That he doesn't name them here, doesn't mean he isn't sharing the names. You've got 28 days where you can read all of his research on these (and more) for free. So when you are interested in his top 5 picks you receive more than the companies names and a quick overview. Now you can see all the write ups over time. Giving you/ us a lot more value if you ask me.
Agree, its getting annoying. More videos like this and I will unsubscribe, rather follow youtubers who value their viewers. Sven seem to think more and more of youtube as a pure funnel to his research platform and the value we get for watching his videos (ad revenue) seem like an after thought.

Sven, I like your content but oftentimes you’re not precise. The caption clearly states “my top 5 stocks”. Instead we’re getting something else. I feel your thoughts are not channeled and I end the video with questions oftentimes. Just my 2 cents.

A 15 minutes long sales presentation. I doubt that even the late great Charlie Munger would approve, of such a sales presentation.
Small investors and large investors could do a lot worse than putting their monies with Berkshire Hathaway.
Subscription, $499 per year. Subscription for 10 years, $4,990. But only $1.37 per day equivalent.
I would think that investors need to keep adding a significant % of their monthly income on a monthly basis to grow that money using compounding effects.

I see Airbnb, Palantir, Roblox and Paypal in this persons portfolio and can't just stop my first assumption on where could this person have gathered his information.
But for your actual topic on your pick of Acomo as top pick. Intresting pick, but very specific. First of all its a smallcap, which alarms me because there is minimal growth and the only upside is the 6% dividend. Also aren't spices getting extremly expensive, if we look at cocoa for instance, crazy numbers! Lastly aren't we getting more troubles with shipping (not just Mearsk incident or Evergreen) the ships are getting heavier and they barely can handle the demand.
I only can shake my head and rewatch sven vid on cyclical play ; *). You make great educational vids.

Is Sven still in Tenaris?
The return on invested capital for Acomo is not that high it appears and it does not grow. That business is 100 years old but still only 500 million market cap ? 100 years and no compounding, what did they do with the money ? I bought WSM one year ago for a PE below 10 for example, but WSM has very high returns on capital which I think usually drives stocks up over time (because somewhere the money from the high returns must go, at least if it arrives in cash) and gives some safety too I think ( that worked usually for me, based on my limited investment experience). That WSM buy worked quite ok. I think WSM will go down a bit again, and the market is way too optimistic at present, but over the longterm the high returns should bring a positive outcome. Acomo is cheap but cheap like a car with a weak engine, when you compare the returns on capital with the engine of a car, not like a sports car cheap I think.

Yet they have been around for 100 years. So they must have a competitive advantage in this niche market. And overall they have been profitable over a long time. It's not a hype market but boring compounding when bought the price is right.
@@PonderDuke There is not really compounding in the company if they cannot grow, because they cannot reinvest. Then you have a company which is more like a bond, not like a stock. What makes stocks unique compared to all other assets, is that there is a management which reinvests capital ideally at high returns or they can grow even without needing much capital. That is what brings in real value creation over time in stocks (and which sticks, different than valuations), not a temporarily change of PE values. The potential, while nice to have, for a positive PE change is limited. I personally prefer a company which keeps a lower PE while growing and the company buys back shares over time at good valuations though. But even that works better when the company has high returns on capital.
Acomo's ROIC this year is 57% if you had bought right and holdet to it.
@@vig6912 The ROIC does not depend from the price you buy the company at. How do you get 57% ROIC ? Companies with a ROIC of 57% are very rare if there are any at all. Acomo does not have a 57% ROIC. More like a ROIC below 10%
Hey sven I was playing with the compound calculator today and I stubbled upon something crazy
If you compound your money at 20% return with 50k starting amount, after 40yrs the results are 242M
A 25% return produced 1B , this 5% difference is INSANE difference in money creation

@all, looking at a lot of comments posted here, it seems people are skeptical and not getting it, this is not giving u a fish/stock to buy but teaching u how to fish and also for the long run; if u understand from that perspective the subscription is negligible as u add and grow your portfolio; not many channels on utube which combine value investing with the qualitative aspect as this channel/Sven does, so definitely a gem in that sense

Well, I have just a slight remark on ACOMO NV given their dividend is 80% of their earning per share.. is it sustainable, maybe but hardly though
if earnings go lower, the dividend follows, but for now it is ok.

I have learned much from Sven and will continue to be his sub to support his channel but he is first and foremost a seller of his product which is nothing wrong per se. What is wrong in my opinion that he is swaying people away from index funds which are by far the cheapest and most sensible investment for 99% of us. Plain SP500 or Msci World tracker, not to mention factor tilts, accumulating versions(tax treatment) will certainly beat the vast majority of experts, probably Sven too considering risk/return profile, taxes, fees, liquidity etc.
That said, there is much value in Sven's work if you take all that into account, and by all means, I could be wrong about the prediction.
thanks, but on index funds, I do what I do and for the people that are not interested in index funds because they understand the risk and reward of things. THose that invest in index funds, should not even watch financial vids :-))

I require an 8% real return on my investments. With 3% inflation the first 4% of my nominal return is eaten up by inflation after taxes. So I need a total of 12% nominal investment return to achieve this 8% real return goal. I need Amsterdam commodities to fall by 20% before it is close to being a buy for me.

