@@DatboiJAKOB "most trick weapons are found in the dlc"
That is wrong from a numbers stand point, it's less than half (10/11 out 26 in total, I can't remember whether one of them is from the dlc)
Then he says that an overwhelming amount of bossfights pit you against "3, to 30, to just infinite bosses".
There's Rom, the Shadows, The Emissaries and the Failures and the Witches.
Now, you can count Micolash, but these puppets don't even do shit so I won't. You could say the one Reborn, but honestly? Honestly?
So, that's five bosses out of 22, and 7 if you're a pussy. Now, if you have Google, you can find out quickly that you can cheese the witches. And even so, the normal enemies there are so slow, I don't know how you would ever find them a problem. Rom is annoying, I get that. The shadows are hard, granted, but you can also summons, so make of that what you will. The Emissaries.... Are just that, but they are also easy as shit. And the same goes for the failures. So, I see one boss where the enemies in the room are arguably no problem at all, two that are widely regarded as being easy as shit and the shadows. Calling that an overwhelming amount, when one of them is optional is pretty rich... Oh who am I kidding, all of them are easy except for the shadows! The Failures, Emissaries and Witches are all technically optional (Witches debatably, but they're not required to get through the game). And Rom isn't hard, it's tedious. Congrats, you don't like Rom, very unique (Although maybe that's just because of Chalice Rom that I dislike the normal fight).

The issue with this review is the assumption that a review or critique can be objective in its evaluation, of either specific aspects or the artistic piece as a whole; all the things you listed as flaws is a selection of personal opinions, regardless of what you said in the video or added in the description. Outside of technical reviews, all such evaluations are always - ALWAYS - subjective.
Dude, not everyone plays these games in the same way and for the same reasons. Not everything is about stats, numbers, and build optimization; pure fun and engagement are important on their own. The very fact that the trick form of a weapon often plays and feels different from its regular one, with different timings and benefits, is enough for many of us to love them. The addition of a smooth transition between these states in the form of an additional attack, allowing for custom-made combos, is a huge bonus as well. It's the whole reason people like me love Character Action games like DMC and Bayonetta, to showcase expertise and personal expression (of course, BB isn't on that level but I engage with its weapons so fully for a similar reason). If I followed your seeming view on this topic, I would just mash one or two buttons in those games because it's 'enough' and doesn't require the great extra effort of learning all the moves and potential combos and how to implement them in a practical manner.
I'm sorry if my answer seems a bit low-brow for you, but things like style and variety are often important for their own sake. Sure, benefits should be created through direct or indirect rewards, but you can't lean on that alone either, especially not in action-oriented games. Hell, BB isn't my favorite From game either (I prefer Sekiro, DS3, and ER), and have some notable complaints. Balance after Central Yharnam is fucked due to excessive options and upgrade materials early on; parries, viscerals, and limb-break are unbalanced in the player's favor; not enough visual or enemy variety; enemy mechanical design tanks in the mid and late game, and so on.
I think the issues and complaints you have with BB are valid. What's not valid is assuming most everyone else is "blind" (your words) or a shallow dopamine whore (my words and a bit exaggerated, but I think the implication was obviously there). What's a flaw for you might just not be for someone else. What is a major problem for you might be a minor one for someone else. Sorry if that sounded like pretentious lecturing, but you didn't do yourself any favours. Neither implied subjectivity or adding "I don't mean to make anyone dislike this game" in the description are good reasons for making disingenuous assertions about other people's taste and intelligence. I mean, how are the multiple 'blind fans' comments and that whole 'playstation exclusivity' section nothing short of that, especially when you directly - and falsely - stated that the flaws and review are "objective"?

    • @FirstPlace97
      @FirstPlace97 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

