Why does the death company have ranked troops now like captains? The whole idea behind them was crazed berserkers that could no longer follow orders. They had chaplains but that wasn't a chain of command but someone to keep them kinda sane
Captains can also fall to the black rage. And they fight with their favoured weapons and thus are Death Company Captains. He ain't exactly commanding them, just thinks he is Sanguinius leading his troops on Horus' battle barge.
@@thisismychannel607 the reason was because most DC had a limited amount of leaders that could attach to them, on foot DC only had the Chaplain whereas the Jump DC had the Jump Chaplain, Lemartes and Astorath, it was purely for gameplay reasons.
While I would be happy to see Blood Angels players recieving new unique sculpts for the Death Company, it's more likely that they will lean into people buying upgrade sprues to customise them beyond a paint scheme. The upgrade sprues being more modular allows them to apply to it new generic units going forward. The firstborn models for many units have so much character and it's a shame to see that ebb away with some of the primaris replacements, but that is the way the winds of change appear to be blowing.
i've not seen any changes in sculpts in lore of death company. paint armor black, paint cross on your shoulder for one time attack. it will be strange to make any other differences, for people who's intenteded to be used one last time (or mb equiping them with cheaper armors, and weapons, but i don't think any blood angels fans will like it) lorely based death company looks now on the table like they should do in all chapters, besides, maybe, flesh tearers, who use fallen brothers, more then once.
@@ВалераПетров-ф4с"It will be strange to make changes to people whose job is to be used one last time" That is precisely the reason it'd be done. @@vlad78th Yeah, it seem like a lot of kits are being prepared to be more "modular", like Marine units in Horus Heresy being cross-compatible with weapon upgrades and many KT Squads being older kits with extra sprues that fit perfectly. Also shoutout to Kikoskia for his rainbow Marines.
@@ToddGrindleThis. Dark Imperium had shooty Marines against somewhat choppy Death Guard. Indomitus contained choppy Marines against mostly shooty Necrons. Leviathan contained mostly shooty Marines against mostly choppy Tyranids. If the rumors of 11th being Marines Vs Orks are true, they'll probably go for very elite choppy Marines Vs mostly shooty, horde-y green-skins. (Probably lots of Grots) You know what, I'm going to call it now: Marines: Gravis Chaplain, 5(3?) * Jump-Pack Vanguard Veterans, 5 * Heavy Assault Intercessors, 10 * Primaris Tactical Marines (these will be equipped with Bolt Rifles, Bolt Pistols and Astartes Chainswords, plus a Special and Heavy Weapon so your firstborn models are not a WYSIWYG proxy and to make them more elite than Intercessors of either flavour and to sell the models to players who already loaded up on Intercessors of both flavours) plus a couple of random characters, like a Lieutenant in Terminator Armour and an Ancient or a Techmarine in Phobos Armour, or something weird like that. Orks: Big Mek on Warbike, Runtherd, 3 * Nobz on Warbikes, 3 * either Killa Kanz or Grot Tanks, 20 Grots, Maybe 5 * Burna Boyz and 5 * Tankbustaz, plus a couple of random characters. (I'm not too familiar with Orks at the moment so I don't know what would be funny to suggest here.)
Well if they updated every single model in one edition, they’d be forced to fill the launch box of next edition with entirely new models and further bloat the datasheets. Because GW forbids any faction be in the launch box in place of Space Marines
@@bombkangaroo As an Ork player, if the rumors of 11th being the 're-launch' of the main Orky model line are true, then I'd expect new redone kits for; - Warboss multipart kit - Wyrdboy - Nobz - Lootas - Burnas - Bikes Multi-part Boyz are very sorely needed, as the current "Nu Boyz" kit is complete garbage, and the old 4th ed box will no doubt be retired to the dustbin of history New units could easily include things such as; - 'Ard Boyz - Mad Boyz - Cyborks - Grot Tanks - Looted Tanks We honestly DO NOT need GW wasting plastic on redoing the Killa Kans or Deff Dreads - those kits are still amazing! A really fun Kill Team future release for Orks could easily be Rebel Grots! Honestly, as an Ork player, I'm not looking forwards to being the big main 'antagonist faction' come 11th edition... I really wanted to see Dark Eldar players get the limelight, and get their model overhauled again, especially since so much of it is still Finecrap and/or GW won't even sell it anymore.
To be honest, the only problem I have with the current Death Company Intercessors is that it is literally cheaper to by a box of 10 Intercessors, and two of the old Blood Angels Accessories sets. I'm old enough to remember when Blood Angels players just painted their Marines in black for the single Death Company unit they fould field, and rolled for each unit pre-game (yes, that was a thing, all the way back in 3rd edition).
