    Hey @katie On the Jasper can you comment on the increase or reduction in terms of time and not just %. Seeing that he got less overall sleep I’m curious if the time was stolen from just light sleep or what that distribution ended up looking like. Thx for the video and reply in advance!

      I #uspect the body would increase deep to accommodate the shorter sleep amount too. A missing cycle so we have 5o dismiss his data sadly.

    Please talk about the subscription costs for eight sleep. You have to pay for autopilot with at least $8 / mos and for all features, 15$ / mos.

    • @christopherdurand88
      @christopherdurand88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a subscription ?

    • @citadelo5ricks
      @citadelo5ricks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christopherdurand88 yes, one tier for "AI" driven sleep adjustment and then a second tier that includes actual sleep coaching. With no subscription you get a daily temperature adjustment of 4 sleep cycles. I think AI is more continuous adjustment through the night, that's my guess. I find it irritating. Maybe someone will crack it and I can have more data points per night. Considering the scale of the data this "AI" portion could be done daily for hundreds of thousands of people on a modest computer, plus one for backup.

    My wife definitely runs hot when its time to sleep while I tend to "hog the blankets" since I'm always freezing! We ordered our own Eight Sleep after seeing your first review on it a few months ago and have had ours for 1 month now! What a difference! I get to slip into a warm bed while my wife visits Antarctica every night LOL!
    Appreciate all the honesty and integrity in your work Katie. Thank you and sleep well! :)

    Thanks so much for sharing your HRV data. It is really inspiring to know there are other people out there who are healthy and still have low HRV (like me). It takes me a ton of work to try to get it up to high 40s...

    Same comment as before, very underrated channel. I don't see it growing fast enough with so much competition. You need interviews with heavy hitters... ala MQBHD or similar.

      MKBHD is my hero! It's on my bucket list to do a collab with him! Thanks for the support Jaime! I wish I could grow faster, but in the meantime I'm doing what I love so I couldn't be happier!

    Love seeing a fellow biohacker. You might want to look into the new Chilisleep dock pro. I love the lifestyle emphasis of the app for 8sleep but no airplane mode and constant EMFs while I sleep is a dealbreaker for me. Fortunately the new chili sleep is even quieter, more comfortable, etc. etc.

  • @pr0jektcha0s

    I’m planning to purchase an Eight Sleep. However, I wish the autopilot feature didn’t require a subscription.

    I own the Chilipad but I've taken off as I could feel the water tubes and they were bothering me. I sweat no matter what the temp is in the room so I want to give cooling pads a shot again. As any owner of both Chili and the 8, which do you find more comfortable? Do you notice a difference in feeling of the tubes between the two solutions?

    Welcome Back Katie, we missed you.
    Jasper's sleeping data is very interesting & i think that sleep was never about the number of hours but its all around the quality of those hours even if they are 25% less.

  • @dukelee7181

    Water leaks a problem with these pads? can cause a bed of mold to sleep in that won’t go away until you throw away your mattress. Is that an issue?

    Many thanks for the info & insights.
    Question: Besides the continuous effort to improve the software tech, is Eight Sleep working to improve on the hardware tech? Like making the water delivery box smaller, better sensors, etc? If so, when is it estimated to be released?

    On your recommendation, I purchased the ooler, a year and a half ago. At best, it can only cool down the mattress to -10 of the room temperature. Does the 8-sleep get cooler? I would love it to get the exact temperature I desire not limited by room temp. My bedroom can stay at 85% in the summer, I desire a cooler solution. Also, I left IG, so I can't chat with you there. Love the video!

    • @BluD
      @BluD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've watched comparisons and everyone say it gets much colder but it would be awesome if someone actually showed how much of a difference it can drop from room temp.

  • @steviebboy69

    Its kind of funny because where I am I turn on the electric blanket before bed as its winter here and I am in a colder part of Australia, and in an old house. But i do get hot under the Doona or quilt or what ever you may call them over there. It can be to warm under it but then too cold to have the thing pulled back, except on frosty nights when it gets real cold in the house as in like a fridge and then its just perfect under the covers. I do sleep better on those nights. Summer its a different matter.

    • @vtigzy
      @vtigzy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am in Sydney but have the aircon pumping every night despite it being winter now! I also do like to be wrapped up in a big doona though so a cold pad to sleep on would be super handy rather than needing to have aircon down so low all the time - Especially considering my partner would prefer the heater!

    • @steviebboy69
      @steviebboy69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vtigzy Where I am in North eastern Vic it gets down to -3 or so and its pretty cold as i said. The house is around 7.c right now so its pretty cold, but then I have shorts on , but have windcheater up top. no sun at all today so its been cold.

    I have a disease called erythromelalgia. As someone whos health is extremely poor due to waking up roasting hot every night and getting poor sleep, this could be very helpful . It looks like they start at $2400 though? Do you think Chilisleep is worth considering, at about half the cost, or is Eight Sleep so much better that it is not worth considering? Thanks for the feedback

    • @vtigzy
      @vtigzy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am unfamiliar with specifics of your condition but, as someone with health issues myself & who also runs hot & has a LOT of sleep issues, my concern is that the 8 sleep only runs if connected to wifi all night. Definitely people with health issues all ready notice a lot more impact from all those tech waves buzzing through the air so can't imagine that is the best to have on the very mattress you are sleeping to recover every night. Am also considering the chillipad/ooler system but haven't taken the plunge yet.

    what would you recommend for someone who has insomnia / sleep apnea and over heats A LOT over the night.

    • @katie_moore
      @katie_moore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on how hot it is. Some nights I still sleep with AC but I set it much lower than I did before having the EightSleep. I often sleep with AC off now where that would have been a disaster without the EightSleep

    How do you wash the Pod Pro cover?

    • @katie_moore
      @katie_moore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not easily... Eightsleep basically recommends you give it a sponge bath lol.
      This is from their website:
      Do not use commercial products with harsh chemicals in them such as bleach or ammonia. Not only are these chemicals too harsh, but they will also ruin the material and the interior of the foam.
      A preferred way to clean the foam is by using a mild detergent, such as dishwashing liquid soap that is mixed with water until it is in a bubble form. Next, with a clean sponge, dip it into the bubbles and clean with a circular motion from the outermost portion of the stain towards the interior of it. Be sure to only use the bubbles to remove the stain without dipping the sponge into the solution.
      If you do not have a mild detergent, you can also use a water and vinegar mixture. Put the mixture into a spray bottle and lightly spray the mattress, scrubbing the stained part quickly with an absorbent clean cloth. The vinegar will help dilute the stain and will also soak up any unpleasant odor.

    • @coreyworthingtonii9230
      @coreyworthingtonii9230 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@katie_moore Oh, ok, that makes sense actually. I suppose if you buy the Pod Pro (the cover is all I’m interested in) then the material is gonna largely be water-proof, right? My only thought was that it might be permeable between the veins which allow for the water to run through. Based on your response though, it sounds like the entire Pod Pro cover is waterproof, and thus your wash it like you would a piece of plastic, rather than a piece of cloth.
