mate , i watched your previous video in sousse and i commented that you are right about a lot of things espcially the dirty stuff , but why would you come back to give more negative reviews and get more negative emotions from this city ? in this video most of the people were nice to you , the louage guy he thought you were on a hurry , you overreacted a bit there , after that about the energy drink SHARK it does cost 5 dinars ,FYI he wasn't giving the tourist price , and as a tunisian i should tell you , you have to be a bit nicer with your reaction like with the guy with the falcon , if he wasn't a nice guy who didnt understand what you said you would have had a bad quarrel right there , i undersrand you were eating and he brought a bird close to you , but you shouldn't have reacted like that and dont tell people to piss off ! be careful you might get yourself in a very bad situation

ahahah we spent a day there and I filmed it, not hiding how it is. The louage man deliberately walked us away from the SHARED louage we tried to take. The shark I didnt say was a tourist price I just didnt wanna spend that much on a drink thats 50p in England. The end is humour, we're English and have a laugh nothing but banter.

As a Tunisian I've never been to sousse , i see many negative comments from sousse people (they always say sousse is the best place in the country) maybe that's why they are triggered.but anyway targeting the poor places isn't great and ironically it's always the British who leaves negative reviews , you people should understand this is a poor country, we've been in an economic crisis for 12 years , bad people in places like sousse are very expected to be seen.

I am from Sousse and I feel really astonished and sad that you aimed at showing the bad side of Sousse. Sousse is also the beautiful beach and crystal sand, the thing that you forgot to show maybe. Sousse is also places like Khzema, the touristic road, port kantaoui. But as a tourist, I really don’t see the point of going to souk lahad, a place where a certain category of locals buy vegetables and fruits. You also pinpointed the worst side of the medina and a made blind eye to its beautiful side.
I am not going to deny the fact that alot of place have been ruined by trash etc but this does not hide the beauty of my city. Everyone was really kind to you, which was not your case, unfortunately. Next tome before visiting a new country, try to be more humble, more open to locals and not as hostile as you seemed with people.

I wanted to clarify a few points about the used clothes market and the local interactions you've experienced. In many Western countries, people donate clothes to organizations for charity. These organizations often choose to sell these clothes to third-world countries rather than donating them directly, which helps generate funds for their charitable activities. The clothes are then bought, cleaned, sorted, and sold by local vendors at markets like the one you visited.
Regarding pricing, vendors typically start with higher prices which you can negotiate down. It's a daily business routine, not just for tourists but also for locals. It's important to understand that these vendors operate on very small margins, so they try to maximize their earnings when they can. For instance, the price of tea at 2 dinars per cup is reasonable; while you might find it cheaper elsewhere, the difference may be minimal for you but significant for them. Locals often don't ask for their change back to support small businesses, as the vendors don't make much profit.
As for the Ralph Lauren pants priced at £2.5, locals would consider this a good deal without hesitation.
Regarding the cautionary advice you received everywhere, it's likely due to being in a non-touristy area where you might stand out as a potential target. Locals are genuinely concerned for your safety, which reflects their hospitality and care.
After watching your videos, it seems your experience, though challenging initially due to taxi issues in Sousse, isn't as negative overall. It seems that you prefer backpacking and discovering local places rather than visiting tourist spots, which might be why you didn't enjoy Sousse as much.
Perhaps the video title might have exaggerated things a bit. I'd love to hear more about the positive experiences you've had, like the free offerings and warm welcomes from locals. It's clear they're eager for you to enjoy Tunisia to its fullest. Wishing you the best for the rest of your trip and all it has in store!

Thank you for posting your Tunisia videos. They are the best out there and show the true kindness of the Tunisian people. I am American and have a small home in Sousse that I try to visit each year, so I want to stick up for Sousse as it's my second home. For families on vacation, it is a great destination as it is safe and convenient. Yes, you'll generally pay a bit more for things due to that, but there is a lot to see and do and the beaches and resorts are great. You will find many other travelers, usually Europeans, on vacation as well. Port el Kantaoui and the harbor are so much fun to visit. Sousse also has the very best shopping mall in all of Tunisia. The restaurants and nightlife are great. It's an absolutely wonderful town.
But... I completely agree with you from your perspective. It is not a good spot for hardcore travelers like yourselves. I just want to call out that the people in the video were quite kind and friendly to you, and I agree with someone's comment that the people who were telling you to be careful were just being overly cautious. I have learned that they hold safety of tourists, and foreigners in general, in very high regard and it's a shame to them if something happens. Most of what I have seen are petty, poverty related crimes, of which are not even very common.
Next time, be sure to visit Touzer, and you must go all the way through Kelibia to Haouaria!