I can't believe that they look so lazy. To the point that a part of the community are speculating that they will release death company models later because the death intercessors are too hard to accept.
what i would like would be a Blood Angels Intercessor kit, like the BA tactical squad. make it similar to the black templars crusader squad, where its not necessarily anything brand new, but stuff with unique poses and filled with BA icconography. give us both bolt rifles and chainswords, and boom, it would be a really nice base for conversion for BA players.
I like the way you think. The BT Primaris Crusader sprue is great because it works not just as a standalone unit, but has spare parts and models that can be spread out across a range of other kits, effectively doubling as an upgrade kit for both models and units. Ideally every chapter should get the same kind of thing.
The blood angels update has me worried about the space wolves update. All of their unique units will be relegated to a single upgrade sprue and will just be grey-blue painted ultramarines.
@@BreadTeleporter1968 BT were in 9th, and every codex in 10th has been trimming units while in 9th they were adding them. @@tdlainc.4737 I wouldn't say new DA update was crap, not perfect but not bad at all. Both DW Knights and Companions are really cool models and were well recieved (also everything is monopose-ish nowdays). But compared to Blood Angels the Dark Angels had a big win.
The blood angels box was entirely death company focused - they won't be realising dedicated kits for a long time. The blood angels will get a crappy hq and then they'll get ignored until they scrap the pred
All of the blood angels stuff was lazy. They had a chance to really wow us with a new sang guard. Instead, we got the catapiller from Bugs Life when he became a butterfly. Lol
@keyanklupacs6333 yeah but this new upgrade sprue ist absolutely lazy. I have no problem with upgrade sprues when they have the quality of the night lords one
Bold of you to assume they won't have replaced the entire Primaris range with Ultramaniax marines next edition. 2 mm taller, their Crankallows Bolters have an extra -1 AP, and they don't fit in the current transports. But there will be a Christmas box with 17 of them and an Ultramaniax Chumpestum Lt that can't actually attach to their squad.
I'd be surprised if we get anything new soon, maybe back end of 11th but I feel they'd be worried about the feelsbad of kits being made redundant. I've just not bought the kits - still running the firstborn kits, same base size and the thunder hammers 'counts as' eviscerators. I have had no issues
Death Company was so lazy. Honestly both blood angel units (DC and SG) are super disappointing. Especially compared to the dark angel releases. Deathwing knights and inner circle are great kits. Feels bad as a BA player. Atleast our character models are OK. Astorath was great but Lamartes and the Sanguinor aren't that great in my opinion. Like if I had the old ones I probably wouldn't have bought the new ones.
So I'm of two minds on this, on the one hand I would love unique sculpts for the Death Company because despite how much I dread painting all the details on old DC and Sang Guard I have to admit the models have so much personality, however if GW insists that Death Company just be "normal units painted black" then i think GW should expand who can be Death Company, Ie. DC Tanks, Transports, Libarians, Terminators, Flyers, all sorts of stuff like that.
Really stupid idea. They are mad berserkers being sent in to the frontlines to die. You’re not going to put them in anything as valuable as terminator armour or anything that needs a sane person operating it lol
@joesheridan9451 I mean sure, but then I remember that DC Dreadnoughts exist, what makes a Terminator more valuable then the 20ft tall, 10 ton war machine, but if no Terminators then anything in Gravis would work like DC Aggressors for example.
@@drebodollaz3504 the same way they do for normal Marines, by painting over their armor in black and sending them into battle, so if you fall to the Black Rage while in a dreadnought we just paint the dred black and send you on your way.
I'm gonna be real: Death Company always just looked to me like standard marines painted black with a bunch of red Xs on them. Just give them more decorative bits on the upgrade sprue and there would be no difference.
I'm more peeved that the Eviscerator was dropped when the Assault Squad was updated to Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs then a Death Company only one was released within a couple of new kits.
The recent Blood Angels launch for 40k was a huge miss. There were a few good models but the Sang Guard and Death Company has to be the most half baked launch I’ve seen from GW. Reminds me of Blizzard releasing wow patches half finished.
I much prefer the new sang guard, but I like them because they're easier for me to use in my non-Blood Angels chapter using BA rules. Less iconography to replace with sharks.
im beginning to really dislike primaris models, the og firstborn models had so much character and options to make them unique from each other now you get a sm combat patrol box with a bunch of generic primaris models with different pauldrons,[if your lucky, some only have a transfer sheet]
Only thing I could see them doing is a dedicated death company upgrade sprue. Even think that’s unlikely with the eviserator being on the standard BA sprue.
The comparison to the dark angels doesn’t hold up. They released an entire launch box themed around death company. They didn’t do that for the Raven wing stuff. And the Raven wing has way more stuff to release.
I got a lot of mileage out of the new faces. We never had snarling vampire heads before. But yeah, the shoulder pads were very disappointing. Lack of armor decorations was disappointing.
Wild AF to me GW wont even make ONE kit that is customer friendly like a DC kit with the Power Packs AND Jump Packs....such a disgustingly greedy company
The Sternguard and the Death Compang are maybe my biggest offenders when it comes to GW removing all the cool bits from models in an attempt to homogenize and make more recognizable the range.
