@@ODogMcGee I don't get why people dislike season 11 so much? As for resolution, the first time in years that we've seen a dalek as a malevolent, scheming, evil creature which is how they are best written. Sure the stuff with Ryan's dad REALLY got in the way, but I loved the Dalek's character in that episode so much. Moffat can't write daleks (Asylum being a case in point) as he just goes straight for fan service. "ooh, let's have all the daleks in intensive care from planets they were defeated by the doctor on" without having appropriate daleks in there. "Let's write a two-part episode on one line of dialogue from genesis" which, yeah, resulted in a fantastic Davros performance but overshadowed by a snake guy & more self-referential BS from Karn to the Shadow proclamation. Moffat was only good for the Empty Child & Blink, making him showrunner resulted in endless fan service where nothing original came out. We then get a season with some originality & what do you know, everybody jumps on the hate train & deem season 11 as a failure when season 10 can only be described by myself as incredibly meh. By all means, people are entitled to like what they like, but I really can't understand what is so wrong about season 11
@@GreyTheFloydianSergal Season 11 had too much of a pushy political agenda unlike episodes like Aliens of London and Genesis of the Dalek which were political they were very underlining themes. With Series 11 we had every episode where the white male is the 'main' bad guy is a white guy... Watch Harry's Moving Castles review on Resolution because it has so many plotholes and is one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who from the worst series (that's not my opinion, that's a fact) season 11 as a whole was so boring! Just look at Demons of the Punjab, the most boring episode ever and there is a clear problem with the timeline and the Doctor does nothing! It's Chris Chibnalls fault for making the Doctor a preachy idiot

Much better than the videos list, at least you have given Evil of the Daleks the spotlight it deserves
you must have only seen the telesnaps for masterplan to think bad wolf is capable of even sitting pitifully in its shadow, but thats not a bad list. I would actually swap masterplan out of 10 to three but not really sure where to put bad wolf, cause none of these are bad stories!
So irritating when they mispronounce a name and it is then immediately said correctly by the characters. Davros... As in dav, ross. Not hard
Sure is nice to see people snapping at Brits for pronouncing British names wrong. I expect it's just to make those of us in the various colonies feel better, but it's nice of them to think of us just the same. ;)

I know right?! Especially when Davros's name is mentioned in the clips being pronounced correctly. That and miss pronouncing Troughton too. Really frustrating.

It's even more irritating when the person saying it is British. Brits don't say "owce" when a word ends in "os", which seems to be an American affectation. I've seen more and more Brits on TH-cam saying "ethowce" (ethos) and "kudowce" (kudos) recently, and it's bloody annoying - "os" is "os".
It's almost as if the narrator is deliberately pronouncing names wrong.

Just wanna say, "Dalek" is one of the best episodes of Doctor Who in general, Daleks In Manhatten/Evolution of the Daleks is underrated and Asylum Of The Daleks is overrated.
Bah.... The Magicians Apprentice is very underrated : the most epic dalek-Story!
I agree with you on Dalek, my GOD that was just a goddamn brilliant piece of TV. Christopher Eccleston acted the shit out of it, really revealing the Doctor's raw post-Time War pain and suffering and just letting it loose on the last Dalek. And I liked Rose's story in the episode too. The only downside is the American accents!

So glad remembrance was included, as one of my favourite doctor who stories to date. In other dalek related nostalgia, does anyone remember that one random dalek from classic who that showed up every now and again and spoke in a deeper voice that was clearly different or is it just me?

Jesse Pollack In terms of making the Dalek imposing and a force to be reckoned with, just with there being one of them, this is certainly the most effective I’ve seen them used. Come to think of it, while they’re good in seasons 2-4, I didn’t feel the intimidation factor as much as I did with both episodes of season 1 (Dalek, The parting of the ways). Truth is, I doubt anyone will be able to re capture that magic of the daleks actually being threatening, but if they do it’s going to have to be a damn good job.

I’m surprised Army of Ghosts/Doomsday didn’t even get an honourable mention - especially seen as it brought together two of the best (Daleks and Cybermen). That episode is one of the most famous from the 10th Doctor. (:

But even then, Dalek Sec and the cult of skaro are probably the most iconic and intimidating daleks ever. I would say the singular dalek ever to compete with dalek sec is the emperor, and I would still rewatch the cults story first.

Planet of the Daleks is my favourite followed by Remembrance of the Daleks. Little disappointed Planet wasn't even mentioned as I think it's one of the Third Doctor's best stories.
The Dalek Master Plan is a genuinely god tier story, it's a shame that most of it is missing
The first 4 episodes are great and the soundtrack of the last 2 are brilliant but the rest is patchy at best..