@@EllisWR I heard the full hour, the videos is a reflection of your choices. You were bargaining with a guy at a local market for a sunglass at 0.5pounds your local money and he even went down to 0.25 and you still didn't take it? You can't even find that price in your country. He gave you the same prices he would give to a local. If you found that too high imagine what it is for a local that don't get paid in Pounds. Let me tell you, that was unconfortable to watch. Remember, nexr time you don't have to stop in Sousse, if that's not your choice and a mid way to somewhere else, you could have taken the louage or the Train and be directly there. Travelling is nice, don't get with locals realities if you can't understand it. For your reflection on the Medina filthiness , I hear them and you somehow right, but did you asked yourself how easy would it be to maintain them? Some streets are very narrow &long with small corners, do you think its an easy task for the municipality to go there and clean them every week? You passed by there twice, no sure why, but if you paid for the lowest price in town, again is part of your choice. There are plenty of very decent hotels at 40pounds a night, that would have avoid you all that discomfort, plus give you the time to relax and chill along the mediterranean sea.

I hate the fact that shops (and any other services like restaurants, beaches , etc... ) are destinated only for tourists and they use tourists prices of course , locals dont buy anything from them , and the worst part is when all the people of the city develop a "tourists prices technique"
i hate also the fact that no one is thinking how annoing is this for locals and tourists, and that this is not how touristic places should be !

When you travel to cities where the local economy doesn't depend on tourism and people are self sufficient you will feel welcome and people are helpful and honest.

Hhhhh you went to the poorest places in Tunisia where the abandoned houses and cheap markets of course even I don't like those places and I don't go there and I don't even know them except for the very poor who go there to shop hhhhh anyway they have to go back to work and improve the conditions of the abandoned houses in the old city and the streets and this is in all areas of the country because this will improve the character of the citizens and make them more flexible and comfortable. The truth is you don't know that the economic crisis and inflation in the country are the reason why some people cheat others. Their feeling that they have lost many of the luxuries that we used to enjoy in the past made some of them change and cheat others to provide all their needs and maintain the same standard of living that they were accustomed to before and with this I am against cheating or treating anyone badly no matter what the matter is. In the end, I am sure that the country's situation will recover and improve, and rich tourists will return to Tunisia again, contributing to the revival of the Tunisian economy once again.

@@EllisWR Dear don't tell me that people are very bad I watched the video and saw good and respectful people in Sousse and they treated you well almost all of them were good or at least normal in their dealings so I think you exaggerated a little in describing them as very bad although I do not deny the existence of bad people and this is something that exists in all countries of the world. As for the Tunisian economy, tourism in luxurious and wealthy areas is what helps the state and its economy because luxury companies are the ones who pay large taxes to the state and contribute to the entry of hard currency that stimulates the economy so the state benefits from luxury hotels and upscale tourist places. While when you eat in public places designated for the common citizen, you are consuming materials and food subsidized by the state (all goods are subsidized by the state in Tunisia, meaning that when a citizen buys bread, for example, he only pays half of its real price and the state covers the other half of the price of the bread. This is a simple example) and this does not serve the interests of the Tunisian economy. This is how the Tunisian state lives off tourism. We do not have oil or gas to secure our needs. Tourism and trade are essential to the Tunisian economy so that the state can provide for the needs of the common citizen. Do you understand what I mean now?

Tourism is the main income in many countries and in said countries they respect us. It's okay to admit it and improve, otherwise Tunisia will never be a well spoke of country.
We love Tunisia, just not Sousse and tourist holiday hotspots 🇹🇳❤️

Seems bad from your side , and about safety , also England is not safe 😉 we know .

Gonna say this again, you can try a Zarzis-Djerba double feature. Djerba's pretty tourist trappy but a lot less scammy and Zarzis is literally uncharted territory but it is beautiful hate it or love it. Both are surrounded by beaches on 90% of their territory so if you get annoyed at least you can go for a swim.

Well I was shocked when my eyes fell on the title but to be honest I really felt disappointed
I've got those same negative vibes while watching
It's not about the mess and misery but it's about the way of being treated like wallys as you said.. Although I'm Tunisian but I sometimes get scammed also you know especially when giving the impression of an idiot who doesn't know about the place they're visiting haha 😅 But what I like about you is that you're aware and you knew how to deal even with those ones that "jumped" in the video and interfered by answering silly questions
By the way.. Tunisia used to be better than that in the past even cleaner
Concerning what your friend said in the end I think other visitors reviews were not about normal tunisia, they maybe discovered touristic places.. eventhough still not Sousse the best in my opinion
Good luck and hope you enjoy your next trips
