Doug is a very genuine good guy. I love how he's constantly laughing and enjoying the conversation. One of the reasons his channel is so damn popular, he's such a likable guy.
Met him at Cars and Coffee today. The RS2 drew more attention than the GT3RS parked in front of it lmao. He really is a great guy; that awkward but nice personality you don't see much on camera (but know is there) really comes out. He loves discussing and has a great sense of humbleness, despite the notoriety he's acquired.
Doug really is a humble dude. Met him and a Cars N Coffee here in San Diego. He took the time to talk to me and ask about the cars I was into and stuff. Told me a story about how he was driven to the hospital or something in a MK2 Jetta that was just like mine. Really cool dude and I honestly appreciated him to take the time and chat with me! Good interview as well, I'm not usually too keen on Graham's regular videos but I like Graham better here he seems more chill!
@@eric_b_ Man, I am too... Watching Doug's videos I'm always on the fence. I knew that he was either going to be like, an incredibly genuine, and super nice dude... Or he was going to be just a fake, slimy, weasel of a dickbag that thinks he's better than everyone else. No in between. Watching this, he SEEMS like a nice dude.. but hearing a personal story where he's just an incredibly down to Earth and genuine dude kinda makes things more real. I can continue watching him I suppose lol.
Can confirm. I ran into Doug on Nantucket of all places and he was very cool and down to earth. I talked to him briefly and he even let me pet his dog Noodle!
Dude, Doug demuro is so humble and doesn't brag at all. This dude earned everything he has and really strive for greatness. I really do respect the hell out of him.
One thing I love about Doug's videos is the visual consistency, it's become its own recognizable brand and image, and among the visual chaos of thumbnails on the TH-cam feed it stands out and is easy to spot.
Yeah, in a weird way the consistency actually adds value for the subscriber because all the familiarity just blends into the background-which elevates the main content of each video.
Two of my favoriate youtubers having a conversation - absolute gold! Graham is pretty darn good at the 'interview' model and Doug is a far sharper individual/businessman than he comes across in his videos. I love them both and look up to them both. Graham has the easy confidence and conversational tone I aspire to, and Doug has the auto channel that inspired mine. :) I predict this will become this channel's most-viewed and most-liked video. Wonderful, wonderful job. Oh, and I did give a 'Like" :)
Doug connects with car enthusiasts so well because he looks at cars and thinks about cars like we all do in a humble and quirky way. So many cars have prestige or status tied to them but he strips that away and makes it JUST about the car.
Love Doug, I’m also glad he was humble enough to admit and give credit to his parents instead of saying he did it all in his own. His parents really gave him what the tools and from then he used the tools to become who he is today
This!.. Is an interview with the one and the only Doug DeMuro. In this episode we will take a tour of his career and finances and discover the quirks and features of what makes him the best car youtuber. And when we are done, we will give him a Graham Score.
Funny Doug mentioned the Rav4. I am an enthusiast who watches all of his videos, and have bought some fun enthusiast cars, but when I was in the market for a reliable daily driver to add to my fleet, I really appreciated that Rav4 video and ended up buying it in a large part thanks to his video. Enthusiasts appreciate the in depth of those cars as well!
One of the best things someone successful can say is "I got lucky". A lot of people find it hard to admit that luck plays a huge role in success, and just Doug saying how he just got lucky getting that job at Porsche is a huge show of character and makes me respect him a ton!
I'm from France and I love U.S content especially when it talks about money because there is not shame about it. I France no one talks about this is like a no talk subject so it's great and you see that Doug has really good advices about it.
Great video love the insight! Doug’s the best! that’s all there is to it. He is now a “brand.” He turns car review into an art. He doesn’t need multiple cameras and to film the car in motion- his description is vivid enough
Haha smart? There was a Chevy that had little document holders (for your insurance registration etc) on the dash and sun visor and they had a paperclip symbol on them. He actually thought that the purpose was to store paperclips. He is dumb as a post.
