In my Near Death Experience many years ago, the Being of Light showed me the true nature of reality, and it was just as you've said. So called hard objects were floating particles you could put your hand through. Everything was made of Love. Trees were pastel colors made of Love. Everything was! Even today, I still remind myself that the tree in front of me is really pink, and that one is blue, and it's ALL Love. I don't want to forget it. When people transfer to the higher realm, they are in for a tremendous experience. Thanks for your video.

In Nididhyasana today, your words and Swami Dayananda's -
    "Brahma satyam, jagan mitya"
"Jagat is derived from the roots 'jan' - to be born, and 'gam' - to go.
Jagat is 'that which is born and which then goes.'"
"Brahma is translated as absolute reality, from the root 'brh' - 'to inrease, to grow large."
The noun means 'bigness'. Nothing quaifies or limits that bigness. It is unconditionally big.
It has no form or limitation whatsoever.
Parambrahma is not limited by space and time, and that is indeed adhyatma, or atma,

Meditation of whichever kind is very useful. After you have reached a certain level of mastery in the ability to focus on your meditation, you may want to consider the following to deeepen your practice.
Meditating on "Brahman is real" is more or less a mental exercise. The next level is to consider who is the one that is meditating. This is atma vichara as recommended by Sri Ramana Maharshi. He advocate the question who am I to serve as reminder to get hold of the feeling of one's own being or one own's awareness and try to hold onto it for as long as possible like we do in meditation. In other words, instead of meditating and holding onto a thought, a sound or an image, we are holding onto the sense of our own being. It's a very very powerful meditation.

I like this very simple and clear explanation of our sense of reality. I don’t agree that we stop dreaming when we are awake. It’s just that our conscious experiences of the outside world tend to hide our dreaming much like on a clear sunny day the sunlight hides the much weaker light from the stars in the sky. The stars are there. We just can’t see them for the bright sunlight. If you go into a deep well in daytime you can see the stars in the sky. Ancient people understood this. So we are dreaming all the time and when our attention is arrested when we are awake we begin to “daydream”. We think we are consciously controlling the content of the daydream but it’s really that we just became aware of what we were thinking subconsciously. All this came to the fore for me as about five years ago I started to suffer from non spasmodic narcolepsy. I could fall asleep for 30 seconds and dream during that time and still do though I take dugs to stay awake so I can function. This was the result of a stroke that left me permanently compromised on my left side. I think my brain began to function differently too as I can perceive things others can’t. Not that mystifying. I mean my brain interprets things differently and it can be annoying. On a bright day not exactly sunny but also a sunny day like today, Apr 20 2022, if I go outside the whole roadway and sidewalks appear to be sparkling with millions of tiny sequins. I think it’s the sand grains in the pavement. Your brain filters that out. Mine doesn’t. I have to wear sunglasses as it’s extremely annoying. At the same time I have acquired a bit of a calendar memory you might have heard some autistic people have like in the movie “ Rainman”. I see patterns in dates and can project them into the future. I detected the calendar on this iPad is inaccurate going back passed 1905. Check it out yourself unless Apple fixed it. I tried to tell them but it’s impossible to contact them. I discovered a numerical pattern on Feb 22 this year that will never repeat again in the lifetime of the universe. I tried to tell others but they treated me like I was crazy. They couldn’t see it. As they say I might be crazy but I’m not stupid. I stopped trying to tell people these sort of things. Nothing special happened last Feb 22. It was just an average Tuesday or Twos Day. It was 02/22/2022. Nothing special there. What’s for dinner? What do you think happened at 2 AM 02/22/2022? I woke up exactly at that time and looked at the clock when the thought occurred to me. So to sum up. We are dreaming 24/7 but just not aware of it when we are awake. But those dreams do affect our conscious thoughts and decisions. Here’s a rule of thumb about dreams: dreams often tell us what is missing in our lives whether we know it or not. If you are starving you may dream of eating a big banquet. As the Greeks say they are the opposite of reality. But more than that they tell you what’s missing in your life which is why you may dream of a dead relative or friend. You miss them and what they contributed to your life. That could be good or bad. Often it’s hard to understand what it is because our mind refuses to interpret the symbolism out of fear of discovery about ourselves things we don’t want to know. But it’s only in the conscious state you can do anything about it. However our subconscious never sleeps. It’s working 24/7 thinking about problems or our interpretation of the world around us or our social relationships. Sometimes the solution can come up in a dream as mathematical or puzzle solutions have come up in mine. Not the direct solution but symbolically that awake since understand was the answer I was looking for. The thing is such solutions can be far more comprehensive than you thought.

