    Dude, this was the best damn near written in crayon so us window lickers can understand it explanation I’ve seen on how to use these things. Just picked up my first flasher and have been watching a lot of instructional videos but this one is the best I’ve found. Thanks man!

    That has to have been the most thorough and complete course on using the Vexilar, and I loved the visual aids, they really complete the picture of what I'm seeing, great job! The Kitty is adorable!

      @@RogersRigs The ponds and lakes in my area (Washington, DC) have a layer of ice on them now, but the ice doesn't get thick enough to ice fish here, so none of the jurisdictions allow it for obvious safety reasons, so I'm just waiting for it to thaw so I can get back out there.

      @@RogersRigs There is one spot only about 25 minutes from me, on the river near a warm water discharge, but it's such a popular spot, it's always loaded with fishermen, and the fish have seen just about everything, but I'm considering trying it anyway, gotta get that "tug" on the line, haha.

    This is an awesome lesson on using a flasher! I always felt like a flasher had so much more potential than what I used it for. the illustration of the color change as the fish entered the cone makes so much sense. Thank you for sharing this!

    Awesome informative video, tyvm for sharing! I found your baits but for some reason I can't find the links you described for the flashers! I have had my fl8 for maybe 30 years but I need a different one for fishing deeper water 20-60 ft! Mine just doesn't seem to help me except in shallow water only! Looking for any advice for a quality unit that I can use that will not break the bank that I will use every day for summer time fishing as I really don't ice fish anymore! Ty again for your video

      @@RogersRigs had about 4 inches here a week ago and went out on a couple farm ponds did fairly good. Mostly bluegills but any fish is better than none 😀. All melted here last weekend and now we wait again

    This year is my first time trying ice fishing. My buddy has one of these and swears by it. After looking around for what the hell this was I came across this video. I absolutely love this video. I'm a normal dude that likes to fish and this is perfectly explained in lamens terms. Now I'm going tomorrow morning to buy one. Lol

    Nice video, for demonstration and understanding showing a cone, but keep in mind its more like a jigsaw puzzle piece shape, but showing a cone is easy to understand for the newbee

    My striker 4 has a spit screen zoom feature to it.. i just upgraded to the striker 5cv and it too has the spit screen zoom.. i love the garmin line.. caught my first laker through the ice last year with it...

      that sounds perfect! i gotta look into those. is there any delay between your movement of the jig and it showing up on the screen? do you fish panfish deep with it? Thanks for the info J!

      @@RogersRigs no lag time at all.. i think i was running split screen in a-scope mode.. plus you can zoom in and out.. plus i can run a graph showing live and past view which will show a line for the fish coming at your lure.. I'd send a picture of my screen but can't attach it here..

    I picked up the striker 4 for crappie fishing off my dock.
    Headed to Michigan for Walleye in February and learning ice fishing in Kansas ... I can't get a vex yet, but see why I need one now.

      Good luck! the striker will serve you well. especially in 15 feet or less which is not an unusual walleye depth

    had some ok action on the ice today but 80% of the fish that moved in and out just stayed still and did not respond to anything. If marks come in but sit and do nothing are they most likely baitfish? I know they weren't weeds

      sometimes in this situation, i put on the smallest tungsten i have and try to get them to bite just to get an Identification. usually its tiny perch, or redfin shiners, or smelt. but sometimes its semi-hibernating sunfish, bass, or crappie. or occasionally it is wispy weeds waving slowly.

      yeah my buddy did the same thing last year. they are hard to read on panfish in deep water. how deep do you usually fish?

      Thanks for the sub! on the whole the sonar is beter for fish catching. the camera is fun. but it takes a while to set up on each hole and it somtimes spooks the fish or the caught fish wrap around the camera line. the sonar sets up fast and gives you really good fish catching data

      Yes. there is somthing about the way video records the screen of a vexilar that makes it flicker like crazy. i dont know what it is but in real life it is much more of a steady light

      @@RogersRigs I think it has to do w/ synchronizing with digital “shutter” speeds and LEDs. LEDs blink. Look at LED lights like xmas lights or taillights and move your eyes back and forth. They don't streak or trail they make dotted lines.

    How can you tell there are fish on bottom

      well if the bottom is dead flat. its just the bottom. but if there is a little movement of red or yellow flashes, then there may be fish hugging the bottom. and if there is anyhing moving above the bottom line. its frobably a fish. but MAYBE a weed. it just takes time to learn the different flashes, but its worth learning! thanks for watching Sean
