Aussie Dave here Sam, i also have in the past accidentally ring barked some of my trees but instead of cutting off the branch I either air layed or Jin the branch 😊
Hey Sam! From my extremely limited knowledge, I’d say you did a wonderful job. The fact that your tree survived your brutal summer heat without.yellowing is remarkable. I know Peter Chan trims or deca does in the spring time and he is not overly concerned about wire marks. I remembered one of your demos of this tree and I was in awe of your sure and confident hand! I think what you are doing is fantastic and I wouldn’t worry about it at all! Cheers.
Best way to learn is by doing! Everyone has days like that Sam. You have been crazy busy, lots on your plate. Don't be so hard on yourself. Sound seem great to me, only a couple spots with a bit of interference. But otherwise good. Work is starting up fast for me this year! Going to be a gravel pit year and I am crazy excited! Running the crusher and the screener, get me back in shape. I know round is a shape. But it's not the shape I prefer to be...😂
With you knowledge and experience, tackling a tree for the first time is how we learn. I know this tree will turn out fine. After all. You are a great Bonsai Master.
Mate would love to but the guy with the music claims 100 percent of the revenue 😭 Hence the reason that you don't here much of his stuff any more. Everyone used to use it until he made claims against Everyone 😔😔😔
It sounds like you need to buy more pines to practice on. That's what happened to me, now I have a bunch of em. 😆😆There's an Aussie book on Japanese pines - Pine bonsai in the temperature climate.
Dear Sam , so sorry it happened! I was just gonna say how refreshing your honesty is ( whilst still watching the vid) when I heard what you said !!! I think the tree looks lovely but what do I know? I don’t have any pines at all! Looking forward to more of your news God bless you🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️
At first I thought the wire wasn’t that bad grown in, but when you showed that stripped branch it was evident. I never used copper wire, guess aluminum is often thicker so it doesn’t cut in so much. Nice pine though! Hope it recovers and buds back!
Hi Sam, that’s a beautiful tree. I have a red pine that’s grafted onto I’m not sure what, either black or Scots pine. It’s a fussy tree and I have had issues with it, growing so slowly which could be because of its root stock or my methods. However this spring(I’m in the uk) it has given me a load of new buds in all the right places and is even trying to grow cones. I hope one day mine looks as good as yours mate. You’ve done well with that tree mate, I’ve seen other videos you’ve done with it and it’s clear to me it’s grown well for you. All the best mate and good luck with the red pine 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🍻🍻🍻
Cheers mate. Yeh this one was a seed grown tree. Had it from a 1 year old wip. Yeah you could be right the graft could be slowing it. I have had this 10 years roughly 😀
Dear Sam, thanku for all your diligent replies, to ALL of us, it means a lot that you consider , listen to , respect and appreciate our comments. May I humbly promote Playlists? I’m sure they’re a heck of a lot of work, especially given your back catalogue but I’ve seen channels really grow internationally after setting up a Playlist. Also, but not primarily, it makes it so much easier for us, instead of trawling back through all your vids, not that I mind at all ✌️As always, God bless you 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️

Now that is a tree and a half. I wonder if you could root that big candle off of the tree? Might be worth a try.
I like a little bit of wire bite, sometimes completely wrap a trunk in wire to give it some texture.
Agree and at least the branches set 😀

put a teatowel over to hide that first lowest branch for a view of possible removal or jin
Hi
G day mate 😀😀
Hiya Seth!! 🤝
'super slack' usually means you have too many trees or you have trees you don't really care that much about - obligation is the enemy of any hobby
Your pot held up very well. The tree looks nice in it.👍🏼
Yeh I'm surprised that the glue still looks OK 👍 👌

American prices have gone 🤪 crazy
I'm sure I'll see Scott Martin again. He has done a lot of training and is Australia's top pine expert 👏