Planet of the Daleks should be on here.
I may be looking back through rose colored glasses but Genesis is my favorite. It was the first Dalek serial I saw shortly after I discovered my local PBS station broadcasting Who in the mid '70's. (The Ark in Space, two stories prior, was my introduction to Doctor Who.) My least favorite story was the two parter: Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks particularly for introducing the Dalek/Human hybrid that I refer to as the One-Eyed Monster. Ugh! Favorite Dalek moment was in Journey's End when Martha Jones is in Germany and the Daleks are shouting 'Exterminate' in German! Beautiful detail.
I can agree on Genesis Of The Daleks being in the top spot, but I would have had Stolen Earth/Journey's End at the second spot :)

I can see why, stolen earth/journey's end is a fun little sci-fi romp but the Daleks really don't do anything as they are over-shadowed by Davros. I love Davros as a character, deliciously evil & when he's quiet, incredibly chilling, but every scene where there's Daleks & Davros in shot, it's almost "Hush now, daddy's talking" & any attempt at developing the daleks further just evaporates. Heck, in Planet of the Daleks (two years before Genesis), the Daleks achieved invisibility! Granted they did nothing with it but still, they developed. As for Genesis, the Daleks got virtually no screen time or dialogue that I'd hardly call it a Dalek story
stolen earth is just a huge fan wank. Ruseel threw in to much into the story and decided to advertise torchwood and shit andforgot about the story. Parting of the Ways is better.

the reality bomb story is a masterclass in making the audience feel the stakes. this is the only who episode where I've thought "shit, this is the end of everything"
Luckily for Rose and the Doctor, the Dalek in "Dalek" is considerate enough to use the shield generators in its hemispheres to contain the blast from its self destruction.

The Daleks have been able to elevate since the First Doctor. In "The Chase," when the Daleks are on the wooden sailing ship, one's on the upper deck, accessed via stairs.
Remembrance Of The Daleks is my favourite Dalek story, and one of my favourite Dr Who stories in general

I know, I also thought that resolution was a better dalek story than the magician's apprentice and the witch's familiar as in resolution, the dalek actually exterminates a lot of people but in the series 9 opener they do absolutely nothing

Asylum of the Daleks was my first ever episode of DW so I have always loved that one
U need to see planet of the daleks or death to the daleks or day of the daleks there 100 times better than asylum which makes zero sense to anyone who has watched classic doctor who

I'm pretty sure WatchMojo doesn't give a rat's arse about classic Who unfortunately. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is their first DW list to include classic Who (although I could be wrong)
The fact that Journey's End is even on the list is an insult.
It's difficult because Journeys end is mixed while Stolen Earth is genuinely phenomenal.
I like The Stolen Earth/Journey's End because it was probably Davros' best and most easily understood plans.

They've had emperors, supremes, and the parliament. Honestly, I don't even think they themselves have any idea what their government is.
@@DreadnoughtHvor I think that there's a point in the Daleks' history where they broke off into different sects (with which that little civil war they were having in their last classic who appearance didn't help) which is why they have all-over-the-place political systems. They're kind of like alien Nazi Cavemen. Splitting into different Tribes because one disagrees with the other.

Alun Jones Genesis is just a classic and has never been surpassed. Surprising since it was a rushed filler story. Amazing. The doctor’s speech about wether he has the right to wipe the out is still iconic in Who history. 🖖

Daleks was during a time during the Original series when the episodes were Individually titles. So it would have been known as: "The Dead Planet." The final individually titled serial would be 1966's The Gunfighters (aka A Holliday for the Doctor a 4 parter ending with "Don't Shoot the Patient"). Which was about the Shootout at the OK Corral.
I agree with some of them, but I think it may have been best to do a separate video on all the best classic ones and all best modern ones. also what about "Into the Dalek" and "Resolutions"?!

I know that Daleks’ in Manhattan & Evolution of the Daleks are given a lot of slack but on my most recent viewings of the story, I find it very enjoyable. Definitely flawed but enjoyable

I just love the daleks. What would doctor who be without those guys? Besides those on the list and honorable mentions, planet of the daleks, victory of the daleks, inside a dalek and resolution were also good to me. Someday there should be a top 10 cybermen stories
The top three are spot on. They are the only dalek stories where they are consistently a threat. Other stories, classic and modern, always have atleast a few dumb scenes where they have easily exploitable weaknesses or can't hit anything.

We had seen Sarah Jane... previous doctors assistant as was Jack Harkness. The only two were from one spin off series and there was a doctor who torchwood episode.
sorry I didnt understand that. Sarah Jane had three and half years in classic who, with 2 seperate doctors, , turned up in 10th run twice. And had 5 years of her own show where she had both 10th and 11th and the brig. Captain jack travelled with 9th and 10th and had his own show. The point?

I would've replaced asylum with Witches Familiar. A potential cordial relationship between Doctor and Dalek, addressing the deeper mythology of the species and the moral conundrum of combating the daleks.
I would've replaced asylum with rememberance and number 5 with frontier in space/planet of the daleks which is hard for me as it's my favourite and deserves higher in my opinion

There is a question is there any characters that David Tennant has played don't mess things up or does he ever clean up what he messes up his characters I mean
There is one you forgot. I can't remember what it's called exactly but it's during the 11th Doctor's tenure. I believe it's during World War II and he's with Winston Churchill and this is where the Daleks or it away reborn and do they have all new colors and a thinner taller shape to them. I thought that reveal was kind of Awesome. I liked how they had this other Dalek kind of in Disguise as a good guy and he was kind of like a servant but the 11th doctor wasn't buying it. All in all I thought the reveal of the newer Daleks was kind of cool

Invasion of Earth is ranked much too low. This is, along with Genesis, the best Delek story ever which has very much resemblance to The War of the Worlds. Timeless Masterpiece.

Why the FUCK are "Daleks in Manhattan" and "Evolution of the Daleks" not on this list? Those were easily some of the best Dalek episodes in Doctor Who.
