My kit arrived in the UK is now in my posession. Four were ordered by J Perkins, the distributors. So I`ve had one, another modeller has another and two remain on the shelf for distribution within the trade. The double wrapped box is quite massive and extremely heavy. I have a weak back and am almost unable to lift it! The wheels are a cheaper and lighter rendition of the popular commonly availble Du-Bro alternatives. The downside is that they are not fitted with bearings and are plain drilled plastic. Coloured bright white, they will require to be painted so they do not look overly garish. Black is the colour used on the full sized aircraft. I am in the early stages of construction of a slightly larger 118" span Pietenpol drawn by Wendell Hostetler and cut by SLEC here in the UK. I need to complete that kit first before I begin the Seagull kit. I`ve quite a bit of building ahead! Mike
Looks pretty good. My local model shop advises kits should be available via J Perkins for the UK market soon after Christmas 2023. I have a new Laser 310 flat twin waiting in a box for it.
This Seagull Pietenpol appears to be based on a full size French registered example....F-PBGT. Whilst the model has the original classic Bernard Pietenpol fuselage, tailplane, elevators, rudder and fin but with a longer nose to accomodate larger and more powerful modern engines, the Seagull chosen colour scheme is historically incorrect for this early specification airframe. F-PBGT is a late version of the airframe into which the builder has incorporated the tailplane, elevators, rudder and fin taken directly from a J3 Piper Cub.....hence the "Cub" sticker on the fin. The Pietenpol has always been built by private individuals rather than by a large commercial company. As a result of personal preference, builders and owners often modify the design to their own ideas. No one Pietenpol is the same as any other. In other words they are all different in various respects. Inclusion of Piper Cub or Taylor Craft Auster parts is not unusual. I know of one aircraft that is made purely from Piper Cub components...the only part that is Pietenpol is the fuselage! If as a modeller you wanted to correct the detail error on this Seagull Pietenpol, it would be quite easy to build a quarter scale fin, rudder, tailplane and elevators and cover to match the model kit colour scheme....then you would have a unique and scale accurate model! Yes, I have been a bit picky over these details. It isn`t a deal breaker and have one of these kits on order from the UK distributors. This should be with me soon after Christmas 2023.
I can see why they choose that color scheme and markings, beautiful. I'm fortunate to have this model under assembly now in an electric 12S version. Thanks for the information link. @@mikekennedy389
@@Maitrungrc. Can you please tell us if those wonderful wheels are in the kit? The video and also the User Manual shows typical cheaper and less attractive DuBro type wheels fitted. If the type fitted to the proto-type are not included, could you tell us the name of the manufacturer and the part numbers please. i would like to fit the type as fitted to the proto-type. They look so much better than the DuBro units. Perhaps Seagull could offer them as upgrade parts?
@@mikekennedy389 I'm sorry that the wheel supplier has only produced a pair of sample wheels because it cannot be mass produced, because the size is too small to mass produce that type of wheel,