There definitely are objective critiques and you (correctly) identified one yourself. DMC and Bayonetta are deeper games, and hence why they are better games and why Bloodborne is not as good as people think. When it comes down to the objective of an action game, the goal is to facilitate freedom. Bloodborne, like Sekiro, are designed around curated playstyles. This is where the objectivity comes in.
There are not "custom combos" in these games. You have exactly 2 light attack hit animations and 3 in heavy form (with an extra attack during transition). These are not even combos in the sense that they don't actually string together at all, and some of these are hardly viable given the lack of hit stun in encounters. Furthermore, given the fact that attacks have stamina cool downs in these games takes us even farther from where the genre peaked with games like DMC, Gaiden, Bayo etc. So there are actual critiques of not just the game but the genre itself.
It's why when we talk about the best games in the genre, we talk about how mechanics have evolved over time and how some games are just inherently better because they are more fulfilling, not in a personal sense but in terms of the artist's conceptualization. Bloodborne has many objective errors, such as the horrible loading times and the fact that you have to teleport to the hub instead of being able to go where you please. Stamina consumption is ridiculous in this game, to the point that even when you are out of combat it still drains. The list goes on.
So, yeah, personal enjoyment is subjective but game design is not. The game will always be flawed with the genre as a whole, but even then there are better genre games (once again, you identified ER correctly as a better game).

Doing chalice dungeons completely trivializes the game after the cumm chalice and you can over level so easily and most of the late game bosses are just damage sponges that you have to tough out to get to gherman. i think unfortunately this is a key example of what happens when you play fromsoft games pre ds3 after having played ds3. I started with dark souls 1, dropped it, beat ds2 and came back to it, then i think i did demons souls, then ds3, and finally bloodborne. Over the years i've tried revisiting bloodborne, in total playing through it around 4 or so times. Each time i have felt like i just don't get what other people see. People say the combat is so fast, but i found it about on par with ds3. I don't enjoy bloodborne that much, but i think i understand why i don't. I played ds3 first. If i had played ds3 before any of the other games, i'd be too put off by their mostly inferior encounter design and gameplay to enjoy their positive aspects, but i played everything but bloodborne before ds3 so i do enjoy each games positives. That's why i can't enjoy bloodborne, because i didn't play it before ds3, so i can't look back on it and think fondly of it when ds3 mostly does the faster combat aspect entirely better imo.
I do think it's important to understand that there are things you just miss out on if you haven't experienced these without the expectations the fan base sets up and the expectations you put it to with having played ds3. Every game has their flaws and are each masterpieces in some aspects. Demons' souls has some of the best atmosphere in any game, feeling incredibly otherworldy.. It also has some of that fun old video game design jank that i find charming. dark souls loses the jank and the otherworldy atmosphere, mostly replacing it with it's very immersive and dark atmosphere, created by its incredible first half with a world you really get lost in as so many areas connect and wind into each other. dark souls 2 for all it's problems is one of the most balanced of the games, and by far had the most enjoyable pvp. I can't tell you what bloodborne does best, but i'm sure there are people who can. Dark souls 3 by far has the best gameplay and bosses, but it ultimately sacrifices most of the rest of the game for that. Dark souls 3 is the kind of game where if it's your first game it's incredible and amazing. If it's something you play after dark souls 1, it's still incredible and amazing, but the world is frankly boring. It's linear, and nearly every npc is just hey look its that dude from dark souls 1. It spends far too much time saying hey remember that thing from dark souls 1, but that all just becomes original if you haven't played dark souls 1 and so you miss the problem of it entirely. I didn't mention the other games flaws because they are numerous and obvious, but it's important to remember that each of these games are heavily flawed. Despite dark souls 3's great gameplay it falls incredibly short of the rest of the series in a lot of ways.

I played DS3 after BB (my first From game) and it was hugely disappointing, super slow character movement with BB-fast enemies, boring and linear and annoying levels for more than half the game, and a disconnected feel to the overall experience that was certainly its theme (the stripmining nature of sequels) but not particularly memorable beyond that, especially when compared to the depth of BB's themes and story. So it really does depend on personal take. Tbh this take -- calling BB mid 2 minutes in -- feels more contrarian clickbaitery than anything else.

The biggest issue I see however is you're judging the quality of the game based almost on bosses and a little bit on weapons. These shouldn't overshadow the other aspects of the game that make it great such as lore, soundtrack, sound design, level design, character design, NPCs, voice acting, dialogue, atmosphere, tone, and etc. You touch on some of these but albeit extremely briefly and they're largely overshadowed by the bosses and weapons.

If you let those parts of the game carry it in your memory, which I believe most fans did, you'll obviously have a much higher opinion of it, which lead me to assuming it would be my favorite game of all time. However, the weaker aspects, like the gank bosses, are the more forward facing parts of the game that make up the gameplay. Which is mostly why I was disappointed.

