Once at a Behemoth concert, i was outside with some buddies in the queue...And low and behold, a silver mercedes "VITO" van drove and paused next to us...Right through the glass i see Nergal with all his makeup on hahaha, he gave us the "metal horns" and the van drove on after a brief stop...very cool moment..

Rob, If you would like to hear more crazy stories from the communist times in Poland you should call Peter from Vader. Vader started in the begining of the 80ties so you here more of that than from Nergal. Vader for the first band from Poland with international success but it was even harder for them to achieve that. Off course I love both Vader and Bahemoth. Both great bands.

Vader is such an exiting band after all these years. Every show is a live giving effort from Peter and the band. It makes me sick that so many idiots think communism is cool. It has killed and destroyed more lives than can be counted in the last 125 years.

Nergal is the thinking persons metal artist. A brilliant business man whose sucked the marrow bone of the industry, savoured it and spat out any hint of pretentiousness, much like how he approaches life, with positivity , a sense of humour and mischief and a billion opinions ideas abs genius all falling out of him in a heady stream of art and music and political viewpoints . Love it. He makes no apologies for anything , because he doesn't owe anyone anything , he lives his life and it's a pretty fucking awesome one .

  • @a.azazagoth5413

Nergal is such a complete artist. His life is art and it takes total balls and total commitment to live inside the muse. He’s a rare character and this interview was amazing! The European Union is a total joke. Let’s have no cultures and all melt into a big Walmart. I love Poland because it’s Poland. I love England because it’s England. I love Zimbabwe because they are Zimbabwean.

Well, you're generalizing very badly. Equating culture with states/countries and/or religion in the 21st je century is completely mistaken. It is widely known that nationality is a constructed identity serving the government and perpetuating hierarchical socio-economic systems. If anything, music should transcend all boundaries and selfrighteous identity politics! Just think about all the music that has no state or is even denigraded by nation-states exclusivism...

I'm not an interview watching guy and I was sure I'm not gonna watch more than 5 minutes, even if it's Nergal, but that was really interesting to watch. It's nice to know more personal backround from musicians, than they usually give in ordinary interviews. Usually it's how your next album will sound like and when your next tour will start? Now it was more to actually know the person itself, so really really interesting. And coming from a country, in the past being occupied by soviets aswell, there was many similarities in his youth to mine. And also must say the guy is intelligent and open minded. I will not get bored listening to intelligent people. And I like his courage to tell what he feels about everything, whether it's politics, music, religion, whatever. Most celebrities don't have that, they would be afraid of the shitstorm from some of the followers and afraid to maybe lose some of the album sales and income. But that's the Man, with capital letter M, having principles above everything else, like Nergal. And world is f****ed up place atm for sure with all that populists right wing parties gaining popularity in US, Poland, Hungary, Italy. Even here in Estonia, populists have participation in the government, something I thought would never happen, as I thought our nation is too intelligent for that, guess I was wrong. Not gonna even go asfar as Russian terrorist dictator and Trump being Putins puppet. So yeah the world is moving in the wrong direction but listening intelligent people like Nergal gives me little hope, that maybe there's more people like him out there.

Hah fun fact about the "Conquer All" riff, it's essentially the same riff as "Be All, End All" by Anthrax. Nergal and Scott Ian had a talk about it years ago, and Nergal quickly agreed that they sound the same, it's all good though. But the point is, regarding the fact that it sounds like a thrash riff, is because it IS a thrash riff.

Robb, I've recently gotten into your podcast (started with the Barney interview, and have been cherry picking since). Today, I binged a few episodes, ending with this.
In times like these, with the impending election, to say nothing of COVID and everything else... it was truly heartwarming to hear such ease and positivity between you and Nergal in this interview.
I have considered myself a fan of you and Machine Head since the first time I heard OF you (Borivoj's Brash Bits was what put you on my radar before BME was even recorded), and I have some intense memories associated with your music, as well as Nergal's. Even having said that, on paper, there's no reason for me to have expected this conversation to touch me in the way it did.
Thank you for all you do, and I wish you nothing but light, love, and luck as life continues for us all.
Cheers, and I owe you a beer the next time you are in DFW.

Robb, 28 mins mark, ask your question the other way around. The churches have the right idea. Why are you having to pay 35% in taxes?? That's the crime. Otherwise, there'd just be billions more being paid in taxes that would be wasted, just as your 35% is. Great interview. Really appreciate the time spent on this one.

    • @ChuckNastyMoreBlood
      @ChuckNastyMoreBlood 2 ปีที่แล้ว

They don't want to be forced to pay into a system that provides money to causes they are against and "anti", but they want churches to do that same exact thing. They think church should be separate from state, but they think churches should pay taxes. You can tell they have really thought this through...

May I make an observation? I know it's a man's world and I've been listening to extreme metal since I was 11 and right now I'm a 29yr old woman. It's alright to make silly or spicy questions given the tone of the show which I really enjoy, but "getting pu5sy"? It sounds quite strong. I don't know if it's an American thing, like a common slang expression, but it would´ve been better to ask: "What are the chances of having s3x?" or something like that. I suppose you realized since immediately afterwards you changed your words, but I thought it's an important observation to make, even when you're being informal or swearing a lot during a show, which is totally fine. More importantly, since there are so many valuable women in the metal scene, even the extreme one. I hope this comment isn't taken wrongly. Overall the interview is great! I really enjoyed it. Keep up with the great work!

The Catholic Church helped Poland to survive???? Like every fuckin' parasite, the Catholic Church has to make sure that its host lives, because that way the parasite will also live well. The CC never fought of his own accord against any of Poland's enemies. They only fought those who first turned against them, as the communists did. The CC has always been a bastion of hypocrisy and opportunism calculated to survive at all costs, regardless of the nationality of the people around it. And this is how it will always be.

Please guys, dont take BASIC knowlegde about ANY country from Social Media, Celebrities, Musician, Actors etc. Take 20-30 years long time span and check major statistics, taxation, income, debt, social struture, religion, history and so on. Take DATA and analyze it and THEN add You emotional factor to make any statements or decisions. People are fighting because tribalism, not religion.
Nergal - I've seen You live, great musicians and maybe not my genre but I respect quality of their music. As for sharing political views - keep it for Yourself Nergal, remember that "libelars" will sell You anything You want to hear...
