- In this tutorial, our objective is to help all boat owners become CONFIDENT in laying an inside patch to repair any holes/tears near the seam of their PVC boats. This process can be applied to Hypalon boats while substituting for the proper chemicals. The purpose of laying an inside patch is that seam on a boat creates a slightly elevated surface, making it impossible to have a permanent air-holding patch, that under pressure forces the air out along the seam. By laying an inside patch it seals the leak simply because the inside of the boat is flat. A flat surface is essential in successful lifelong boat repairs. Please see our introduction film for a safe and successful assessment of repairs.
This tutorial does not include the second patch one would need to lay on the outside of their boat.
