Lah is a suffix in the Malay language.
Use #1
It doesn't have a meaning per se but when used, it presents the sentence with a politer tone of voice.
Examples of "lah" used with a verb:
"Simpan wang tunai kedalam laci" would translate to "Keep the cash in the drawer" - with an instructional tone of voice. Whereas; "SimpanLAH wang tunai kedalam laci" would mean the same but with a more persuasive tone of voice. Short of saying "Please keep the cash in the drawer".
To "makan" would be asking you to eat but to "makanlah" would be inviting you to eat.
Use #2
"Lah" could also be used to express incredulity or impatience. For example, when asked, "Where did you put the cash?".
"Didalam lacilah". Could translate to "Duh, in the drawer (like you asked me to)".
Use #3
Meaning 'is':
"Saya" means "I" or "Me", in Malay.
With the suffix, "lah", "Sayalah" becomes "I am".
