I am SO glad you covered these games, cause, lemmie tell you, i still TO THIS DAY play the first Style Savvy game daily as if i run an actual boutique. It's SERIOUS. I've met all characters, maxed out my money, won all contests, collabed with all brands a million times. A girl walkes into the store? I can tell shes an AZ-USA fan. Another girl walks in? BOOM, have a Terra skirt. It's SERIOUS serious, it affects my daily life! I have all my friends categorized by their clothing styles and i have a chart as to what brand they would wear in the style savvy universe. Everyone i know is in this list, including their mothers. The little songs that play in the store with the abnoxious high notes? They live rent free in my mind.
the bit in the first game where you say that you can't specialize in a style, you have to branch out... it would be fun to have a game like this where you have to pick a specialty, and you get to see different storylines based on what kind of shop you are running, to encourage subsequent playthroughs
That would actually be hella fun, like your experience may change depending on the kind of store you have and what kind of style and it's branches you cater to, it could also be kinda like a slice of life where you have storylines that involve said style and you could also have your own love stories and friendship stories on your own time, so your not only seeing what kind of storylines you get based on what shop you have, you could also see like, Life as a Lolita, or Life as a Goth just to throw some examples out there, and to be able to play as either a woman or a man, or maybe a nonbinary person would be a very refreshing change, I would go futher and prolly want this to be like some magical esque thing but that's me and my brain is coming up with multiple ideas at once so I apologize for how this may come out sounding as I'm just piggy backing off your idea lol.
Gosh, can you imagine if this had an online multiplayer element where you could walk around servers of like, virtual harajuku/shibuya? I’d love to see us separated into ‘shopping malls’ where you could look at other people’s boutiques and decor and featured outfits
@ I would love it if all the styles were unisex and no matter gender or body type you can wear all the clothing items too! then running a shop for men's clothes wouldn't feel like a chore. (also, fem people in menswear is really good)
One of my bragging points is the I was in the top 20% of north American server players for Love Nikki. I got grounded for like a year and lost all my streaks and my epic tea house gang. I tried to rebound and just couldn't Edit: I grew up in a cult and had unreasonable punishments often
I also feel like you could still do the Camilia spiel. Like, it’s only one letter off, and it’s not like “Rosie” is named _exactly_ after her corresponding flower either. It could absolutely be intentional, and they just felt that naming them directly after their flowers was too on-the-nose.
The biggest difference in Fashion Dreamer's quality compared to the Style Savvy series might just be the lack of Nintendo as a publisher. I think the level of funding Nintendo can provide as well as the quality of feedback SynSophia might have gotten from them might have influenced the quality of the Style Savvy series a lot.
@@chiaraddd its a reference to an other video li made about the shopaholics series. Basically in some of these, alot of the english texte on the clothing attire was badly butchered. And there was indeed a shirt that had the word SMET on it. And so li made a reference to that.
style savvy was such a core game to me growing up it left a huge and permanent mark on my sense of fashion (AZ-USA fans where are you) so when this popped up I SCREAMED
I didn’t use the internet much as a kid so Trendsetters was actually my first (and most prevalent) exposure to punk and alt fashion, something I identify and dress ijnnow
I’m so glad people haven’t forgotten about this game! Style savvy used to have so much of a chokehold on me that my parents had to drag me away from the ds 😅
The funny part is that Alina's songs are +technically+ still dubbed. Kinda. They're sung by her english va, but they're still sung in japanese. maybe for stylistic reasons? Not sure.
what I would give to hear your thoughts on Infinity Nikki :') a deeply girly, feminine, glorious dress up game that is clearly built with such care and attention to detail TT it's been so healing to play !!
Same! It's actually a very queer series. Nikki is a confirmed lesbian, all the ladies arenlesbians, and the guys are either gay or aro/ace. Lots of trans and nongender characters too.
i would play it...if it weren't a gacha. i LOVE the style, but it definitely needs more skin tones, style variety, and less menu-ing for me to like it imo. The other side of the game is fun to walk around, but the story...feels hampered by the gacha. again, all my opinion!
I know this video’s going to appeal mostly to girls, but dangit, I’m a guy who played the crap out of Style Savvy when I was a kid. I was a little upset you could only play as a girl, seeing as, well, I wasn’t one, but I loved seeing my regulars come in, recommending clothes for them, customizing my shop, doing the fashion shows, it was fun! Never played the sequels, so I’m looking forward to seeing what later entries brought to the table!
0:23 I felt the same way, but you can hide the global chat AND there's a free play mode where you just make outfits for fun. Genuinely it's a very good dress up game for all the things you can do (just limited to one body type 💀) HOW did I miss these games as a kid??? I love dress up games so much and these look amazing!