I was gonna start a deathwatch army too, i guess in a way it makes sense they are typically small kill teams and not ran as an entire army in the lore but its a weird way to go about it.
GW has tested the waters with the cookie cutter primaris and upgrade sprue and since we just rolled over and took it thats what they will be going with.
One thing I don’t get is almost all intercessor kits have separated shin guards so why don’t any of the upgrade sprues have chapter specific shin/knee designs?
The Army Box was a pretty decent one, and the parts being generic made it a hell of a lot more flexible. I built mine with the Assault Intercessors as standard Marines, and the jump guys as Death Company. The big advantage of this approach is that it means people who play Successors (like me, my BA are Lamenters) don't have to try to cut loads of Blood Angels chapter iconography off their models. I had a lot of parts left over from the Firstborn Death Company (ironically, because I had to add in generic parts for this exact reason) so I was able to add a few shoulder pads to spice my DC up a little. It really is incredibly annoying when you play a Successor because you prefer the colour scheme, but all the unique Chapter units come with the wrong Chapter symbol hard-sculpted on to them. Also, I've pointed this out before but DC with lots of extra details don't make sense in the lore in any case. These are guys who lost their minds just before the battle and got their armour hastily re-sprayed black, then at the end of the battle they either die or get put down. The last thing you want to be doing to a guy who thinks a lampshade is Horus is try to get him to change into an entirely new suit. Personally I built all mine without helms, used the most feral-looking faces in the kit, and painted the eyes red and the mouth drooling. That says 'nutter' far better than a shoulder pad with an X sculpted onto it.
EDIT: Just wanted to say this isn't meant to be taken has hate or anger to anyone, this is genuine confusion over the video and the argument he makes about DA having it better. I'm not a Templar player and I vaguely recall them getting along but where is everyone getting the idea that Dark Angels had this amazing 10th Edition launch? We got an upgrade sprew to a generic unit for Deathwing, awesome new Deathwing Knights, the Inner Circle Companions (that were late and slated for 9th) and a new Belial. That's 1 Ugrade Sprew, 2 Units, 1 Character. By comparison the Blood Angels got the Sanguinary Guard, the Sanguinor, Sanguinary Priest, Lemartes, Astorath a new Blood Angels Captain model and datasheet with new wargear options, and the Death Company upgrade sprew. That is 4 - 5 New character minis, one of whom is a new datasheet, refreshed options and the Death Company split into three units with more rules and more board presence. that is almost 3x what the Dark Angels got. Frankly it might as well be since the Dark Angels also lost Ravenwing units. Even if we add late 9th in for our Primarch and Azrael, Blood Angels still got more things than us. I get you want special options for what you all feel is the core of your army, but this is not a legit comparison. It's really telling that the biggest release in 10th edition, bar maybe the Kroot range refresh, is somehow a "scam" because the subfaction didn't get more. I could go on about how DA rules and BA rules are also not a winning argument for the entitlement in this video but I wont.
As someone who’s starting his 40K venture with BA, I’ve just done 30 in total death company marines starting with the latest DC box. If they release a bespoke look in the next edition I probably will not end up getting them just on the basis that I can’t be bothered to paint and of course pay for another set of marines because they done them as primaris place holders this edition
The only issue I have is the lack of the cross-marked pauldron. Not that crosses are difficult to paint, but having molded crosses would go a long way toward making the kits true Death Company. I think a sprue with pauldrons and maybe greaves with Death Compant trappings would have been a great addition.
A second wave of Blood Angels is probably coming with 11th edition, and I would suspect it will include; new Death Company, a new Librarian dreadnought, a brand new yet unseen unit type (as a frame of reference: Inner Circie Companions) and finally, some kind of reborn Sanguinius or avatar of Sanguinius or whatever to be a huge Primarch-tier centerpiece model. But before that, I'm placing my bets on Space Wolves getting a late codex and model update toward the end of 10th edition, complete with a Leman Russ model, new Wolf Guard or Wulfen, and a few other oddballs.
I would expect that maybe when VV's become a thing there will be "Veteran Death Company" or similar data sheet to allow them to fall to Black Rage with their weapons and still have the points cost for the power weapons / thunder hammers or whatever they will be suited in (Please be at least LC's). But the regular DC will always just be Chainsword and the Eviscerater with little else. Hopefully that release the upgrade sprue added for DC would be substantial, with helmets, bits, shoulders, and maybe some alt weapons (two power weapons instead of LC's for example), maybe a handful of Inferno Pistols and some shields. But I can't really see another Blood Angel Infantry release that could effectively stealth release a second upgrade sprue for more BA parts that aren't bare heads, swords and shoulders.
