I'm going to show you how to harvest honeydew melons. I have 5 harvesting tips that will guide you to know when to harvest your melons. I had a hard time in the past picking ripe melons off the vine. The skin of rind needs to be yellow. If its green or white it's not right. The weight of the melon is important as well. If it feels heavy that is a sign that its ready. The next tip is the rind is bumpy on the side of it where it touched the ground. Finally when I push down on the belly button it is soft. I mean the melon has an area where there is a little give when pressing down on the melon.

You just scooped out $60 worth of seeds if you had to buy them today in seed packets at these inflation prices in stores today 🤣. Everybody should be saving their seeds today and growing from their own saved seeds plus trade them with others.
HELLO PD, I sure did scoop them up. Every last one of the seeds. I have to learn how to harvest collard greens seeds and kale. I will look it up and see so I can stop buying those seeds
@@GrowSomethingTasty Collards and Kale are real easy leave them in the ground and they eventually flower with a bunch of yellow flowers. The stalks go up high and the seed pods are like clusters of thin green beans. When they dry brown crack them open and a few seeds pop out. There's even people that mixed all their seeds together of every brasicca to mix and hybridize and they are selecting for the tastiest green seed pods and flowers and are eating all that together rather than leaves. After all just eating the florets is just like broccoli and cauliflower which is broccoli that is kept blanched so it no longer has green color in the flower stalk part. All these plants are the same exact plant. Kind of scary when you think on how dependent we have become on just one plant for all these different vegetables.

Gardening with Bear Brown ... Just found you in my suggested video feed.. watched a couple of your videos and thought I would shoot you a tip to growing bigger sweater melons that you might not know about.. if you take a table spoon and a half of epsom salt ( you know the same stuff you find in the pharmacy ) and mix it with a gallon of water in a pump sprayer.. and then use that as a spray for your leaves on your vine, doing it every two weeks as they grow, it will give them a big boost. here is the logic.. ok so epsom salts are Magnesium sulfide.. when you dissolve it in water it breaks down into its two base components magnesium and sulfur and can be absorbed straight into the leaves.. the magnesium is an essential nutrient that aids in the production of coprophil. more coprophil means greener leaves and more nutrient production to be put into your melon's. the sulfur is a dual purpose nutrient.. it aids in the metabolic processes of the plant.. and also acts to keep them healthy and boost their immune system.. sulfur is a natural antibacterial, anti fungal, and anti mold. think about it.. back before humans discovered antibiotics .. if you got sick, the doctor would prescribe sulfur tablets to get over it.. they still do for people with an antibiotic allergy.. some of the sulfur will absorb directly into the plant.. the left over will stay on the leaves and ward off things like powdery mildew, and funguses that affect many vine plants.. I have done this for years and ever since not had a bit of any mold or fungus problems .. try it for your self by spraying half with, and half without and you will see a noticeable difference in the color and health of your vines.. and a BIG boost to the flavor and sweetness of your fruits..

Melons are great when you squeeze a little bit of lemon juice over it. Especially when it very sweet.

I have five melons on my vines right now that I am leaving out there, this being my first year to grow these, I accidentally harvested the first one WAY too early and it broke my heart 😭 because I was so proud of it but then I cut it open and it wasn’t even edible- visually it was beautiful and it smelled amazing but it was hard as a rock and no sweetness to it whatsoever. So I am leaving the rest on the vines - especially after seeing this! Thank you again!!