I find your story and stories like yours extremely fascinating. Can you tell me what pattern you discovered? "I discovered a numerical pattern on Feb 22 this year that will never repeat again in the lifetime of the universe." Is there anything else you realized after your stroke that is intriguing? Do you think your brain is simply malfunctioning and "creating" these thoughts, or do you think the brain is like a " window" to the greater reality and your stroke basically opened that window much wider? I'd love to hear more. I keep thinking of writing a book about these stories. There are scientists out there who study situations like yours, like V.S. Ramachndran who is a neuroscientist.

I agree that our subconscious is on 24/7. I also think our inner reality is the Authentic reality reavealed to us through our sensations. Rudolf Steiner wrote of such things in the early 1900s. This Swami seem to explain this reality better than anyone today. I've only listened to him a few times. I will return here with more of my thoughts and experiences, but now it's late. Thank you all for sharing.

These mini dreams you speak of sound like Lucid Dreams that are not so unusual in neurotypical people. It's a state between being awake and drifting into sleep; the dream is brief, only carrying one image before waking again.
Much has been written about Lucid Dreams, although very recently Lucid Dreaming has been reconfigured by someone on TH-cam seeking recognition and Followers (IMO.)

thanks for another easy to understand video! i meditated with you at the end of it and i saw interesting things: first i saw many human figures sitting as if they were meditating, but they were silhouettes filled with light and there were rays of light shining upon them. then, i saw surface of water rippling from a droplet that fell into it. next the visuals disappeared and i started receiving thoughts/"bits" of information, its hard to describe. something was telling me that this world is like floating matter that is constantly in motion due to a wave moving it, in a sinusoidal way. the "ups" were light and the "downs" were dark. this something also told me that the light and shadow were only two visual "interpretations" of the matter (or rather an external force that makes us "see" things in the matter that arent necessarily real) and that the matterexists no mater whether the light/shadow are present or not. interesting stuff

I've experienced the exact same examples, precisely. I view psychedelics to be a stepping stone, or door opener to the deeper level of reality. Becoming Conscious is a lengthy, slow process. I like all his examples because they are accurate, from my perspective. I have one Buddhist friend who has become Conscious through studying the Dharma and meditation. We met when in our 20s, both seeking another life experience. In fact, he introduced me to meditation in Boulder, CO. He controls his emotions better than I, and is far more patient and understanding of those unconscious. I attribute these qualities to his years of studying the Dharma. I became Conscious accidentally through pain, suffering, and forgiveness. I believe many people throughout the world are Conscious from having experienced difficult lives; yet, they have had no exposure to Spiritual teachings, or psychological insight. This vid is one of my favorites because of the beautiful descriptions of our sense of Outer Reality and Inner Reality. The reality created from our sensations is difficult to maintain, just as he explains. Sometimes, I just shut it down because going back and forth is confusing; as if one must join a monetary or community of like minded souls. Then what, deny outer reality completely? I have not been able to resolve these concerns, personally.

Buddha called it detachment. Detachment is not denial. All these amateur Buddhist con men practised is denial, and they are useless and harmful to your well being.

The simulation hypothesis encapsulates the concept we live inside a simulation. Like any simulation model, simulations can operate inside simulations. The matrix is like a feedback loop of a guitar amplifier; we only break free of the mistakes on this earthly plane, once we break the cycle. Much like the guitar amplifier, we turn down the volume and go within ourselves to learn to listen. The quieter we are, the more we hear. We only gain higher consciousness through love, the highest frequency and challenging our beliefs.

