baby here. My dad had a small stroke this year. Physio, followed by deep tissue massage and red light therapy (photobiomodulation) has my dad on the road to a full recovery. Hope your mom achieves the same.
Brought back a memory of a party I held in my lovely Mum’s house when she went away for an evening. I was 17 at the time, the house was full and lots stayed over - this was playing at about five in the morning - fantastic ❤ Mum’s no longer here, the old house isn’t there anymore and I live a long distance away and this amazing tune still lives on. Happier times😢
Remember getting this 45 in 79 (age 8) and my dad explaining the A in A&M on the label was in fact Herb Alpert - what a groove - then and now, great mix.
Yep. Some show I watched recently used that track (actually by Notorious B.I.G.); I recognized the sample from "Rise", but couldn't place it immediately. Rolled back the show a couple of times to concentrate on those few bars, and suddenly I was saying "Holy crap! That's Herb Alpert's 'Rise' sampled by a rapper!"
This Masterpiece has to be the BEST instrumental song ever made. Herb gave us one for the ages pure CLASSICK. This feel good melody will put you in a great mood just listen and enjoy. Sadly music is not made like this anymore. In 1979 Disco was in the air and this song was everywhere. Mr. Herb Albert thank you for sharing this with us cause it will last till the end of times ❤️🎹🎼🎵🎶🎺🎷✌️❤️
Dang....I was a senior in High School in 1979....the memories being triggered by Mr. Alpert. Listeners of hip-hop and in particular Notorious B.I.G/Puff Combs almost certainly would not know who they sampled in their song Hypnotize which by the way was a worldwide hit in 1997. "Rise" and take a bow Mr. Alpert, you're a legend.
It's funny how music can bring you back to old times. I was 4 when this was released...but I remember this song playing on the radio constantly! Going from 1979 to the 1980...disco was declared dead...but it didn't die...they just didn't call it disco. The groove was changing into what is now called boogie...that slowed downed funked up R&B.
@I STAN Kim Jong-Un but Can't STAND Trump , it's not disco at all :) It's jazz-pop fusion, in my book. But who needs labels? It's a bad-azz tune that has stood the test of time. Plus, it didn't hurt for it to be sampled by the hip-hoppers in the '90s.
Call disco crap or dumb, but it is way better than the so-called dance music of today. Today it's just instrumental music with few words if any or a repeat of the chorus over and over and over and...... give me disco of the mid 70s to early 80s any day!!!
Oh man, those were the good ole days. ooooh weeeeee. I was in my prime and living in Monterey, California. A big difference than N.Y.C... A little a few drags of weed and I was dancing all over the place. Don't smoke anymore and this song still has the same affect on me. I am typing to the music.
Most certainly a great time during 1979, after this was released to the public. This was a big hit for sure, and this was played all over this country and over seas. Thank you for playing this classic.

I love Mr. H. Albert bought his 45's back in the 70's when I used to visit my sister in N.Y. back than I used to pay 77 cents ( usd ) Per record at this small record store .. Queens N.Y. ... Such wonderful Memories !
An incredible tune, thanks for posting!! 🧡🧡🧡
