- On 5/3/22, around 2 pm, I was working outside when I thought I heard a Train. I had the day off, so I dropped everything and got down to the Firehouse to see if there was any action, and try to catch this Semi-Rare move. After a few minutes of wait and no Train, I went over to Triumph Plastics across the Street from the Flanders Shoprite to see if they were switching Triumph. Sure enough, through the blooming trees and brush, was the black Operation Lifesaver paint. C&D 5303 and her sister 5304 finishing up, almost ready to head back North with a fair sized consist. So, I went back to the Firehouse with enough time to set up quickly Trackside. After I caught him there, I hustled down the road to Emmans Road crossing, once again with just enough time to quickly set up, and get a quick shot.
The last shot is a comparison of a picture I snapped while recording and a shot by Bob Rose from 1972, showing CNJ LE-2 (Lake Junction to Elizabethport) Heading back down the Branch after going to Lake Junction, and is now bound for the end of the High Bridge Branch, and eventually Elizabeth Port. The train was interestingly led by borrowed Reading GP30's, however, seeing foreign power was not super unusual, as the High Bridge Branch saw its fair share of pooled power in its last few years under The Central Railroad Of New Jersey.
Thanks For watching!