I had a similar experience with bloodborne bc I wasn’t able to play it until after the other souls games and Sekiro too.
When I finally got to it, I beat all the main bosses easily (dlc was a lot tougher). And that was it. It think so many bloodborne fanboys are so fond of i because it’s the first game they really had to learn to get gud and fight up close.
I had already been doing that for years and breezed through the game. Also the aesthetic is very unique and monster design is very memorable and that’s what normies gravitate towards.
For those of us that replay these games tons of times, we see the combat and bosses as the most interesting part- two things which bloodborne fails at constantly.
With all that being said, a remake actually would be awesome becuase the biggest draw to the game is the visuals and atmosphere- that’s my theory of why fans want it so badly.

I feel like all vanilla souls games are underwhelming after years passing, and the DLC is usually always the standout.
    Vanilla DS1 = Boring Manus/Artorias = Amazing
Ds2 = Horrible game (with lovable charm) DS2 DLC = Also a lot of garbage but some amazing boss fights, armor and weapons
DS3 = painfully boring & easy DS3 Ringed City = almost as amazing as Old Hunters.
Bloodborne however, albeit isn’t perfect vanilla… has by far the best vanilla game I’ve experienced. The trick weapon’s movesets may not be magic but they do add some more versatility compared to Dark Souls weapons, armor is by far the most stylish as well as areas. Hunter fights typically share a fair amount of difficulty. Limb breaking is undeniably satisfying. Sure bosses can be cheesed with blood pellets / parry spamming, but Souls bosses have historically always been cheesable in some way. Speculating bosses moves and saying “this move is bullshit” is something souls games are known for. There’s a lot of bullshit and it’s why we love it. Also the chalices provide an entire little niche community for Bloodborne, players sharing finds in glyphs and superior gems. It’s a new layer of added depth.
Old hunters doesn’t need any convincing, as it’s arguably the best DLC ever added to a game

Absolutely dumb take on trick weapons. Obviously they’re just the BB way of 2H or dual-wielding. What’s special about it is that it’s a cool and unique way to do it along with the ability to transition between the forms in mid-combo. Trick weapons are a special way of implementing a not special mechanic.
This ‘review’ screams of a needless contrarian who didn’t like something as much as everyone else and instead of just accepting that, feels the compulsion to convince the majority that they’re wrong.

Edit: 38:53 - What "console wars" were ending in 2015? 2015 was 2 years into PS4/X-ONE, and 5 years before PS5/X-series. 2 years into a 7 year lifespan isnt the end of anything, and the previous gen was 2 years ago. In context it seems like you are just talking about the first two years of the 8th gen, but calling that "the tail end of the console wars" makes no sense......
OTOH, I found no fault with your evaluations of the game in question, and while I dont know WTF you are going for with "tail end of console wars", you are right about the PS exclusivity being the primary factor in the continued nut-swinging BB receives.

I think we'll see a change in how eras are divided: it used to be that DS2 was the last "deliberate" game and Bloodborne the first "fast" game, but with a longer view, you can really see how BB fits into that Premodern period. Because of the bosses, as you've described so well, plus things like the hub and fast travel, the willingness to be experimental with huge mechanics and risk annoyance, the willingness to make combat harder in ways other than a straight fight.

I also bought a ps4 primarily because of Bloodborne, afters years of hearing so many positive things about it, but it turned out to be a complete opposite of DS2 where everyone throws shit at the game that is for the most part pretty good, while BB gets called a masterpiece despite its numerous flaws. I ended up enjoying them both on about the same level. Trick weapons are nothing but a gimmick and the transformation attacks got me killed more times than they helped, because instead of pulling out a gun I get locked in an animation and take a combo in the face. Insight mechanic is criminally underutilised, revealing illusory walls for example would've been perfect for it, but for some reason there are none in the game. It's basically just a glorified currency. I'm surprised you didn't mention chalice dungeons, easily the worst part of BB. They're so bad that just by themselves they should be automatically lowering any final score by 1. The Old Hunters was definitely the saving grace, for me it's the best DLC Fromsoft has ever made, followed closely by the ringed city. But even a god tier DLC can't completely excuse the base game.

