Unchanging Consciousness - Intro to Advaita Vedanta - Part 3

  • Perceptions, thoughts, and emotions arise in your mind as vrittis and become known to you, the eternal conscious being. To observe these changing vrittis, consciousness must necessarily be unchanging, and is therefore utterly unaffected by the vrittis it reveals -- like the sun is unaffected by all it shines upon.
Swami Tadatmananda is a traditionally-trained teacher of Advaita Vedanta, meditation, and Sanskrit. For more information, please see: www.arshabodha...

Thank you swamiji - you explained very clearly that How the chanting is the easiest way to meditate ? For many days I was thinking mediation is not for us - to be quite in mind is impossible . But you thought us how to do meditation the easiest way.🙏

I am so grateful for your teaching. I have brain damage from poor choices and have a hard time keeping up with other teachers no matter how interested I am but with you I catch everything! Your teaching style is also very reverent you give everything time to marinate which is so important because there's nothing more important that knowing Thyself.

I just realized, I will only get to experience this body, only ONCE. And the light of consicousness will only allow for this particular experience only once. This suddenly brought on this strong emotion that I must love myself and cherish every moment.

Thank you so much for these videos, your teachings had helped me so much about life, nature & true happiness. Even though I have a luxury life & could have almost all kind of materials in the world & could travel almost anywhere in the world but I never feel completely happy. I always feel something is missing & sometimes I feel lonely and empty without any reasons. I keep searching for reasons cause I know life is more than luxury, materials and enjoyment and I'm so blessed that I found your videos. Your reaching is exactly what I need. Thank you billion times. Do you offer class for teenagers? (I have 2 teenage daughters & I know sometimes they're sad for no reasons too. They're some of the luckiest kids in the world but they still unhappy & not interesting in life. I think your teachings will help them but they're not going to watch these kinds of videos. I need to send them to your school or temple. Thank you so much again.

Thank you for these videos, they have helped answer many questions i have, and raise many others. I was raised a catholic, but the Vedic teachings speak more to me, and have helped more in my life in managing anxiety and difficult situations. Although i know where to go to ask questions regarding Christianity, i dont know where to start with Vedic teachings. These videos have raised questions like:
    - if the natural pure conscious state experiences emotion due to the vrittis, once they are gone, is the consciousness unfeeling & cold, i.e. its good it does not experience hate or sadness, but it has lost love which is a big loss?
    - if it only experiences emotions through the vrittis, how can it be "happiness", when this is also just another feeling?
    - does the conscious have memory or is it a light that illumines various minds but once those minds pass away, it retains nothing of them?
    - if it does not have emotion, then has the true conscious lost something after ascension?
    - is the love for children and family, which feels bottomless compatible with these teachings, or do they see it as just another temporary emotion that causes suffering?
As you can see, this has raised a lot of questions! is there a resource online i can start with to help answer some of this?

    • @gridcoregilry666
      @gridcoregilry666 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi, I am by no means deep into Vedanta, but since nobody answered, here's my take:
      1) - if the natural pure conscious state experiences emotion due to the vrittis, once they are gone, is the consciousness unfeeling & cold, i.e. its good it does not experience hate or sadness, but it has lost love which is a big loss?
--> you can always "give in" to the vrittis again, e.g. for feeling love or whatever emotion you want, but the important part is you want to decide when to "step out" eg. in a feeling of sadness
      2) - if it only experiences emotions through the vrittis, how can it be "happiness", when this is also just another feeling?
--> happiness is not a feeling in this sense, it is rather a "state" (while emotions come and go)
      3) - does the conscious have memory or is it a light that illumines various minds but once those minds pass away, it retains nothing of them?
--> I think it does not have memory and I think also Vedanta teaches that
      4) - if it does not have emotion, then has the true conscious lost something after ascension?
--> Refer back to answer 1 for this
      5) - is the love for children and family, which feels bottomless compatible with these teachings, or do they see it as just another temporary emotion that causes suffering?
--> both is true, depending on how much you give in to either the positive or negative emotions
