And how safe is 3d printing resin, because all the websites say it's cancerous, toxic and unsafe to have in the house despite having proper ventilation, the residue still gets around in the air as it's almost impossible to filter out all by-products

I have followed your channel for a couple of months now. This Titan series has really inspired me. I Fdm printed a knight a while ago but I haven't assembled it yet. But I found the horse botton and armor on cults so now I will have to do that. But you have inspired me to build a whole squad. I am looking at resin printers now. Still doing research... Thank you for your honesty and sharing your journey!

The way I always rationalise 3d printing over buying the models is "Why spend $100 AUD on 10 space marines when I can make the same amount, with custom designs and better control over the poses, for less than $5 of resin (give or take)"

Your mistake was in putting only small drain holes.
With resin being resin, it will stick in small corners.
I printed a Gladiator and using MS 3d program I created big oval forms that I then cut out from the bottom of the stl along with regular small drain holes in parts with low visibility that I filled with putty after.
It printed perfectly and the bigger bottom than the GW Rogal Dorn tank (lol) made it super easy to clean.
Try removing big chunks of the interior panels, they will be invisible and you can use green stuff or putty to put them in place.
    You'll save even more resin

I'm currently purchasing the Warlord Titan through my local GW store (ordered the head and the weapons this week) so its interesting to see what process people go through to 3D print one as an alternative. I've often thought about getting into 3D printing, but the more I dig into it, the more I realise I probably wouldn't have the required space or patience. I think the challenge of building and painting the genuine Warlord will be more than enough for me, without the additional challenge of supporting and printing the beast!

I'm 3d printing a Chaos Knights army with my FDM printer, and at 0.12mm layer height and a ton of patience, it has been a blast. I've had a few failures which I managed to salvage, and with a bit (ton) of postprocessing, it's coming out amazingly. I believe it would be easier and cheaper to also print Titans fully on FDM.

3d Printing is a perfect addition to the hobby. You're able to bring your ideas to life.
The first thing i printed were 8mm Miniatures for the Warhammer 40k - risk Edition. Followed up by adding new rules and Units like Superheavy Tanks and Titans. Thats was all possible thanks to my 3d Printer.😅

Since you mentioned people who spent thousands on their armies propably being not so happy with 3d printing:
I own an (almost) full chapter of original Blood Angels. Also have other original armies. (Been collecting for almost 25 years)
And yet i have NO problem at all with people printing their armies.
As long as they enjoy the hobby, want to have a fair game, and are nice, i am ready for glorious battle.
(Been happily printing some OPR myself 😄)
Personally i dont like wargaming as a status symbol.
    It should just be fun.
3d printing gives more people the opportunity to get into the hobby.

Very confused how you hit that much resin when printing hollow. I’ve been going down the solid route and am on track for about 12-15 kg total. All the core structure barring one shoulder came to under 6 kg of resin, that’s including the odd misprint due to forgetting to rescale or the odd part I printed an extra off due to forgetting to mirror. Only reason I’ve not got the shoulder done is cause my screen died the other day. I suspect the armour plates will be 2-3 kg tops. Then it’s just the head and weapons which will likely hit 3-4 kg.

One more thing I might add dude if you have the time, go down to halfords and grab 1K diamond putty and you can thin it out with methylated spirits and paint it onto the skeleton. It is sandable so you can make the skeleton look smooth like it was made via SLA. It will take you a while and you really need a good respirator mask and eye protection for that shit. It's toxic as fuck. You can always hit it with Halfords Filler primer after too. I made a FDM Necron Monolith that way and it looks as good as the one I did in resin.

Unfortunately, every morning I have to check all of my prints to see if any of them have split and leaked resin everywhere. There’s nothing more soul destroying than having to throw away fully painted models (after the leaked resin has cured). I’m up to around 100 models I’ve had to throw- so much for saving money and resin🤦‍♂️

Heyo! Weird the hollowed parts did that. One thing I hear all the time is don't be afraid to over cure resin pieces, especially hollowed ones. One thing I've started doing is after I've cured both sides for 10 mins a side (so 20 mins), I take hollow parts, dunk them in a clear tupperware container with water and leave it in the sun. I figure this is better for ensuring the interior is cured properly due to how sunlight refracts(correct terminology?) in water. Call me a sniffer but I also give the drain holes a brief whiff to see if it still smells chemically. Obviously don't sit there snorting hollowed resin prints :D

"the fact that it's able to put out 8k detail is amazing" there is no such thing as 8k detail, what determines pixel detail is pixel size, so a 15 inch printer that's 8k will have far bigger pixels than a sub 10 inch printer thats 8k so no it's not as detailed as other 8k printers. It's pixel size is 43 µm which is more comparable to printers like the saturn s at 48um than 10inch or below 8k printers which are about 30um.