You bring up a lot of good points. If I had more time on my hands I might have delved into chalice dungeons. I definitely see the dungeons as a cheap way to increase the overall size of the game and that most of the bosses within are cutting room floor scraps that should have been left there. However I like to consider the chalice dungeons as "extra" content. If someone likes them then that's fine, but I would rather forget they exist lol

    • @TheStraightestWhitest
      @TheStraightestWhitest 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@jesterofjuice5132They're not extra content though. They're literally over 60% of the game's files, and you NEED to farm them to optimize your weapons. The best base game/DLC blood gems are 19-20%. The best chalice dungeon blood gems are 27.3% and there's actually even better ones like the Cursed Heavy Abyssal Gem which ideally adds +65% strength scaling and 15+ flat damage.
Look into how you get those... I have two, and about three sets of 27.3% gems. I had to farm the same bosses (FRC Watchers and FRC Depth 3 Headless Bloodletting Beast) 728 times for that. And if not for PS Plus, that would take multiple thousands of hours because you'd have no access to glyphs meaning you'd have to farm the materials for each dungeon on top of not being able to backup save before the Depth 3 Headless Bloodletting Beast to keep yourself from having to kill the other two bosses each time as well.
No game with a system like that in place just to optimize your weapons should ever be called great. People saying "it's optional" are on some heavy cope. Playing the game is optional. Breathing is optional. Everything is optional. But we as a species don't tend to go for what's optional, but for what's optimal. And in the game, what's optimal is hidden behind the worst system in gaming bar none.

Like why would I use a short axe when there is a long axe or a stick sword when I have a big sword, or a mere handle than a giant circle saw.
Agree also with transform attack sure it has slightly bigger damage but with longer animation it will likely get you killed when spam R1 is way more viable.

I have to ask you, what games do you view as a genuine 9/10 or 10/10? How exactly do you rate bloodborne? I believe BB is a 9/10 game along with Dark Souls 3, Salt and Sanctuary, Remnant 2. Hell, I would say Nioh 2 is a 10/10 and peaks any other souls-like I have played, including all the soulsborne (I still need to play Elden Ring, my pc is too old to run it properly, and play through Sekiro, if we want to act like this game is an actual souls-like/soulsborne here). They are clearly better than games like The Surge, The Surge 2, DS1, DS2, Remnant 1, and Nioh 1, which I believe are all 7/10 or 8/10 games. Do you at least view BB as a genuine 8/10 game? If we say 5/10 is average, 6/10 is above average, 7/10 is good, 8/10 is great, 9/10 fantastic, and 10/10 is nearly flawless (perfection doesn't exist), would you really not consider BB to be a great game?
Also, I'll leave you with my biggest gripe of BB. I fucking hate how you can only dash when locked-on. I really wish they went all in and made it so you dash at all times. Sure the roll has the same exact i-frames as the dash and you can do the same attacks out of it,and does make you go farther, but it still has a tradeoff of having more frames. I just finished a BB run where I was constantly locked on to all the bosses, and that was quite annoying ngl. I just want to constantly dash.

I don't really like to quantify things like that. For example, I think that halo 3 is a perfect game therefore a 10/10 however I definitely think that elden ring is a better game than halo 3, and yet I don't consider elden ring to be perfect. Its a matter of perspective I guess. Like halo 3 did everything it set out to, but elden ring does so much more that some of it was definitely going to be flawed. If I had to put a number on it, I would say that bloodborne is 8/10 or so. Taking all things into account with lore, level design, Dlc and all

    • @CalShroon
      @CalShroon 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

