I have made a few of you recipes and they were all delicious and just received your cookbook in the mail. I just read the introduction and your language of love IS cooking. So was my moms and grandmothers and my mother in law is so much like you -cooking for family, friends and the Baptist church she belongs to- teas, dinners, fundraisers, hosting and ministering through feeding people. I made this for my husband for Father’s Day! I changed the crust to a homemade graham cracker crust, and it was fabulous! That is a wonderful adjustment if you want to try it!
This is the same recipe my mom has always made, it's DELICIOUS!! I loved helping her make it when I was a kid and I still love it just as much as an adult, it's definitely one of my favorite desserts. We've also done it in a graham cracker crust or with no crust at all and just put it in custard dishes, such a refreshing dessert on an early summer day! :)
I live in NE Florida and recently received your cookbook from my mother on Mother’s Day! About a week or so ago, a couple from SC was in town selling strawberries, and I bought the biggest basket they offered, which is identical to your white basket at the end of this video! Wishing I hadn’t eaten them all before I knew about this recipe lol
The canisters are a lot less mess than the old boxes were! Remember the mess they made? I love the way you only peel back the protective film halfway on the can! That is genius. I’m going to do my next can that way.

I remember Shoney’s restaurant when we would drive from south Florida to Michigan to see my parents. It was a 24 hour trip because we only stopped for gas, bathroom breaks or Shoney’s breaks to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. I always ordered the delicious strawberry pie every time. Thank for the recipe and the great memories.
I loved Shoney's strawberry pie as well, but to my knowledge, they have all closed. My grandmother had a variation of this pie. It was called Strawberry Glamor Pie. Before you add the strawberries and sauce, you will make a meringue to go against the pie shell and then you add the rest of the goodies and chill accordingly. Oh, by the way, the original pie is wonderful with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Wonderful memories of great food. It is true, the South has the market on the World's Best Cooks, and you are certainly one of them!
I followed the directions and made this pie. My husband loved it, loved it so much that he comes home with strawberries and pie shells at least once every other week. Miss Diane, you have turned my husband into a strawberry addict.

I've also made this pie by first spreading a light layer of cream cheese on the crust before filling. Both ways are delicious.
MeMe, I already have this recipe and made it last week so I know it is an excellent one. I first got the recipe from the Southern Country Living channel (Cal & Marie who reside in GA). My berries didn't look as luscious as yours do in the video (because strawberries are out of season now so all I was able to get were some anemic-looking berries at the store). By the way, this is the third I have seen a video featuring this same recipe from this "Shosoney's". That is the name of a restaurant chain I am unfamiliar with so I am spelling the name phonetically. We have a restaurant where I live called Marie Callenders which makes a delicious strawberry pie as well, but a slice of pie there is very expensive. When strawberries are in season, they sell whole strawberry pies for a whopping $18 each so you will save money by making it yourself. I heard you say there is a nearby farm in your area that grows strawberries. You are lucky. We have them here too, but unfortunately, strawberries is the only crop they sell so you cannot get them all the time. Like yours, they are fresh and organic (and of course, expensive). That is why I purchase mine at the local grocers. Thanks for doing this video.

I’m going to make this next summer, but because I’m not wild about artificial fruit flavors, I may opt to use unflavored gelatin and turn some freeze dried strawberries into powder and mix that in instead of jello. Then again I’m also kinda lazy so I’ll probably just use the strawberry jello! 😂

If you put a layer of sour cream on the bottom the pie crust won't get soggy.

Jello and pre-made pie crusts! You could probably use a bag of frozen sliced strawberries from the grocery store, make it easy on yourself!