I think they'll either release a Death Company Veterans kit (think sterngaurd veterans but assault DC version) or a more dedicated Death company veterans upgrade sprue, which at that point would be an update on the new primaris vangaurd veterans
I feel like if they do more they could have the death company specific kit have a different role than slightly elite infantry and a more radical look so that these upgrade sprite ones still have use and fill the basic infantry while the new ones are a more elite or heavy hitting unit with higher points cost
GW being lazy, anti-consumer & scummy with pricing practices while the majority of the customer base has no impulse controls & buys their crap anyway but wonders why GW doesn't try. In other news, water has been found to be wet.

GW is all about the money now. Why would they release a unique mini that requires R&D, a new mold, take up production and SKU slots, and won't sell as well as generic Space Marines? As it is they can release ANY Space Marine faction using just upgrade sprues while selling the generic versions. GW is either going to do a BA and use upgrade sprues on generic units OR reduce the unit count like the Sanguinary Guard.
It wouldn't surprise me if GW were to milk future releases for Death Company for every pound they can and have Death Company on foot as well as jump packs separately. GW Board room: Ok folk we've got a release of the blood angels Death Company coming up and we really want to impress people with their sales. Board room person 1: We include jump packs in the box along with a variety of weapons. CEO: What a daft idea your fired, Who's next? Board room person 2: We release multiple box sets blood angels Death Company on foot as well as with jump packs and have multiple upgrade sprues for the Death Company that look similar to the regular Blood Angels but with few minor changes and we sell the upgrade sprues with a starting price of about £30 CEO: Great idea
Yes, they can't update everything straight away. Space Wolves are rumoured to get Grey Hunters and Blood Claws next year, we've been using the Intercessor kits so far, so its not a scam. Its at least giving you something you can use as death guard as Primaris models. If SW's are getting GH and BC then Blood Angels will definitely get DC.
Release a SPECIFIC death company upgrade sprue. With all of the things that are missing and I think a lot of people will be content. The lack of power fists is so frustrating. It's a baffling refresh and they've really dropped the ball on the death company but they can bring it back. But as someone said. Hope is first step on the road to disappointment
Yeah, there's nothing that's really "Death Company" about the new upgrade sprue, except for the eviscerator and I guess a couple of decorative bits. I'd love a real DC sprue with DC-themed swords/hammers/power fists, unique shoulder pads and helmets, and leg/sarcophagus bits for the DC Dreadnought.
Thank the Emperor for the crimson lords campaign, although spending an extra 30 squid to make my marines more radge looking was a kick in the sarcophagus
If they release new Vanguard Veterans next edition I could maybe see them doing a "Veteran" version for Death Company as well? Keeping the ones just released as a cheaper option while then releasing a proper "veteran" death company kit with all the cool weapon options? Maybe this is just cope but I do feel bad for BA players, they really dropped the ball for you guys.
Upgrade sprues are great for kitbashing. I got Lemartes but collect Ultramarines. I simply swapped the BA Pauldron for one with an embossed omega symbol and you wouldn’t be able to tell. While I do think an upgrade sprue would’ve been a good starting point. It wouldn’t be a terrible idea to sell a dedicated box with a lot of options. Hell I also create GK and our main box goes 4 ways before you’ve decided on weapons.
I got the Death Company box but I am waiting to finish my Dark Angels before I start. While waiting for my DA Battleforce box I did start some flame intercessors
It is easier for GW to just add upgrade sprues to existing models. I think this is a trend we will see more of where old fully custom units are replaced with more generic models and an upgrade sprue. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the Emperor's Children release be this way. I think GW is going to focus on doing things that make it easier for them to deal with such huge model ranges. It makes sense from a logistics standpoint. I hope they do a better job on the upgrade sprues in the future. Death Company got screwed.
Just building the DC with a bunch of bits from the old kit and the new upgrade sprue on the new Intercessors and JP Intercessors. Sure it's kinda pricy if you want to calculate the total cost, but I've got the bits so... why not?
As a blood angel player the new update was so disappointing, all the death company updates were lazy and just primarisified them and the dreadnought while putting the dn librarian in legends and the original death company marines, the sanguinary guard had the same treatment, and the rest of the characters were either subpar or okay (other than lemartes I enjoyed him but even still the ball gag is a little goofy)
Look can I just jump in here and say that as far as the lore goes (unless it's changed in the most recent book) Blood Angels Marines have their own suit of Power Armour painted Black when they join the Death Company, they don't get a new suit of armour, so yeah the DC armour really shouldn't look that different to standard Red PA but painted Black and with some geejaws and such. Also there are Heavy Chainswords in the Heresy Era Weapons kit, which make fine Eviscerators
I made that comment on another video already. In the future we'll probably only see 1 custom unit per chapter and anything else will be handled with upgrade sprues. Saves GW money and sadly makes them more money as well.
Counterpoint: with the upgrade kits you can change regular intercessors of any variety into death company. Which is maybe cheaper? Note: I’m just being a devil’s advocate not particularly happy with the choice they made.
