Love the line “I’m dammed if I do, and I’m dammed if I don’t” like if he tries he’s going to find the truth and he’ll be dammed, or if he doesn’t try he’ll be dammed his whole life wondering what if. The end when he says “how I just hate you, please turn does headlights around” love is the worst poison out there. It’s crazy no matter how much you are loved or respected, when that one person you wanted doesn’t love you back unfortunately leaves you feeling worthless. Crazy how he made a song to describe exactly how I feel.

Same I'm a 14 year old girl and fight the same problems and on top of that I have ADHD and everything else so I understand how she feels
So let me tell you a story. This story starts when I was 10, and I had just finished the 4th grade. My mother and my aunt are very close, and decided to spend a couple weeks with us. They have a rather large family, 9 children (we are mormon), ranging from 3 to 21. One of my cousins was 15 at the time, and he hung out with me exclusively. One day, he asked me if I wanted to see something cool. I said "sure", being the oblivious little 10 year old I was. He then proceeded to produce some white sticky substance on my matress, if you catch my drift. Immediately after he forced me begin giving him a bezeesus, and if I said I didn't want to, he would threaten me that he would tell my mom. At the time, I thought I would get in big trouble, so I carried on doing what I was told. He began toying with my willy, and I was just so scared. It didn't go any farther than me giving him the bejeesus, and him playing with me, but it was still traumatizing. I didn't realize that I had been assaulted until a couple years later, and it sent me into a downward spiral. I was depressed, anxious, and just felt like nobody loved me. Sometimes I just wanted to die. I had to get up every morning and remind myself I had a couple of friends that would miss me. Over the course of about a year, I managed to recover without medication or anything like that. I am now a (mostly) put together kid, and we don't speak to my my moms sisters child anymore. I think he got imancipated, but idrk. I just want to tell all of you guys that at your lowest, no matter how low you get, it only goes up. Riding the sewer slide is neither the right option, nor the only option. There are a lot of people who will miss you, no matter how lonely you feel. You can overcome depression, and you can pull your life together. I get that some scars never heal, and that's alright. You can use your scars to feel like a loser because they are there, or like a winner, because it's just a scar now and not an open wound. There is always someone there for you, and there is a cure already inside of you, you just have to find it.

Mine passed in November and it’s coming up on a yr now. His birthday is in 11 days. I feel similar; I think of my dad with this song. This was released three weeks ago when my love for a woman I've known almost ten years now had reached an all time high again.. now a situation she found herself in during a lull in our relationship a while ago has come back up and feels like it's stripping her from me for a second time. I never listened to this until last night during one of my lowest nights, it came on while i was cutting and polishing agates to clear my mind... man i listened to it four times straight, went inside and picked up my guitar and spent the better part of night to morning playing it in an "all night revival" this song is keeping me sane boys.

Her and I went no contact a little over a year ago due to my inability to handle/cope with the death of my brother/best friend/ heterosexual life mate at the hands of a heroin overdose. All of that coupled with the fact that I found him and had to tell the parents one of the most important people in my life their son had died…on my watch…and I couldn’t save him. All of that together literally broke me to the point of severe memory loss and a 3 day hospital stay. Ultimately my grief stricken mentally led me towards suicide and I regretfully scared her to the point of getting a restraining order and to be completely honest, I don’t blame her at all for it. I haven’t spoken to her in a little over a year and my son or I haven’t seen or even spoken to my daughter since. The court order was lifted about 2 weeks ago, our 5yr anniversary and the 2yr anniversary of his death would have been yesterday, just learned she moved to another state about 8 hrs away and she is happily engaged to a man that my daughter looks at as a father. To hear that your daughter is calling another man that has been in her life barely a year daddy will really take a broken mind to places it should NEVER be. I’m forgotten. Barely a memory to a little girl I spent the ENTIRETY of her first 4 years of life as the “home” parent while mom finished up school. I’m having conflicting thoughts of wanting to reach out to her mom but don’t know how to or if I want to even subject either of them to what/whoever this stranger I have become is. This song speaks for a man that has lost his voice and it’s saying in such a profound what has been my life for longer than it should have been.
Moral of the story: you’re not alone in your feelings or situation brother. Stay strong and always use the light from your kids to keep the dark at bay

Always used to think of this as a relationship song, but a little over a week ago in a nearby town, a tragic car accident took the lives of 3 teenagers. One of the boys’ father posted about how his son who died loved this song and that he didn’t know why. Now he does. It can also be about someone leaving this world. I’ll never listen to the song the same way again.
