  • James Stewart was my hero growing up on a dirt bike. When we heard that RedBull Straight Rhythm would be two-strokes only in 2018 we thought there would be cooler way to pay homage to James Stewart than by going racing on the #259 machine.
For those who would like to watch a 4 minute raw version with NO MUSIC click here:
    • James Stewart | #259 (...
Thank you Spencer Luczak for the beautiful bike build.
Thank you The Flying Iron Horse Ranch for providing a picture perfect location for filming.
Thank you RAK Racing, The Collective Experience, Federal Hill Home Theaters, MotoTape for being gracious sponsors of the video project and the racing efforts for Redbull Straight Rhythm.

I love James and have been around him since he got on board Team Kawasaki as a 125 factory rider. I'll never forget Mark Johnson of Team Green telling me how impressed they were with how hard he worked, how much he rode, and how many KX's he destroyed......a month. They loved it! R&D feedback was infinite. Historically, only RC came close.
What I really admired was that he practiced his "checkered flag-victory jump" every day, every practice. The same way Jerry Rice used to take every catch in 49er practice all the way to the end zone, regardless of where on the field the pass was caught. Visualize victory. Practice winning. Develop the habit of winning. Expect to win. Every race is your race to win.
Furthermore, in nearly 50 years in and around the business of motocross and supercross, there are very few people I don't know, haven't met, or don't consider friends. "Big James" Stewart Sr. is among my favorite people I've had the pleasure and honor to have been around in the business. His enthusiasm is unrivaled, wealth of knowledge is endless, and love of this sport is infectious.
My father was never 1/500th the man, father, cheerleader, provider, husband, or role model that James Stewart Sr. is.

When I hear the name James Bubba Stewart I think of a boy who who rode Like the Wind! He was an innovator. Fear was not an option! Win at all costs. Then he came out with that TV show Bubba's world. And that's when everything changed! From then on he rode Like the Wind but paid the price...... Motocross is mental and once the mental part goes away Talent isn't far behind. Don't leave us like this James! Get your shit together and have one last stand! Man, I've been a hardcore fan since I got into sx/mx back in 96. It has always fascinated me and I mimicked everything I could on a redline bmx bike lol. Followed all the top guys careers up until about 01 when I started reading more about James in the mags. I was hooked because finally I could show my family it wasn't just white guys racing (yep I'm Black).
James opened that door for me and helped my family embrace and support my decision to pursue racing! You guys don't understand how crushed I am that he just disappeared but also how awesome I think this video is! Aside from the fact that I ride a Yamaha now (2stroke:) I still have all of the dope fox 360 and tactic gear he wore back then. I'm a St Louis resident, I was hype to have met and talk to him from 04 onward each event he attended at the Edward Jones. Anyway, thanks for this... definitely made my day!

Tbf back then it _was_ the 125 class. People were just starting to slowly switch to 4 strokes and they weren’t nearly as OP compared to the 2 strokes as they are now days. It’s still a feat though. Like when he pulled over mid race on his kx 125 to let Reed pass on his yz 250f, just to blow back by him in a couple turns and leave him in the dust.

No riding technique has revolutionized modern motocross like the Bubba Scrub. When James Stewart hopped on the pro scene in 2002 at a ripe 16, he brought with him enough youthful exuberance. James, developed a technique of throwing his bike sideways on the face of jumps, which allowed for him to hit the jumps with more speed while at the same time staying lower than other riders. The Bubba Scrub not only helped lap times, it also looks awesome.

This sizes the impact James had and still has, no matter what kind of end he had, everyone still sees the sign he left. He rode the bike like an artist, a dancer, he brough to the sport something never seen before. Everybody misses him. Haters gonna hate, legends like Bubba gonna live forever.

Aj bro, you are the man.....Just fyi , ur teaching style and interactive approach was just intoxicating giving I'm very hungry to hone in my skills and as you know when we are interested ( more like obsessed) in things that curb our inquisitive and insatiable thirst to get better, improve, and become 1 with a great passion, we get entrenched and fully immersed at a pace that is sure to burn us out,...and knowing that passion and skill can elevate you to transcendent moments of greatness and a renewed determination to be the best me that I can be......and just studying you and your approach/ technique, I was able to quickly narrow down my areas of weakness tht I need to improve on, and I know tht if I want to get next level skilled, i have to constantly test my capability and limits on the edge of what's known to me and and sometimes it's humble pie and then that negative self talk wants to come.in and say, " maybe im not cut out for it, maybe i should just quit..".but I ALWAYS PERSERVEAR, AND ALWAYS MAKE MY PREVIOUS WEAKNESS ,....TODAYS ASSETTS....and that's a powerful existencial synonym analagous with an outline on how TO TACKLE Life with fear of failure always embraced and known tht we will again make a mistake, we are human, but we can always get just a bit better than what we were yesterday thru practice, implementation of self discipline to make yourself FOCUS,.....LASER BEAM FOCUS,.....I know what I need, now I need to go GET IT..LIFES to short to pussyfoot around always mad at the world.... AND THANK GOD I HAVE A SENSE OF SELF WORTH TO NOT lie to myself with tales of wishful thinking yet it's those moments when I'm scared and vulnerable is when I always tend to PUSH BACK TWICE AS HARD , TO PROVE TO MY OTHER SELF I AM WORTH IT, AND that's what keeps driving me onto the progress wagon instead of the stagnation of the dead wagon.....I've learned alot and honestly have gotten much more efficient and making new good riding habits and def doing lots of drills to get my ideal motocross body in form and back in optimal shape...and to work and develop core riding muscles like legs back neck...arms,,.,.u know the drill.....,I always say progress not perfection, perfection can come later, as long as u keep striving for it, small steps, one chunk at a time, always will get better like a snowball effect accumulating momentum slowly but surely dreams are one realization away from ultimate freedom of mind to do whatever u love in this life and don't bother w any of the rest of the B's as it's not worth your or neones time if it doesn't better you or your skill sets and your fellow neighbor and community skill sets are all assets i often think we don't realize we have.....neways got off on a tangent but just wanted to say thHANK YOU FOR THE PRICLESS CONTENT YOU SHARE W THE WORLD , Information, KNOWLEDGE IS EVERYTHING, AND our ability to communicate that knowledge is unprecedented as we speak, and hopefully we can make the world a better place ,......., 1.. plastic bottle wrapper NOT thrown out the window at a time..SORRY I GOT INTO NASTALGIA MODE AND REMINISCING WATCCHING THESE MOMENTS BEING EMULATED BY ANOTHER PERSON WHOS BEING EMULATED, TOTALLY INSPIRING AND HOPEFUL, James Stewart was almost that ultimate goal of perfection as he was the ultimate level of mastery which almost diefies such things knowing how sacred these memories are for the people who got to be lucky enough to be born in this time to witness it!!!!!....we are truly living in remarkable times and just hope we continue to learn, grow, and keep life healthy, happy, fun, enjoyable, and infect others with love and compassion and I say just keep smiling,