Common current BA strategy is two big blocks of 10 jump death company led by characters, which is six boxes that may or may not be gone real soon and I just can't justify anywhere near that much investment
The scripts and over amount of purity deals isn’t there. One of the coolest parts of their lore is the fact they are covered in script that details their previous victories.
I started a BA army with the fomo box and some other units I had, got to only needing a Combat patrol and Dante to get 2K points, but I can't bring myself to buy those models (Except dante) I had to buy printed part for the DC that ended up costing me the same as AI box. So I'm put this on hold until I get space for a 3D printer. Meanwhile will go for the AM which are actually good models and fun tanks unlike the repulsor family, specially the 30k ones that are similarly sized.
Selfishly, i kit bash models and have awesome primaris death company. It is more better and more unique than even the firstborn versions. Unless they want to do a whole weapon update, i do not see them changing anything. Now, if they want to change the weapons or add stuff like thunder hammers or lightning claws down the line, then they probably will update them. Personally, i love the weapon options currently, nothing as ridiculous as 10 powerfist and infero pistols, but also not as terrible as just one Sargent equivalent. This was the perfect mix and could have been worse. Also, when they update vanguard veterans, those will be an awesome base to work off of. I kit based some using bladegard and sternguard, and they came out awesome. You do not have to use intercessors. My suggestion would be to just get into kitbashing instead of waiting for GW. Invest your money in getting 3d printed upgrade parts. Only games have stuff, and so does etsy and ebay. They did the same with deathwing terminators as well. They are judt terminators with dark angels upgrade.
We can only hope, the pessimist in me says no, BUT the only thing that might hint that this is happening is the fact there is no actual DC kit currently and seems no sign of one. We got the launch box with the new characters etc. but you cannot go buy a box of death company on the GW site, even the crappy DC with bolt rifles con box (which was just intercessors with the old upgrade sprue) is not there. You would also compare it to the DAs and BTs releases and it is a bit crap, they both got two unique properly sculpted units, DAs got new DWKs and they even created the new ICCs, but apparently they can't be bothered to do a proper DC kit? If Wolves get several uniquely sculpted units and characters then BAs will have got by far the worst refresh from the divergent chapters despite being one of the most popular ones (if not the most popular one if you ignore the meta chasers just playing DAs because DWKs, Azrael and ICCs were cracked rules wise in gladius), so it seems a miss if they want to sell kits, even more so after the San Guard were received poorly. So maybe there is some hope that they either had the kit ready but decided to not release it for milking it more in 11th edition or maybe it just wasn't ready? I also hope our unique dreadnoughts come back, with better kits, even the DC Dread is basically phoned in, you could release a kit like before that does all 3 and is based on the brutalis or redemptor kit but has proper extra bits.
I feel it is OBVIOUSLY absurd that an edition or two would pass between a release!! 'Normal' companies work to define a successful game instead of a strict release schedule REGARDLESS of where the game actually IS!!! We all know this anyway, but WTF :(
We're Blood Angels, if there's one thing we can do is hope. Things suck but they can always get better; but yeah this was just overall bad for anything that wasn't a Character this refresh.
I think they will get a proper kit, but I don't think they *should*. It would be better if GW spent the time and money on something else for a less lavishly supported faction than Space Marines.
Death Company having drip never made any sense. They're stark raving mad, how is it that they're getting dressed up in all that bling? Are their battle brothers tying them up, forcibly removing them from their old armor, and forcing them into blinged out Death Company armor? It makes WAAAAAAAAAAAY more sense that they're hog tied, spray painted black in their old armor, then let loose on the battlefield. Exaggerating for comedic effect. Blood Angels players need to accept the change and get over it, or use 3d printed bits.
Was considering starting flesh tearers but after seeing new deathcompany/sanguainary guard along with Gabriel Seth going to legends I’m not gonna bother.
Odds are "no" sadly. I feel equally disappointed with the generic Deathwing Terminators, who are just generic terminators with an upgrade sprue. Compared to the deathwing knights, they are insipid.
4 primaris characters somewhat makes up for the poor unit releases. Though i think they will be bringing out a new death company in the future, the design choices made for the SG were terrible, would you even want a new unit of death company. Either it is more likely to be an 11th edition release, than a 10th.
It's not a scam. It's a gacha. You buy a unit without knowing how long you can play it before it get removed or nerfed at the point it became unplayable.
I would be fine, if they jus had cut down the options of the Death Company, but making them much more generic Marines, while they had one of the coolest kits before, does not feel good! Think with bits like the ones showed here, they can at least look better!