I’ve NEVER had issue with seeing the view out of the front of the car on Doug’s reviews. I already know what the road looks like through a windshield and his formula absolutely works for me. Don’t change it. Not even wanting the drive by shots either. As is just works. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
What an awesome video / interview. At first I didn't think that I would be able to sit through an entire hour but your questions (and Doug's answers) were so dang interesting that I couldn't turn it off! Best thing I've seen on TH-cam in a very long time. Bravo!👏
Great interview. I enjoy Doug's reviews and he is a great example of someone who found exactly what he is meant to do for a living. He is effortlessly good at what he does and you can sense his love and passion for cars through his vids. Really personable guy.
That is a very interesting interview. Thank you. I am one of those people that do watch pretty much every video Doug produces because I just like cars a whole lot and this is the best way to get to learn a lot about each and every one of them in a very practical format. And Doug being who he is doesn't talk about himself much and that's quite all right but at the same time it is a rare opportunity to get to know a little more about the man behind all the information I get three times a week who really can't be uninteresting if he's able to keep me hooked from one video to the next and has been for years now. Again, thank you.
loved this, although seeing you two talk about the quirks and features of the GT would of been fun! maybe you should do a video like this / iced coffee podcast with Ed Bolian too
I love that the interview just started, there was no annoying intro or plugs for stupid stuff, no overpowering music. Like Doug said, simple is best, it's a TH-cam interview not a movie.
I definitely agree with Doug on what people generally want to see on TH-cam. Over the top quality can be forgiven depending on the type of channel you have.
I think a lot of the reason why Doug's videos being filmed on an iPhone is exactly why they do so well. I know a lot of other channels have great content but they almost feel like a chore to watch. Roads Untraveled, Throttle House, The Straight Pipes, all make great content but it can feel like too much is going on. Doug's videos are clean, easy to follow, to the point and very entertaining.
I ran into Doug at a gas station on Nantucket. Awesome guy to meet in person. He’s just as nice in person as he comes off in his videos. Even got to take a photo with the guy!
50:38 OMG! I remember reading about that minivan in Popular Mechanics (I think) when I was a kid over and over and still think about that design once in a while. I am surprised it never found a niche market
Doug is the kind of guy to make for a fun interview. Reviewing places is totally already a thing and Doug could definitely add to it! For example, Shelby Church reviews hotels while she travels, reviews areas of cities, etc. And also dabbles in car reviews.
Doug has the charisma, energy, enthusiasm and a great ability to talk which helps make his videos interesting to watch. I wish I had those qualities to put into my channel.
Its so strange to see an interview with Doug because I have been conditioned to expect the specs of a super car every time I see his face. 😅 Well done Graham. It was interesting to get some more nuance on what he is all about.
Thanks for showing us all Doug’s quirks and features.
Lol
Such an underrated comment.
THISSSS is Doug Demuro, first I will show you all of his quirks and features, and then I will give you his Dougscore.
You should film yourself driving him, really hard
LMAO BRUH
Doug is a very genuine good guy. I love how he's constantly laughing and enjoying the conversation. One of the reasons his channel is so damn popular, he's such a likable guy.
I watched this video, and my thought after watching it was, "Doug is successful because he is likeable"

I also just appreciate that Doug is himself, he doesn't pretend to be somebody that he isn't. I really respect that about him.
yep, he is that type of the guy
Doug is an OG. His videos show that you don’t NEED to have crazy production just good content, great example.
Also that you don’t need to upgrade video/camera gear. People enjoy decent, raw, pure, genuine content from a genuine person.
Quality over quantity
@@doompod While thats true, it depends on what type of content you are creating. It just worked out for Doug.
Please never change, Doug.
His videos are painfully predictable now. I prefer old Doug videos.
Doug’s a perfect example of pioneering a new business that nobody had considered really attempting and it worked out amazingly for him
"New business"...there is plenty of car reviewers, Doug added his cars and bids website and is doing well, I wouldn't say it's unique though.

The meta-trend of him looking smaller and smaller behind larger and larger pickups/SUVs is especially fun.
