Thanks for posting. On my '05 Dynaquest I removed that 'arm' and use buggie cord to hold retracted steps and remove buggie when needing steps. I priced a replacement steps which cost over 700$ !

This video was perfect. I'm at a campsite, have to leave today, and don't have the time to do major repairs on my step. Just a quick *hey here's how to disconnect it from the motor* really solved my problem and got me moving again thank you

I'm in the process of fixing mine now. The motor on mine wouldn't run but the gearbox looked great. As simple as these things are made, I'm surprised they give so much trouble.

Appreciate the video. Mind have been so weird. Works for weeks. Stops (always in) then won’t work for weeks. Then works again. I’ve never looked so this is a help. Thanks for showing the manual. Need to find it online

Thanks for the video. Gave me enough info to fix or manually operate the stairs on my RV. I am not spending hundreds of dollars for parts either

I have had my same Kwikee steps have a similar issue, after the first miracle fix, I have done it again and it worked. This is just a window motor from a car, some people have said to remove and bang it on the ground and it fixes it. My fix was extremely similar. I took the motor out, took it apart, regreased, reassembled and boom, all good. The motor gears get jammed up, I suspect from people stepping on them before they are all the way out. We make sure to never do that anymore. Stuck out is way better than stuck in, by the way, trying to get your arms up there to do anything when they are stuck in...holy crap. Anyways, zero dollars invested in my OG Kwikee steps from 1999 and fixed them twice, they just wanted some attention, might be your issue here, though a year later, I hope you have fixed already.

If your steps are stuck make sure your RV is level.
Our motor home didn’t look too out of level to me when our steps got stuck closed. My wife insisted we just needed to level the RV as the steps were likely bound up. Once again, she was right.

Just fixed my step, mine was straight forward the trans arm broke, on thing you might want to try putting 12 volts to the motor, if you reverse the wires in will run in or out as needed.that will tell you if the motors good, new motors are about 40.00 on amazon

Try cleaning and sanding your ground connections. Make sure you have metal to metal contact

Mine works when the coach has the key on but if the key is off it won't work it's got me baffled I'm thinking it's a relay or something to that effect I have yet to get around to looking at it I just take that big step up in a big jump down that'll get old soon enough

my steps wouldn't go up i had to get gas too. i put power to the motor with a 12 v jump box steps went right up. put them back down the same way just reversed the yellow and red wire.

I replaced my motor already and it was working fine for about 6 months and then it quit again and I have yet to find out why but I'm pretty sure it's not a motor whatever it takes I will fix it it's just I got to find the time to look at it

Check your relay it's next to the steps I have to do that on mine too I'm pretty sure that's what's wrong with it my relay is dirty you're supposed to change your relays every two years I think and you're solenoids like I'm going to do that

They made a huge engineering mistake by not disabling the steps when the yellow wire is energized