Instant click! I was ADDICTED to Style Savvy when it first came out! I mean lolita fashion? In _my_ game? And I played the spin-off games for *AGES* and was so excited when Fashion Dreamer was announced. Like, I put it on my calendar and was ready to purchase and download ASAP. And it's fun! But, uh, I think they abandoned the game? IDK I'm literally one second in and sooooooo excited!!!
OMG, this is a massive coincidence that you talk about Style Savvy at the around same time as when I went to panel at this years MagFest where style savvy had an entire section for itself in said panel dedicated to girl games. 👀
I grew up with Style Savvy and I think it pretty muched altered my brain chemistry back in the days and created my interest in alternative fashion. Raven Candle, you will ALWAYS be famous
1:25 I find it SO FUNNY when men complain about Barbie horse adventures and then talk about how much they love RDR2... Like, as a horse girl who grew up to be a Horse Nonbinary Person and as someone who has played both RDR2 is just Barbie Horse Adventures with guns
The customer descriptions are one of my favorite parts of the game some of them have made me laugh out loud. They also add just the needed amount of characterization to the customers
i definitely agree with the criticisms of fashion dreamer. this game is like a huge heap of missed potential for a price way too high to be worth it lol. me and a friend bought and played the game together and agreed it was a $20 game MAX, not $60...crazy as hell though i enjoy just playing it as a "turn my brain off and listen to essay videos while my hands have something to do" type of game, otherwise it's just not at all very enjoyable as for the actual style savvy games, trendsetters is my bias but i never did get to play any of the others. this video definitely convinced me i should at least give them a try! probably styling stars more than anything else. i do admit i'm still holding out hope for a new mainline style savvy game (as i am for...sobs...tomodachi life 3...) but otherwise? at least we have a decent collection to choose from. lovely video :]
fun fact. michella from trendsetters appears in fashion forward as that mentor who was friends with your grandma and lets you unlock the designer feature and helps bring the chic store to the exhibition hall.... but you wouldn't know it as a north American because she was entirely redesigned for the europian release and they used the euro design for the localization of fashion forward! also what do you mean allina and melvin aren't explicitly dating? i must be remembering their entire plot wrong because i thought for sure they were bf/gf!
Ok so. Hear me out I think the reason style savvy fashion forward to me doesn’t really hit is I really enjoy the realism with the style savvy series. Ok I know it’s not too realistic but it techinally could happen like you applying for a job, not getting the shop right away, the money management being decent. Meanwhile with FF its way too try hard with it, like the whole “oh your whisked away and given everything you want easily” really puts me off. Also it’s unlock stuff (the color pallettes) hit bad to me I loved in the original you bring in a hairdresser into the mall and she slowly adds new styles and palettes on her own as you build up your own stuff, it feels rewarding. Like take my favorite game, styling star, you really really REALLY work to change your surroundings, you take a dying community and make it thriving and lively, meanwhile you get here and oh everything’s already busy and your just told “oh hey your already freinds with this doll girl because grandma”
The change to full on animal print outfit after talking about it is so iconic. (I say sitting here in my mix of animal print pants and an animal print sock XD)
I remember I had a cartridge (not even a game) that was literally just 100 public domain books you could read off your DS that took advantage of the “turn the DS sideways” gimmick. I wish they made more like that!
Growing up as a girl in the gaming community, there never really was a place I felt like I fit in. Whatever friends I made that were also "gamers" were into games like CS:GO, or GTA, or whatnot, which weren't really my thing at the time, and still aren't. There's always some sort of belief that you aren't a "gamer" unless you play xyz game, and it was a lot worse when I was little. It brings me a lot of joy to see other people talk about "girly" games 😭💖. I wonder if there's anything close to Style Savvy but somewhat "modern"!
Infinity Nikki is a dress up game that is free and currently really really big, I'm downloading it right now! It's not like Style Savvy in that you don't manage a store, though.