@@jesterofjuice5132 That just seems like a problem with your own rating. I will genuinely recommend people to play nioh 2 over ds3 or BB any day of the year because my rating system should reflect what I value in games. I know there are things in Nioh 2 some people won't enjoy at all, but I'll gladly make arguments to convince them why I believe it is one of the best games in my own world view. I really enjoy Shadows of Yharnam in Bloodborne, I went through all of ds1-ds3 and bb this past month, and I just made a tier list of all the bosses based on what I found more appealing to fight than others. I prefer fighting SoY over shit like Nameless King any day of the week, which I know a lot of people love, even though the wyvern phase is actually just boring af. I prefer Kalameet and Sinh over Midir too, Midir isn't a dragon fight it is a lizard with wings that sometimes uses them. I'll defend my takes because there is so much subjectivity when it comes to media in general. Btw, I really like Mergo's and Gerhman's fights. Gerhman is a top 5 boss in BB, and a top 10 boss fight for ds1-ds3 and BB too.
Anyways, it is really weird how you are kind of fine with being overall super negative towards a game that you view as an 8/10. I don't expect you to sing constant praises, but it is really weird how you make a video where you want to act like you don't like the game with some inane critiques overall. You complain about grinding bullets, when you can press up on your d-pad to get 5 bullets at any point in time. You can even rally this damage that you take for your blood bullets. You complain about risk free parries, but you aren't forced to partake in the parry system to begin with, let alone forced to take parries from range. This complaint is on the same level as complaining about using pyromancy, poise, shields in Ds1, rapier in ds2, and sellsword twinblades ds3 and there is probably more shit that you can argue is quite cheesy too. You also dislike back stabs, which is a clear sign of actual skill improvement. What is so bad about having an actual decently high skill ceiling overall? Backstabs during a boss fight still requires you to understand your openings for a back stab, especially if you use slower to charge weapons. It is an inherently more skillful version and cooler version than backstabs in ds1-ds3. Sure you can backstab bosses in BB, but that is incredibly sick. Plus, it isn't like BB is still not as hard, if not harder, than Ds3. Idk about you, but I think Orphan of Kos is harder than Gael. What is funny is you can cheese both of these bosses too. You can cheese Orphan with backstab spam and you can get Gael stuck in certain areas of his arena. Just the idea of being able to bully someone like Orphan because you understand how to stunlock him is a great way to show how far you have improved in a video game. The visceral system is phenomenal.
You are insanely critical about the trick weapons, when they are a clear improvement upon the games before them and arguably still better than the weapon system in ds3. I rather use trick weapons than power stance ds2 any day. These are 26 weapons that inherently equate to 26 different categories. The beasthunter saif, saw cleaver, saw spear are all pretty similar to one another, yet they are still less dissimilar than even weapons in ds3 that are in the same category. I sure love my fucking 10+ daggers and 10+ straight swords in ds3 that I can totally tell the difference between :). I sure love having a weapon like the Great Corvian Scythe being objectively better than the Great Scythe. I totally can tell the difference between pikes and spears and they are totally more different than the saif/cleaver/spear. I really love the whips and how they totally aren't purely hot garbage. The existence of trick weapons allowed ds3 to have the idea of friede's scythe, all the ringed weapons, valorheart, etc. Oh and I really love that I have to farm certain mobs in ds3 for certain weapons and armor, just like I know I'll have to do in Elden Ring too. The trick weapons are and will always be the best weapon system fromsoft has made. For bloodletter, If I want faster charged r2's and to be able to parry I can use the tiny version, if I want the range and bloodtinge damage I can use the blood version. For Amygdala Arm, If I want more range and less damage I can use the transformed version, if I want less range and more damage I can use it while untransformed, and both versions are one handed. Also, I can run a pure blunt built on the amygdala arm and never transform. It is kind of funny how you care a ton about the parry system so much that you'll gladly disregard blades of mercy and rakuyo just because they can't parry too. Btw twin blade weapons didn't exist until BB, so these weapons were the first true existence of them. Sure, you can give ds2 credit for power stancing first, but that shit required you to understand the rule of 150% in stat requirements and also what weapons can be used with one another. Also, for BB the uncanny and lost versions are a sick idea too, probably a bad execution though.
Finally, I do think you made a comment about like the first 3 boss areas being the best part in this game and you felt like there was a major drop off, but I believe that is tied to just how much you enjoy the bosses. You know I like SoY, witches and rom can burn though. Also, I would say there isn't really a genuinely bad area in BB either. The worst area in BB is probably the upper cathedral ward just because of it being brain sucker galore. Nightmare frontier is the best poison area in the fromsoft games I have played, even if they tried to make it harder with the boulder throwing children.

I've felt that Bloodborne's combat was a gimmick ever since I first picked up the game. That was purely due to the parry and backstab system. There was no point engaging with the boss' moveset, especially harder ones like Kos, when you could just learn the parry/backstabs for a few attacks, disengage from all other attacks and just bait the moves you can no-risk counter. That made the battles extremely passive and frankly boring.

@@mikhailkalinin6536 In terms of stats, perhaps. Just sayin', though, Bloodborne was my first game in the genre, and I beat all the content with that weapon, including the Chalice Dungeons and the DLC. So even the "worst weapon in the game" is perfectly viable. Hell, it has the unique ability to hit Queen Yharnum beyond her stunlock range, which really came in handy back then as a new player.
It also has the side bonus of essentially making Bloodborne the best 3D Castlevania ever made. :P

The main arguments for the game being mid is the fact that you have to buy a magic box from sony to play it . And the fact that is in 30 fps , my first soul game was ds3 and i found 60 fps laggy , i wonder how 30 would feel. In my opinion the best soul game is code vein just because i have 240 fps on it and the gameplay is generally more smooth . Give it a try if you don’t believe me , for the best experience possible play with the in game music and watch al the cutscenes you’ll be surprised on what a game you slept on .