LOL !!! You've been fooled. There is no such thing as absolute reality, just another unreality humans made up in their minds. What we need is to believe. Believe in joy and you shall have joy. Believe in sorrow and you shall have sorrow. It's that simple. Keep your joy last longer and your sorrow more brief is the way to go. All you need to do is to believe.

I found listening to the explanations at 1.75x speed was more comprehensible than at normal speed. However, I did slow it down to normal speed during the meditation section at the end.
The explanations are simple and obvious, and we know all of that when we stop to think about it. The problem is that for most people they never think about it at all because they are trapped in continuous distractions of sensory input from the external world. Meditation is the only cure to break the illusion.

Excellent video and insightful teaching.Thank you. I always wondered what the Eastern paths meant when they said the world is Maya or illusion. You made it very easy for me to finally understand this concept. I experienced different levels of Samadhi during my meditation and contemplation practice. I also experienced Kundalini awakening 22 years ago. It seems there are gradations or levels of samadhi. One level I experienced was a realm of pure Golden Light. The Light radiated love and ecstacy, which pierced every cell of my body, I looked at my body and it was made of Light, I still had form but it was not my human form. I was in the form of a Light Body, I perceived myself as an individual spiritual being (atman) yet I was part of the Source (Brahman) and was made of the same stuff. I think this was a lower level of samadhi because I could still perceive myself as an Individual. There was still very slight subject/object relations. I also experienced the Oneness and I was that Oneness. That Oneness was my Self..my ultimate identity. I think this objectless awareness was a higher samadhi because there was no longer subject/object awareness. I wonder if there are higher levels than this?

Your example of the person repeatedly reminding her friend, "It is only a movie" is very helpful for me. Thank you for this. I'm still puzzled - "Why does the table FEEL solid? • @user-nj5jh6xe7q
      @user-nj5jh6xe7q 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

If you will allow me to Julia, I will express how I understood his example...
Atoms of the hand as well as the table have electrons that are negatively charged and are in a cloud around the positively charged nucleus. Because the electrons in the atoms of the hand, as well as the electrons in the atoms of the table are negatively charged, they repel each other when they get close. When the hand appears to touch the table, what is really happening is an interaction between the electrons of the atoms in the hand and the electrons in the atoms of the table. This is called the electro-static force.
The Body (and mind) are designed so that the nerves in the hand sense this repulsive force as pressure, not an electron to electron interaction. Even though the electrons and atoms of the hand and table themselves sense the interactions of the electro-static force, our body and mind operate on a different scale of information. This is why we can only know and describe electro-static repulsion as feeling "solid".
      Hope that helps : )

I have so many questions. I have, over the last few years followed this channel and learnt so many things. It’s explained in a very digestible manner and always leaves me wanting to know more and more. Yet, doubts remain. If only I could have a conversation with the Swami. I also follow J Krishnamurti’s channel (he has been deceased for some time now) and would like to ask him questions. Krishnamurti didn’t believe in a ‘God’ and thought all religions were nonsense and merely superstition. He espoused that meditation (real meditation as he thought) couldn’t be practiced unless one had a perfectly ordered life and no conflict or fear. My doubts tend to err on the side of Krishnamurti, that is that this Advaita Vedanta is just wishful thinking, but the Swami is so compelling and convincing and I want to believe what he is saying is true. It’s confusing to be honest.

