    I don't own a Miata but love the detail in the video! ..and yes, I'll watch the entire video! The work and effort you put into making this high quality video is second to none. Keep the videos coming!

    This is amazing! I got a miata with oil all over the engine bay and need to clean it all out. Plan on replacing almost everything in the engine bay, and this is so helpful!

    Thank you so much for this guide, truly your time is really appreciated! Got a subscriber out of me! I am a brand new diy mechanic, and my first project car is a Miata have wanted once since 97, finally have time to learn mechanics and enjoy a hobby! Just turned 43 and got a job that pays enough I don’t need to work a ton of Over Time and I can afford to do a project and buy the tools I need!

    I was able to very easily break loose the two bolts at 23:00 using a ratcheting 12mm box wrench. I then removed the bolts holding the power steering unit in place to move it out of the way to then fully remove those two bolts. It was still tricky to scrape off the seal though so I think I'll try to remove that piece of pipe anyways so it's easier to apply the new gasket and gasket maker to it.
    Also this video is great, Ive constantly been rewatching it while working on mine (it's been a few days from finding new things I should replace, waiting for parts, and making time to keep working on it).

    As the headline also mentions NB: the NB alternator has only one bolt at the bottom, which is installed FROM THE BACK. So there is no nut missing on the front, and you'll also will have the "benefit" to remove the intakebody crutch prior to wiggling out this pretty long bolt.

    I did my seals this spring. Be very, very carefull with removing the crank sprocket, you might damage either the sprocket or oilpump and reinstall the new seals very, very precies or they may leak after all. Then it becomes a costly and long running repair.
    Cas o ring is very fiddely but do able. Ps: by far the best video according all the engine jobs!

    You don't need a cam shaft holder tool, OR wrenches to keep them in position. The cam gears ONLY go on one way, and as long as the CRANK is TDC (top dead center) then you can put the cam gears back on, and set them also to TDC - and you are good to go.

    Great video sir! Can the CAS to removed and resealed without taking the whole top of the engine apart? My son just bought a 1990 Miata and it looks like the CAS is leaking pretty bad.

    • @QuincyStick
      @QuincyStick 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, just the cas can be removed. Taking the valve cover off is stupidly easy though, if you do decide to replace its gasket as well.

  • @melwick04
    @melwick04 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can a rebuilt head from a mk2 1.6 bolt straight to a mk1 block? New gasket and head bolts obviously, got both rocker covers.

    You called an AFM air flow meter, actually called the MAF mass airflow sensor to be correct.

    • @kornizz5549
      @kornizz5549 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He is correct its 1.6l miata it has AFM not MAF. There is flap which regulates/meassuresair flow.
      On 1.8l miata there is only sensor which meassures air mass flow MAF.

    • @QuincyStick
      @QuincyStick 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is an AFM, not a MAF. Don't try to correct others when you do not know what you're talking about.

    • @kornizz5549
      @kornizz5549 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@QuincyStick man you don't know what are you talking about.
      AFM was replaced by MAF in '90s. AFM and MAF work differently and are absolutely different things.

    • @QuincyStick
      @QuincyStick 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @kornizz5549 not exactly sure why you think I'm 1. Talking to you 2. Disagreeing with you. In this video, it's an AFM, as that's what 1.6s used.

    not a good idea to "drop your spark plugs down the chute" unless you like buying new ones or dealing with misfire engine codes since you can easily damage one doing that. best to seat each plug in the spark plug socket and put them in correctly one at a time then torque them to the correct rating.

  • @one234569and10
    @one234569and10 ปีที่แล้ว

    THIS IS FOR A SHORT NOSE
    ALSO A 1.6L - most videos dont say 1.6 or 1.8, which really sucks.