People need to get a grip. Sven has obviously underperformed the S&P over the past 3 years that’s natural also Seth Klarman has underperformed all very focused value investors have underperformed because it is now a market full of speculation and gambling. When the bad times come that is when Sven and others will out perform that’s natural of value investors in general. Let’s all look at this in 5 years but I guess most of you commenters won’t be interested in 5 years as I’m sure you’re the people who want buys every week meaning investors who don’t understand anything about investing. If you base your opinion on the S&P 500 price and not on fundamentals then obviously you don’t know what your doing.
It’s like screaming in the wind. No one hears us and we appear foolish that is until, as you rightfully point out, there is a correction. Let’s evaluate performance over decades rather than quarters.
At the same time, no need to pay for external research. If people don't do their own research, everything else they might get from whoever it is they are getting it from, might as well be a black box they don't understand anyway. In that case, max your retirement accounts, take advantage of employer matching programs and you'll do just fine. Then, play with a bit of money and I know eventually you'll get a good idea of how it works. I am no Buffet or Lynch and I have done pretty well with my own decisions without paying anything to anyone or following what others are doing. If people can't think for themselves, they should stick to the indexes and maxing out their retirement accounts.

I swear, everyone is so harsh for no reason. You would all do the same if you were in his position. He gives plenty of value in hundred of videos and when he makes one specifically promoting his platform everyone looses their minds. You said ACOMO was a buy at 22€. Now it's trading at 17.5€.. and you say there's not a big margin of safety??! So, it wasn't a buy at all before. Profitability crashed over last 2 years.
I am just saying I have much better, and I also had much better back then, ACOMO is still the same company paying a good dividend - I always say: see how it fits you !!!
Wouldn't it be better to actually learn around the fundamental principles of investing and do it yourself by investing time to learn and develop experience and expertise.
Spending 20 minutes a week reading a few emails. Some kind of "short cut".
If you started investing in your 20's and continued it life long then you could spend on subscriptions :-
$499 a year x 50 years = $24,950
Maybe still worth it though as over those 50 years you should be able to make at least $1 million and maybe substantially more than.
I wish I had a guide when I started investing! But I guess it depends on the person. In the developed world, a person can make hundreds of thousands per year more by focusing on what they do rather than learning about investing!

Don’t mind, Sven! The comments are not fair. Everybody wants that you name stocks, but they don’t consider that there is serious work behind and that you are living from that work. The price they need to pay is low and even everyone can get it for free first few weeks but they still don’t want to invest the effort. Don’t give it for free, Sven. You save us a lot of money buy teaching us what not to buy for free. That should be more than enough.

Absolutely love the fact that I can learn so much from scratch by following Sven's research. By reading all those write-ups covering things I have never heard of/ would be thinking about. I was a 'I have just 10k is it worth it-guy'. But the videos of Sven have been impacting that mindset a lot on the positive side. Now I try to learn as much as I need to make my own decisions, based of his research and suited for my/ our own situation. As I accept that I won't be a fulltime business researcher, I truly hope this opportunity will keep existing for the said 20 years and hopefully much longer.
No risk? Maybe one, that would be hyperinflation of the Euro compared to the US-dollar in that period. Because of the platform price denominated in USD. But I totally get why Sven is doing that as a resident of
the Euro-zone. And hopefully by then, this also won't be a worry anymore. Just as the price compared to the 10k portfolio was.

It gets so infuriating how much misinformation is out there about investing. Thank you for shedding some light on how ridiculous TH-cam finance really has become. I followed these advises and ended up with bunch of stocks in my $205,000 portfolio.
Well, you don't have to act on every forecast so consider speaking with a financial planner who understands and can design strategies that suits your goals. My two cents.
@@DanielPanuzi This is why I don't listen to TH-camrs, They generalise it for the views. whereas we all have peculiar goals and must work towards it. I learnt this during covid and reached out to an advisor since then my financial life changed.

@@hullbruce They are hundreds of consultants out there, I've worked with a few but I chose Alicia Estela Cabouli as my advisor. She has a wide web presence so it shouldn't be a hassle finding her.

One more video like this and i'm done with this channel, although I've learned a lot as someone who does not want to pay $500 for the research platform the value I get from watching your videos and paying for double ad revenue with my premium account I get close to nothing in return. If us youtube watchers are worth zero for you now, then say so and we will happily follow someone else who actually try to provide value and not just sell sell sell.... we have a choice remember?
He is offering free value with every video and you still complain. What do you have to offer? He's doing a lot of research so it's normal to ask a fee for offering a service. You don't have to buy it. Would you like to work for free?
I don't make any money with YT, it is donated, so there is nothing for me except for here and there marketing what I do. That is it! If it works for you ok, if not, I guess also ok :-)
You need to invest a LOT of money for the $500 to be worthwhile. Otherwise the fees are excessive. BUT the alternative is doing it yourself.

A simple solution would be to donate the same percentage (perhaps 50%) from TH-cam and from your platform... That would get rid of these subconscious incentives.
The quality on TH-cam has objectively gone down, it's a pity for us, but I'm not sure it makes much sense from your point of view either: you have completely sacrificed your economy of scale.
Another option could be to upload the research to the TH-cam channel with 1 month delay.
Your channel was my favourite by a long shot, now it's not even in my top 20.

underperform index funds over what period of time??? if you cherry pick then yeah right now no one is gonna beat crypto, nvidia and apple stock over the past few years. But to talk about "index fund performance" as if any of it is rational and positive is crazy. keep in mind the market is EXTREMELY irrational right now and most value investors are accumulating and waiting for a swing in the opposite direction. When your index funds dip 20% he'll probably still be making decent returns. so yeah time period matters, although you kinda have a point, fund managers still have jobs for a reason...
@@Jerryfromtheblocm The 7% pa. return he cites for his “model portfolio” since 2018 is a massive underperformance relative to the S&P500 (which has gained 12% pa. over the same period). And in that period there has been two bear markets. So it’s not like there haven’t been opportunities for his favorite market timing approach to investing. It’s just that he sucks at it.
Berkshire Hathaway has significantly outperformed the market over the same period, also with a value investing approach.