This seems a lot like complaining about having to pay half as much money for Death Company minis. Instead of paying USD62.50 for 5 models (eg. BT Sword Brethren), you pay USD62.50 for 10 Assault Intercessors. Blood Angels players got three huge wins in 10th edition: 1.) Heavily discounted launch box (the best discount on a box in ages) 2.) Combat Patrol that discounted all their new minis (captain and sang. guard ) 3.) Death Company can be made from Assault Intercessors rather than a more expensive kit. Kit bashing to improve your Assault Intercessors is easy - slap some purity seals on it, maybe lengthen a chainsword to become an Eviscerator. Painting a red X on a shoulder pad is trivial. Worst comes to worst, you buy the upgrade kit and spread the cost among Terminators and Gravis and Phobos units. As a Deathwatch player, I can only shake my head at Blood Angels players complaining about this shit. On the balance, this is the year of the Blood Angels. If I hadn't just started a Dark Angels army (thanks Deathwing Assault) I'd have started Blood Angels.
3D print the bits. If they're going to be lazy to force people into buying their overexpensive upgrade crap, then I think it's more than acceptable to just print off the stuff for free.
This “refresh” has been a total disappointment. I do not bother with those little dangly bits and already had so many BA icon shoulder pads. Approximately half of the codex is DC related, with lack listed rules, and most of that is just generic black painted units. I have run the DC with both Lemartes & Astorath, while they perform fine it is an expensive unit that doesn’t perform as well as it used to. I may very well be swapping them out for BGV in an impulsor.
Actually, i dont see them as a scam but better for the average player. Do you have 30 intercessors and you dont know what to do with them? Paint them black and they are a new unit. Its freaking handy and you save some bucks.
Unfortunately this really feels like copium. It's hard to say they'll /never/ get a proper kit, but I don't think it's happening in the next several years. Sad as it was, this was the big death company release. GW isn't gonna do another one anytime soon.
I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Dark Angels had this amazing 10th Edition launch? We, and yes I am a Dark Angel collector (as well as Chaos) got an upgrade sprew to a generic unit for Deathwing Terminators, awesome new Deathwing Knights, the Inner Circle Companions (that were late and slated for 9th) and a new Belial. That's 1 Character, 2 Units, 1 Upgrade Sprew. By comparison the Blood Angels got the new Sanguinary Guard models, the Sanguinor refresh, the new Sanguinary Priest model, Lemartes, Astorath a new Blood Angels Captain model (and datasheet with new wargear options to my understanding), and the Death Company upgrade sprew. That is 4 - 5 New character minis (one of whom is a new datasheet) and the Death Company split into three unit, which means more rules and board presence (more units that can be taken 3x each and more units with special abilities). That is almost 3x what the Dark Angels got, frankly it might as well be since the Dark Angels also lost Ravenwing units. Even if we add in late 9th for the comparison, netting our Primarch and Azrael, the Blood Angels still got more releases than than the Dark Angels. I get you want special options for what you all feel is the core of your army, but this is not a legit comparison. It's really telling that the biggest release in 10th edition, bar maybe the Kroot range refresh, is somehow a "scam" because the subfaction didn't get more. I could go on about how DA rules and BA rules are also not a winning argument for the entitlement in this video, but I won't since that was not brought up. And just to be clear this isn't meant to be an attack on Blood Angel fans, but this particular take seems like an over-reaction to something all the Space Marines are suffering, not just the Blood Angels.
We got three bad looking characters, the world's most dogshit sang guard, somehow even worse death company that shouldn't count as a release, and the removal of some of the best looking 40k kits from sale. Oh and our librarian dreadnoughts are legends now I'm of the opinion that even the da release was bad, but I'm a nitpicky little shit when it comes to the chapters I enjoy. Compare the new gw releases to the absolute bounty of STL files if you know where to look, and it's clear who cares more about 30k/40k and who cares more about lining their pockets
@@pierat3338 I wont sit here and pretend it wasn't a downgrade from the 1st born units, but it was a larger release was my schtick. All of the Primaris releases are sucking the souls out of their chapters not just BA that's all and I hope its fixed. Side note I think the Sanguinor looks fine lol
@@Noble6Espeo Oh yeah don't get me wrong I think DA got more shafted than people realise. Inner circle companions look alright at a surface level, but they're just three copy pasted torsos in different poses. GW's been doing this since primaris released, and people keep buying into it. I'm not even a fan of the new dw knights I think they just look bland compared to the old ones, they're not terrible they're just eh. Azrael's new model is fine... I guess. Don't like the 50mm base though. I think my point with DA is that they got less releases but what they got is passably "fine" (by what appears to be the common standard nowadays -_-), so it seems we have different views on that one lol (despite what the internet might suggest that isn't a bad thing). Sanguinor looks almost fine from the front, except his pose looks like he's just T-posing in midair because they didn't give him enough vertical motion compared to the old model, so he doesn't have that rising angel feel. His helmet is also atrocious (sure, easily changed, but should I have to do GW's job for them?), and when you turn him around they added those stupid fucking primaris winglets to what should be a mk4 jump pack that's a relic from the heresy. The new wings that I can only describe as plastic looking are a severe downgrade too.
