Hey man just semi recently started playing chess and just wanted to say your videos are helping me a lot. Very concise, engaging and packed with information. Keep it up brother
The company mentions on its site that it stopped providing manuals because software is always being updated. They started sending with a screen protector instead and manual was found online. Then, due to feedback, they went back to providing manuals. But their supply is a mix of both so if you buy an evo, you might get the screen protector or you might get the manual. In any case, I’d recommend going online to see if their manual there is better
the engine training could be amazing if it works, I'm not entirely convinced they play like the opponent they claim to emulate just yet. I don't think the tech is there yet. Though I look forward to when it does get there.
I wonder what the point of downoading all the games is, if the chessbot doesn't even play the openings the player would play? It doesn't really help prepare for an opponent then, no?
Seems the engine replication is pretty terrible but looks a decent build quality - I'll have a look at the price to see if there is any value there. Congrats on the sponsorship!
Always wondered in these kind of videos what is the point of showing opening of the package? Love your videos including this one, just wondering bout that.

Interesting, I'm considering buying it. How does analyzing work? Could I use this board to prepare certain openings using just this board? Does it work with the licjess analysis Tab?
@@HangingPawns I haven't got that far yet. I have just been using it against the bots for practicing openings thus far. And for practicing my chess thinking skills. It is quite good the way it indicates the optimal moves by square colours. If I notice that a square that I ntend to move to is showing red, then it indicates that there is likely some tactic that will arise if I move to that square. So, I try to find the tactic that I should avoid.
Hi, as you can download engins, is that mean you can play offline with this board? have you tried to play without connection with downloaded engins Thanks for your answer
I have used the original Chessnut Air since it first came out a couple of years ago. It worked like a charm for the first 3-4 months but then I started losing connection very frequently; to the point that it was really distracting. Their customer service was basically non responsive (I bet you can't reach a human live in any way). I wonder if you faced any connection issues in your test. That's the bad experience that's kept me from getting the Evo or the newly released Go.
Id rather have had the engine training function more of as an opening tree that plays the openings the opponent plays and after opening defaults to an engine of desired strenght
This would be really cool to have. Looks good quality. I personally get dry eyes and eye fatigue from staring at screens all the time. And I normally play rapid online, not blitz or bullet so I'd be ok with this. If I had more time to play chess I'd consider something like this. I had a primitive kasparov branded smartboard from radioshack as a kid growing up in the 90s and loved it, played hundreds of games on it. This is like that on steroids.
@@HangingPawns He does some limited individual coaching of high level players. Otherwise, he coaches groups through Killer Chess Training. He has to be one of the busiest people in chess, being a partner and the lead coach in the training business, planning courses and teaching online camps, running Quality Chess, which recently expanded by acquiring NIC and Everyman, and, as I recall, either writing or planning one or more books. So I was being a bit whimsical, because I have no idea what kind of rate would lure him into being someone's regular coach. I think you might need a few hundred sponsors. :-)
Problem is the pieces and board are too small for realistic standard chess game also the glass part of the board is somewhat vulnerable to breakage and off-putting.
Yeah the moving pieces part is awful for quick games ( Stjepan mentioned it) but the custom bot is nice (though not accurately mimics player). There was a board in India that solved the pieces problem but it was slow and Hella expensive.
So for someone like me that does not ever intend to play actual people online, would there be a better option than this board or would it still be worth purchasing this board and playing against the computer?
That depends. I think being able to create custom engines is what makes this one much better than others. I haven't tried many others though so I can't be sure.
Please upload vids where you play entire lichess games with this! Perhaps use in your road to 2500 series! I like seeing you think when you can't rely on arrows
Stjepan got tired of playing chess bots on Lichess, so he decided to take out the middle man 😅
haha

Hi, if I want to play a live game with my friend, can the board analyze the moves at the end of the game?
Interesting, I'm considering buying it. How does analyzing work? Could I use this board to prepare certain openings using just this board? Does it work with the licjess analysis Tab?
I guess so. Haven't had time to analyze much with it yet though.
I just got one of these myself about a month ago. Having lots of fun with it.
How are the engines you trained?

Yeah. I do most of my training on a physical board and play most games on one too. I can't stand staring at screens for too long.
@@HangingPawns Thanks for the response love your videos man. Glad you're getting notice from these companies for their products, good for you.
This looks really good. I'll probably buy one when I am richer and better at chess.
Don't really get it, can I play otb and the board saves the game, pgn or over a wabpage?
The board itself is like a phone or a laptop. It saves the games on itself.
Another sponsor. Let's hope you get enough so you can hire Jacob Aagaard as your coach. :-)

If only they could combine this with the Pro... make a "Pro+" with the built in Android and a tournament sized board/pieces. I have the Pro, BTW.

It's fine for anything slower than 20' per game I think. Great for 90+30 classical games which are the basis of my training.

This is no different than using a regular board and a cell phone. Unless someone comes up with a high speed, fully automated chess board, I'll pass.