From many of my own, but not consistent, experiences and research, there is a God. God is reality itself. God is not just the image, not just the idea, not just the amalgamation of our combined perceptions. God is reality itself. So here is a link if it works, it is a scholarly study on Krishnamurti and it says this about god: "Krishnamurti believed life itself was God, and every action manifested itself with God."
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3673342/
I don't particularly agree with everything Krishnamurti has said, and that isn't because he is wrong, but because he is often asking questions relative to the people around him. He is trying to pull out people's biases, beliefs, illusions, dogmas, limitations, etc. So his diatribes are not necessarily "accurate" descriptions of the real, as non-dual traditions like Advaita are attempting to convey. Many non-dual traditions try to use language to simply describe the infinite unified reality, aware that the words themselves do not suffice. Krishnamurti in my experience of reading and listening to him, is probing the relative humans present to try and get them out of their particular loops/problems. This is beautiful, but it isn't as focused on solid claims about reality as advaita is trying to do.
So, God is this (THIS). It is everything, it is beyond all our perceptions and senses, and it is infinite. It cannot be finite, with a start, end, and edge. How did it start? What is outside it? What is leftover when it is done? Did infinite nothing start "finite reality"? Then infinite nothingness is so powerful, that it ought to be considered something, and if there is infinite+eternal nothing when this finite reality is done, what is to say it won't start another reality? Basically, a finite reality instantly brings in the paradox of an infinite reality, this ad-infinitum of infinite nothing to universe, to infinite nothing, to universe to ........ Finitude is paradoxical, and cannot logically be the case (impossible in deduction/reason) and if it were finite somehow, beyond logic, then we wouldn't have the ability to observe that it has ended because we would have ended with it (impossible in induction/observation).
It is only reasonable to conclude that reality in and of itself must be infinite, as there is no evidence of legitimate finitude empirically, and no sound argument for it logically, since it always gives rise to it's opposite.
Being infinite, it knows no bounds, anything is possible, including the most glorious ever-evolving, neverending bliss, and the farthest never-reaches of pain and confusion. It is both our idea/limited perception of it ("God"), and it is infinitely beyond that (God). The level of intelligence, consciousness, knowingness, etc. of this infinite existence far surpasses our own. It is beyond conscious/sentient, it is infinite; both, neither, either, and beyond these too. ..... This infinite existence is God, that is what the ancients are talking about. It is THIS, right here, right now, and well beyond our own capacities and beliefs about it.
Advaita is sharing with us that we are THIS, always have been, always will be. We are reality, we are infinite, we are God; never actually separate. For instance: we may think that a silhouette in the distance is, say, an owl....when we approach it we may realize it was simply a few branches aligned to have a similar shape to an owl and our minds made the mistake. Similarly, we perceive reality as however we do, but when we actually look directly, tear away all those conceptions, we realize it is infinite, consciousness, indescribable, and totally unified. We just mistake it as all these specific parts, memories, separations, sensations, visuals, names etc. But reality itself is not this, and what reality actually is is what yogis call God.
I hope this helps you understand God a bit more. When I see JK talk of God, he seems to just want people to get out of the habit of using God with insecurity/fear and as this "savior". That is my interpretation of what he says at least in a bit of reading, doesn't mean it is his whole intention.
      God Bless :p

4:24 -- Up till now the Swami has been accurate. but here some tendentiousness starts creeping in. The parts of experience of the world supplied by the brain is not only massive, but massively accurate. The reason for this is that the material it supplies in the waking state is a sophisticated distillate of innumerable past experiences that allows it to act predictively on a continuous basis. The occasions when this sophisticated probabilistic machinery misleads us are few and far between, and helps us understand why there are so few good examples of this besides "the piece of rope by the wayside at dusk mistaken for a snake" in Shankara. His immortal "jagat mithyA" is best rendered "the world is an appearance" rather than "the world is an illusion". Then you can begin asking "appearance of what, in what, and for what" as a start toward epistemic discernment.

Wow.. This video hit me pretty hard. It got me thinking of, what if we lived in our "dream reality" our whole lives. We can do anything we could imagine, but not intentionally, like our dreams. Can't feel another person's touch, can do things you really want to in that life but couldn't. I bet any amount of money, most people in that reality, would do anything to somehow be in the reality we are now. We can live, touch, smell, taste, doing whatever we wanted to do with full control. Anyway, I think we take this one we have for granted and don't realize our true potential WITH all this control and give senses most are blessed with and if not, they're usually the ones that are very thankful for the senses and body parts they do have left. I know I take mine for granted.....