Sekiro and Bloodborne rank as 2 of my favourite games of all time - likely because ive only played through them once each. To me they never wore out their welcome (i have never liked overly punishing games, Souls-Likes in particular).
For Bloodborne it really is the story and setting which won me over, and for why I find the game so captivating. The gameplay for me was also near flawless - with the only real negative being occasional camera issues during some of the boss fights.

Not an amazing boss, but a fresh air that does not last that long, so it reduces the chance of being annoying"
This is why I enjoy when you say stuff like: maybe even after all I said you still enjoy it.
Because people value different perspectives. Its also why I dont like when you say the opposite, claiming its impossible someone think a fight is good.
Bloodborne was my first Souls, and I died a couple of times to the witch and it was a big fight to me. Same to the beast at the church that has poison, that one was a huge challenge.

The first time you and everyone else played it, you thought it was a masterpiece and it was for it's time. The small flaws grow and grow and get more annoying with each play through for sure. It's not a mid game though. Stop trying to be the guy who hates things that are loved just for views. Apparently it's not really doing you much...

I agree that Bloodborne ais mid, but for totally different reasons. Your argument seems to focus on being such a giga-alpha-xeno chad that you can one shot every boss on first try at SL1. You don’t talk about anything but the bosses and your position on the bosses is basically that you are such an inhuman freak you can just waltz through all the fights with no challenge. Fair enough. The world is big and there are lots of people and some one out there is going to be a terminator. But most people will find this game hard. I did. But my problem with BB is that it’s boring. It strips away everything I find interesting about souls games. I play souls games for the RPG elements, for the builds, for the variety in gear, and for all the different ways to play. BB like it’s horrible brother Senior has none of that. For you the bosses are the game. For me the bosses are the obstacles that block forward progress that I struggle through to get back to the game. So yeah I agree BB is not what people make it out to be, but it’s definitely for totally different reasons.

After having played the majority of Fromsoft's catalogue and only just going through Bloodborne now, I hard agree with the basegame bosses being fairly mediocre. There's so many easy gank fights in a game where the combat system shines most in a 1v1 fight vs. an aggressive weapon user. Of course, the obvious retort would be that difficulty isn't everything makes a boss good etc., but the whole vibe of the game is that you're an immensely skilled hunter and even then the odds are still stacked against you, and if you've played the later games, the basegame bosses are mostly snoozefests that you beat in one or two tries while not even knowing their moveset at all. The narrative and gameplay feel disjointed in regards to that particular aspect. The DLC bosses are quite a bit better, I wish they had Old Hunters level bosses all the way throughout the basegame.

I watched both this and your LoP analysis, agree with all you said in both, but am left confused by why I enjoyed Bloodborne much more than LoP. You do focus very heavily on the gameplay in this video. I think what makes Bloodborne, as well as Fromsoft's clunkier older titles, so well regarded even today is their oppressive atmosphere; how you feel when navigating through its levels. I will never forget the time I had descended blightown and was desperately searching for the next bonfire, having no idea which direction to go (I went towards the tree). Of course there is no replayability in this experience, but it's something I treasure and reminiscence about even today, and which leads me to encourage others to play the game to experience as well. I never felt like this playing LoP.
Souls games are full of moments where you get to overlook the next part of your journey and it just fills your tummy with butterflies knowing you'll get to explore this mysterious place. There was never such a moment in LoP - navigating areas felt like a chore and I just wanted to get to the next boss.
In Bloodborne this goes hand in hand with the Lovecraftian setting. Entering Yahar'gul with its eery choir playing, to a background of gothic architecture draped in a mysterious purple colour filter. Then seeing the terrifying lesser amygdala perched to the side of buildings. It's an amazing audiovisual experience. I never cared much for stories, and when I watched your LoP video I realised I missed probably 95% of it.
The atmosphere of souls games - crafted by the careful interworking of level and environmental design, world building and music is something I cannot live without. This is the reason why I regard Fromsoft as being in their own league, and soulslikes, even as great ones as LoP, always falls short.