"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment."
They were in previous editions as well

@@Acorbet86 I'll be honest, I completely forgot about Tycho lol.
Given the lack of bling I find it obvious they will sell some more complete upgrade sprue in the future. It is the GW's way.
i've not seen any changes in sculpts in lore of death company.
paint armor black, paint cross on your shoulder for one time attack. it will be strange to make any other differences, for people who's intenteded to be used one last time (or mb equiping them with cheaper armors, and weapons, but i don't think any blood angels fans will like it)
lorely based death company looks now on the table like they should do in all chapters, besides, maybe, flesh tearers, who use fallen brothers, more then once.
@@ВалераПетров-ф4с"It will be strange to make changes to people whose job is to be used one last time"
That is precisely the reason it'd be done. This is a theocratic empire built upon superstition, hate and zealotry.
Also still baffled Assault Terminators and Assault Vanguard Veterans didn't get an update
I bet they are in 11th
I'm leaning on Assault Termies coming for a 2nd wave of generic marine releases later this edition. But Vanguards forn 11th.
@@ToddGrindleThis. Dark Imperium had shooty Marines against somewhat choppy Death Guard. Indomitus contained choppy Marines against mostly shooty Necrons. Leviathan contained mostly shooty Marines against mostly choppy Tyranids. If the rumors of 11th being Marines Vs Orks are true, they'll probably go for very elite choppy Marines Vs mostly shooty, horde-y green-skins. (Probably lots of Grots)
You know what, I'm going to call it now:
Marines: Gravis Chaplain, 5(3?) * Jump-Pack Vanguard Veterans, 5 * Heavy Assault Intercessors, 10 * Primaris Tactical Marines (these will be equipped with Bolt Rifles, Bolt Pistols and Astartes Chainswords, plus a Special and Heavy Weapon so your firstborn models are not a WYSIWYG proxy and to make them more elite than Intercessors of either flavour and to sell the models to players who already loaded up on Intercessors of both flavours) plus a couple of random characters, like a Lieutenant in Terminator Armour and an Ancient or a Techmarine in Phobos Armour, or something weird like that.
@@bombkangaroo As an Ork player, if the rumors of 11th being the 're-launch' of the main Orky model line are true, then I'd expect new redone kits for;
- Warboss multipart kit
- Wyrdboy
- Nobz
- Lootas
- Burnas
- Bikes
Multi-part Boyz are very sorely needed, as the current "Nu Boyz" kit is complete garbage, and the old 4th ed box will no doubt be retired to the dustbin of history
New units could easily include things such as;
- 'Ard Boyz
- Mad Boyz
- Cyborks
- Grot Tanks
- Looted Tanks
We honestly DO NOT need GW wasting plastic on redoing the Killa Kans or Deff Dreads - those kits are still amazing!
The first born death company kit is just perfect
Seeing how it would be older Marines being more susceptible to Black Rage, it fits to have those in Death Company.
I just wish they would give us more decorative bits.
The blood angels update has me worried about the space wolves update.
All of their unique units will be relegated to a single upgrade sprue and will just be grey-blue painted ultramarines.
Idk, you’re overlooking the Black Templars and Dark Angels releases that were really great.
@@BreadTeleporter1968 BT were in 9th, and every codex in 10th has been trimming units while in 9th they were adding them.
Dark Angels: were a crap launch that gave us monoposed bladeguard 2.0 and a worse deathwing knights box.
New Deathwing Knights box Options:
- 5 monopose deathwing knights
Old Deathwing Terminator Box Options:
- 5 Deathwing Knights
- [5] Deathwing Command squad
- 5 Deathwing Terminators
Outside of the size change the box is worse.
@@tdlainc.4737 I wouldn't say new DA update was crap, not perfect but not bad at all. Both DW Knights and Companions are really cool models and were well recieved (also everything is monopose-ish nowdays). But compared to Blood Angels the Dark Angels had a big win.

Yes, The next model will be a DC LT 😂😂😂😢😢😢
The new death company was so god damn lazy
All of the blood angels stuff was lazy. They had a chance to really wow us with a new sang guard. Instead, we got the catapiller from Bugs Life when he became a butterfly. Lol
That's pretty much all Primaris stuff. Change weapon with CAD or throw in an upgrade and profit.
The entire new blood angels release was lazy
You act like dozens of chapter specific units weren't the tactical marine kit + upgrade sprue for YEARS.
There's some irony in Chaos having far less of a disconnect with even just things like sharing transports and characters between assorted units.
Don't forget- they'll have a slightly different base size also
I'd be surprised if we get anything new soon, maybe back end of 11th but I feel they'd be worried about the feelsbad of kits being made redundant. I've just not bought the kits - still running the firstborn kits, same base size and the thunder hammers 'counts as' eviscerators. I have had no issues
I would be happy if they did a death company upgrade kit. Include the transfers in there too like the launch box.
