I studied alone. I went to Japan to study old swords. They are like books. However, you cannot learn everything by yourself. While visiting friends, colleagues in Russia, I learned a lot in the field of polishing and koshirae production, lacquer techniques. Even in Japan, sometimes someone helped and advised me in the field of koshirae. During the visit of Russian colleagues, we made two swords. Me tanto and a fellow wakizashi that I was a bit involved with. Also the tartara process and tamahagane production took place. It was an exchange of information and mutual assistance in piecing together the puzzle that is Japanese sword production.
