This conductor really understands this music, as so few others do! Thank you for not playing the first mvt too fast...it loses its character if rushed.(I just listened to ten other recordings on Yt and they were all too fast.) So much good stylistic playing going on here from most of the soloists, particularly the wonderful Eb clarinet! Love the rocking motion of the slow section in mvt 2.....perfectly done! This whole work is so good, I want to hear the entire cd! I've played the Gorb and the Corigliano, and have heard the Hesketh Danceries, but am not familiar with the Nine Greek Dances. If they're all as good as this, it will be worth buying the recording. :-)