That’s what they have done and it’s dog water
Stockholm syndrome.
Can you put a Dreadnought into regular tacticus armor…? No right? How else would a dreadnought that fell to the black rage be sent to battle?
@@drebodollaz3504 the same way they do for normal Marines, by painting over their armor in black and sending them into battle, so if you fall to the Black Rage while in a dreadnought we just paint the dred black and send you on your way.
Yea hopefully they update the Sanguinary Guard too. Very outdated models despite being only 2 months old
Copium
Uhhhh yea? There’s literally no copium strong enough to get me to like those new models, they blow chunks
Just buy the old models, they're wonderful
@@richardseaton6390 They really do still have my heart
@@stephenwithamI’m glad you enjoy them. I was going to get some until I found some great STL proxies.
im beginning to really dislike primaris models, the og firstborn models had so much character and options to make them unique from each other now you get a sm combat patrol box with a bunch of generic primaris models with different pauldrons,[if your lucky, some only have a transfer sheet]
At least we got 3rd party creators to fill in the gap
I got a lot of mileage out of the new faces. We never had snarling vampire heads before. But yeah, the shoulder pads were very disappointing. Lack of armor decorations was disappointing.
They don't do specialized kits for BA anymore really. It's just all upgrade sprues. I miss my bespoke squad boxes with a shit load of extra bits.
Wild AF to me GW wont even make ONE kit that is customer friendly like a DC kit with the Power Packs AND Jump Packs....such a disgustingly greedy company
Absolutely criminal what GW did to Dc and to a lesser extent SG
Hear me out, GW release a new Brother Corbulo model BUT he has a jump pack and counts as a Sanguinary Priest for leader rules stacking.
Or back pieces for powerfists?
because money
I feel bad for you blood angel players. Black Templars and dark angels got incredible primaris model updates compared to what the blood angels got.
Question is, what is the cheapest for the corporation to do? They'll do that. The enshittification of 40k is well underway.
I miss my wall of 10 thunderhammers
Remember the upgrade kit for old cadians that lasted basically nothing?

They should do some sick new models for Death Company. I think they’ve been a staple of the faction for a long time.

I bought a box of the standard DC when they announced this box. Now I have all the upgrade parts I can eat!~
The hardest working man in the Imperium; doesn't even take Sunday off.
Its crazy they are removing the unique parts of chapter specific legions when 30K has a plethora of inuque flare for each legion
I would be shocked if they made new ones in the next few years - if they changed the weapon load out it would also be a piss off at this point
They are judt terminators with dark angels upgrade.
i realy do hope they re do them, the firstborn deathcompany is just perfect
GW's New Coke moment
Its not just the death company, Games workshop simply doesnt make new stuff for any of the chapters anymore
Ironically found a squad of the old death company and man, the lack of effort is so disappointing
another reason why chaos marimes is the best space marines in 40k
Do we get a those new detachments from 1st dec or does it only happen mon-fri?
DG one is out
I feel it is OBVIOUSLY absurd that an edition or two would pass between a release!! 'Normal' companies work to define a successful game instead of a strict release schedule REGARDLESS of where the game actually IS!!! We all know this anyway, but WTF :(
They were literally half a box of intercessors with an upgrade sprue for like 10$ more
Im thinking we could see a DC killteam at some point in the future
Meanwhile, the death company stonks just crashed 😮😮😮
Was considering starting flesh tearers but after seeing new deathcompany/sanguainary guard along with Gabriel Seth going to legends I’m not gonna bother.
This is the second time they did them dirty so my guess is no, and getting rid of the furioso dreadnought was a damn shame
Odds are "no" sadly. I feel equally disappointed with the generic Deathwing Terminators, who are just generic terminators with an upgrade sprue. Compared to the deathwing knights, they are insipid.
I will NEVER accept Primaris and I am happy to die on that hill with my armies of wonderful, artful and loved TRUE space marines.
Blood Angels players got three huge wins in 10th edition:
1.) Heavily discounted launch box (the best discount on a box in ages)
2.) Combat Patrol that discounted all their new minis (captain and sang. guard )
3.) Death Company can be made from Assault Intercessors rather than a more expensive kit.
No.
I dont know if they'll be replaced but I know gw should have done Catachans instead of Krieg.
As much as I want them to update them, I have bought and built a pure death company army for 10th.
A load of yapping holy
We got three bad looking characters, the world's most dogshit sang guard, somehow even worse death company that shouldn't count as a release, and the removal of some of the best looking 40k kits from sale. Oh and our librarian dreadnoughts are legends now
I'm of the opinion that even the da release was bad, but I'm a nitpicky little shit when it comes to the chapters I enjoy.
Compare the new gw releases to the absolute bounty of STL files if you know where to look, and it's clear who cares more about 30k/40k and who cares more about lining their pockets
@@Khqra lol fair, guess this got me more thant I thought