This game series was my childhood so I was smiling and geeking out through this whole video!! Always happy to see Style Savvy get its flowers - it’s such an underrated and under appreciated series so I’m sooooo glad you made this!! I agree with most of your points on the games, especially on the inability to date Dominic - that was my MAN Syn Sophia!!! And he was cute too! Why’d they do that to him in the sequel??? Also if you thought you were frustrated doing Rainbow’s color palette imaging being a tween with limited internet access unable to look up a walkthrough, the fact that I got most of it was dedication on my part. I also think Fashion Forward’s real game time system worked when I originally played it, as I felt like I got more out of the game *because* it was slower paced (this worked out when it would be awhile before a new Style Savvy game came out and I had a limited allowance for buying video games) but I definitely think for replayability it was lacking. Also I think there was a quasi-dating mechanic in that one where you could ask NPCs to hang out, but any implied romance would be your own inference (which I did all the time, cmon Syn Sophia make a new one with dating). Styling Star is of course the best one because of all your notes, I loooove the story in that one so much, I also enjoyed being able to mix and match hair pieces, being able to change bangs styles etc (the amount of times I’ve had to stop myself from bringing one of those hairstyles to my actual salon as a reference…) Obviously I am a huge fan that was so excited for Fashion Dreamer to come out only to be super disappointed. It just feels so hollow and empty compared to how alive Styling Star was - and none of the gameplay was satisfying like I felt like I didn’t have to actually do anything to get ahead, the only perk was the more modern styled outfit pieces, but I HATED how some were sets like way to ruin any re-usability since that blouse is permanently stuck to that skirt?? My ideal new Style Savvy/Fashion Dreamer game would essentially be a Styling Star successor, with new modern fashions and the return to the boutique system (also just imo a better thing for young girls to aspire to be a business owner rather than an influencer…) I think it’d be cool to add in more business stuff like paying rent on your boutique, actually paying employees, maybe even making expansions or franchising? And then have the expanded NPC storylines and maybe, just maybe, a dating element?? I love some subtext but cmon!!! I also felt like Fashion Dreamer just needed a stylus! It takes too long to use the joystick to move around just let me tap!!! Maybe Syn Sophia can take a gamble and make a more proper Style Savvy redux, or maybe a new company will take up the mantle, but at least we have a ton of fantastic games to still play, and we can listen to the soundtrack while working (the only way I can get through my day, damn these games for making me think styling people in random outfits was actually a viable career) thank you so much for this video it made my heart sing!!!!!!
I used to play Style Savvy with my twin brother ALL the time, it was our guilty pleasure that we never really felt guilty about lol. I’m so glad to see you covering the games! It makes me want to pull out my DS and get back to it again lol. Especially since Fashion Dreamer was such a let down! I got it thinking it would be way more like the Style Savvy games and was SEVERELY disappointed!
I love style savvy with my whole heart, Its been something I have ben hiperfixated (I have autism) since 2015 when fashion foward realeased,I already loved synsophia since they made another one of my favourite franchise (the pretty series arcade games and media), I remember wishing with my whole heart for a 3ds until I got one for my birthday like in 2020-2021, I bought them all before the eshop closed down and got a wagamama fashion girls mode copy later (I knew how to emulate but I love physical media and stuff), I love this franchise so much cuz of its charisma and lovely world, fashion foward it still my favourite cuz its the one that introduced me to the series,I loved this video with my whole heart like all your others!,they are so in depth and fun, they alwas cheer me up, so im really happy you talked about style savvy! by the way in the dlc section of fashion foward or trendsetters (i dont know wich) was missing the baby the stars shine bright dlc (a very famous lolita fashion brand)
rainbow is my mortal enemy, i played fashion famous as a kid and i still go back to it every once in a while and i have not filled out the whole color pallet. i even played a little while watching this :3
Had to resist the urge to shriek in delight when I saw the notification while I was at work!!! One of my fav video essayists about one of my fav series?! I played Fashion Forward and then Styling Star soon after when I was in college, around 2016 or so? I enjoyed the hell out of them and was also very annoyed at the dumb color thing. I also thought that was very stupid, but overall loved the game. The intro song for Fashion Forward also goes really hard!!! It's a bop. I found the original Style Savvy second hand and only remembered i had it recently. It was interesting to see where the series started but it was a bit too clunky for me. Might have to emulate Trendsetters now so I can have played them all!! Infinity Nikki intrigues me but around the time i played the Style Savvy games in college I got a lil addicted to the micro transactions in Love Nikki so for my wallet's sake I will probably stay away. Honestly love all you do Li and always look forward to your videos ❤❤❤
I was always curious where my fascination with vocaloid and voice synth came from, and when I started replaying style savvy I was surprised to hear a V1 meiko of all voices.
My most vivid memory of playing the og Style Savvy in my childhood was a late-night talk with a friend during a sleepover about there being a way to unlock marrying Dominic and honestly. Still wish I could. I never checked out the other games, I didn't even know they existed until now! Thank you for the in-depth look at all of them!!
21:20 fun fact!! April Bonbon is also technically based on another subset of gyaru, being Amekaji! its one of my favorite styles of gyaru because it's so colorful & nostalgic ❤
LETS GOOOOOOOOO style savvy has been a special interest of mine for a long time, typically my choice for going back and picking one out of the list has been fashion forward for the doll theming, but seeing styling star footage again makes me miss it so bad. im gonna start a new playthru tonight i think
Golly, I love this series so much. 💛 I own every single game. They're so fun, and while there are sometimes aspects or gimmicks I'm not into (the dollhouse), I always have fun with the main point, running the boutique. My favorite styles are the Lolita fashion-based ones (Baby Doll and Gothic)! Even when I'm forced to buy clothing outside of my preferred aesthetics, like Rock or Boho), I try to get stuff that keeps my cutesy, pastel vibe. I refuse to buy from the Basic brand on principle, because 'I ain't basic' (as I always thought when playing as a kid). 😤😂 I own Fashion Dreamer, too, and I'm still an apologist for it. It's cute for what it is, a simple dress up, design, and picture taking game that doesn't try to be more. I was just happy to finally be able to play as my male characters. I'm still hopeful for Style Savvy for the Switch successor, though!
