Thank you so much. These concepts are hard for me to understand and I'm in an online DBT group. Your videos really explain it in a way that I can grasp it much better though. I'm so glad to have found you. Thank you 🙏❤️❤️
I'd loved it, thank you! I would be very interested if you ever decide to make a video focusing specifically in self-validation and how to break through the inner invalidator and other impediments to reach self-validation. As you know, these impediments are for some people incredibly pervasive, but when looking for materials about it I've noticed that there are more materials about patient-therapist validation or validation of others, than on the validation of oneself. As the dialogue with oneself has a radically different structure than the listening of others, it could be very useful to coin terms and techniques specifically for it!
That is a good idea… I’ll have to think more about how best to present that. Meanwhile, something I have along those lines is a video called “The Ultimate Self-Care package” which includes self-validation and other related skills. DBT Extras - The ULTIMATE Self-Care Package I also have a video about dealing with your invalidating “inner critic”: Coping With Your "Inner Critic"
Brilliant explanations of validation and invalidation Dr. May. Thank you!
