same, i figured there had to be some reason like contract deal time with apple or whatever bs corpo reason.... didn't think it would be so these scenes would match. strange choice but it was very entertaining to slowly discover the reason. also so much for staggered entrances by 15 min. bet they sped it up so they'd meet and Outie Helly could take advantage.
@@Fuar11, I just pulled up the episode and you're right. So for Mark, Dylen, and Irv there is 1 chime, and for Helly there is none. That's the nail in the coffin for me that it's Helena not Helly on the severed floor in episode 1
Mark, Dylan and Irving all have the same elevator tone chime when they arrive at the severed floor. Helly's is different!!! Nothing is by accident in this show.
There's a very dark sense of triumph in this scene for me. Lumon's powerful, but their power is tied to their employees' blind faith in them. MDR isn't blind anymore.
@@NB-gu9rs I don’t know why you don’t think people can do both? You mentioned in another thread that media literacy was dead directly blaming lost and the mcu, but there’s always been long standing debates in film and other media about someone’s identity and motives that predate the shows and movies you’ve listed. John Carpenter “The Thing”, Blade Runner, Solaris, The original planet of the apes, the usual suspects, fight club, etc. They all fundamentally ask questions about who’s who and there are still long standing debates about their endings to this day that people love to discuss and shouldn’t have their opinions dismissed because they didn’t provide commentary on the plot itself which kind of comes off very pretentious.
I'm getting the vibe that season 2 is a level up from season 1. Kinda like Breaking Bad. It got better every season. Severence has the potential to be as good as Breaking Bad if they keep delivering.
I would love an inverse of last season finale, this time the outies explore the severed floor. This could be hinted at by Helena already being on the floor as herself implying there is a clear way to do it for the others
Now use a timer to measure the elevator ride. Mark, Irving, Dylan: 20 seconds. Helena: 17 seconds. I don’t think they would make a mistake like that filming the scenes. Helena did not get severed on this ride to the floor.
My theory is that outie Helly is acting like she's innie Helly to get information from the other innies, to find out exactly what they did and who exactly they saw when they were on the outside. Lumon probably has the ability to deactivate the severance chip if they wanted to. The way she hugs mark is almost a confused hug, like "why is he hugging me?" And then when they play the new video about the events of the finale, Helly has a strange reaction to seeing the animation of her and Mark kissing.
Ben Stiller said in interview the fans haven't looked at it enough. Interestingly, the card under the blue driver's license is a card denoting "Vincent L. Tofany, Commissioner of Motor Vehicles". Vincent L. Tofany was the real Commissioner of Motor Vehicles for the state of New York from 1967 to 1973.
But I am not getting why they were reacting so much to waking up this time, specifically Mark? In the second episode, they show that Mark kept going to work as usual. So this scene happens much later. It wasn't immediately after the end of season 1.
i also think that it can be helena, however she sees that mark is right in front of her, which implies mark has been awake for a while now. maybe she asked for that purpose like “how long has it been that you are awake?”, but mark interpreted it wrong?
@@revaneahmedova wouldn't she correct him? And it makes sense he's already there as their entrances are staggered, he's always been in there before her
Nope. You can see that when Helena goes down the elevator, she is calm and collected, but when Helly comes out, she is distressed from being tackled at the Lumon ball
@@jonathanoliveira326 I do think shes pretending but saying she wouldnt be running is strange. She's tackled, of course she'd be trying to struggle. Helena is trying to mimic how she'd be acting in the moment. And if you're struggling and then suddenly not being held down, I could see you running forward.
@ If she was just "in the inside of a boring apartment" why would she pretend like she had just been tackled like what actually happened at the Lumon ball.
The kiss that outie Helena sees on the security tape is at the end of S1E8, right before they walk into the elevator to then get woken up by the OTC. It's not the same scene.
hahaha on the podcast they had said “someone will probably edit it together on youtube for us” thank you for being that someone

I immediately thought of that as well 😄
They actually took the time to make the duration of each scene here fairly accurate.
on the podcast Ben said he wasn't sure they got the timing right - someone in editing really cares about their art - nice job!
I was wondering why the scene on the right felt longer than it should be, but now it makes complete sense. Thank you for making this!

@HisameArtwork was the staggered entrances mentioned in season 1? If yes then that looks like an oversight from the creators
@@NovaaTheGreattbf this was their first day back to work, and I think they only mentioned staggering their exit

This show's attention to detail is unbelievable.
When the elevator closes there are chimes that play
For Mark there are 2 chimes
Dylen 1 chime
Irv 1 chime
Helly -- No chime
WTF!! I never noticed!
HOLY SHIT YOU'RE RIGHT
Her trip is also shorter. The other three elevator trips take exactly 8 seconds while Helly's trip is only 5-6 seconds long.
Isn't the 2nd chime for Mark from the clip on the left?
