This video has helped me so much with drawing neotraditional animals. Other methods of sketching/composition that are taught just don’t work for me but the way you sketch is easy to follow and a good baseline for the entire layout of the face. Will be using this method for other animals too! Thanks!!

old school usually has an unrealistic stylised vibe to it, normally with fairly bold outline to feel retro like an old sailor tattoo. neo traditional has more realistic elements and higher detailing. still with outline but usually different line widths and the subject matter is alot more open using newer ideas to look clean but still classic
Back in the old days, very few ink colours were available, as well as needle sizes and shapes. Traditional tattoos always have lines that are the same size, and very basic colours. Neo traditional utilizes the same style as traditional, but contains more colours and varied line sizes, creating a more realistic approach to the old style of tradtional tattoos. (hense what OP was saying)