REAL! I think people give Fashion Dreamer a lot of hate for just existing, like it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but people saying it's the game no one asked for is wild to me. Even though it lacks in features, the game still offers value, such as being a fashion game that isn't gacha, I like Life Makeover, SuitU and Love Nikki but they be getting me😭 I also really like the black hairstyles and have diverse clothing styles in Fashion Dreamer.
So glad to see you talk about the Style Savvy series!!! Especially because I haven't fully played all the games in the series (mainly Trendsetters and Styling Star). Fashion Dreamer made me so mad I started trying to make my own game like it (but 3D modeling is hard so that will not be playable for a min lol)
so cool to see a deep dive of this series! I started playing the first style savvy on emulator after I had to delete my fav fashion mobile game cause I have no self control with microtransactions and desperately wanted decent fashion game with out gacha. I've played to credits on the first one and actually just started a new save emulating on my 3ds, but I'll have to check out styling star now!
I only got into Style Savvy in 2024 since I never had a DS or 3DS growing up. Played the original for DS. The gameplay loop of buying clothes, dressing up customers in those clothes, and getting money to buy more clothes is so fun so addictive and I love it
Style Savvy was my very first DS game and i bought my Nintendo DSi as a bundle with Style Savvy. And it was pink! Best purchase ever! Still playing this game today
A very dumb fact about myself, my first fanfiction ever was about Dominic when I was like eight years old because I was pissed off that you couldn't date him. I also went through a daily routine of visiting his mansion about 70 times a day, hoping he'd be there 😅
I felt like I was going crazy when you said styling stars was the best and you were mad at fashion forward. I'm realizing that's because I have 34hrs in fashion forward but only 10hrs in styling stars. I totatally didn't realize there were other things to unlock so I ended up getting bored and going back to fashion forward. so glad I know now and I'm definitely going back to unlock more features. you're not even wrong about fashion forward being mildly infuriating I just wasn't aware trend setters had more to it than our weird uncle and a talent agency lol. Also I was so dumbfounded when I was making my way through the series with zero context and Suddenly we're in the edoll dimension. cool video as always definetly looking forward to whatever you talk about next : )
I opened up the comments and casually started reading this the second she started saying it in the vid it was weird having Li say exactly what I’m reading as I’m reading it
NOOO WAY I was just watching an old video of yours because I really missed ur content 😢 AND NOW THERES A 1 AND A HALF HOUR VIDEO OF YOU TALKING ABOUT STYLE SAVVY???? I've clocked so many hours in styling star, I literally play it every day before bed. I adore it. I think the character bios are HILARIOUS and I love imagining "new concepts" for the stages/performances, and the songs are so addictive. im literally so excited and thrilled for this video, THANK YOU for dedicating such a long video to this series 😭😭😭😭🙏
This was such an amazing watch! My first experience with this series was with Fashion Forward when I was a kid, and I regularly fought with my sister as to who got the DS to play it. It's legitimately amazing how well these held up, even now - they genuinely have so much respect for their audience and never dumb down anything, even though they're targeted to children, especially little girls. I come back to this series super regularly, especially Styling Star, I'm in the middle of a playthrough as we speak! I really wish this series got more attention, and more people appreciated the charm, surprising depth, humour, and iconic style (including the music!!) that it has. Thank you so much for making this video, I loved the whole experience!
This immediately gave me flashbacks of the TV plug-in game Dream Life and its associated sibling games. I'd love to see you dive into those. Your videos are always so fun to watch, a nice throwback, and educational at the same time!! Ty for what you do
I literally just found my ds last week and started playing this game again!!! You’ve read my minddddd!!! This game was soo special to me when I was little
STYLE SAVVY MENTIONED🗣️☝️WHATS A BAD FIT??!! WTH IS NOT SLAYING? But in all honesty no one ever talks about it! I love that this game didn’t treat you like a baby, you actually have to pay attention to details for the costumer to like your suggestion, not to mention the clothes are so cute I wish I could sew to realize them
I restart Styling Star at least once a year after like eight months of not playing since theres a new game plus mode, where the story can be restarted without losing any of your money or owned clothes. I may have transitioned (ftm) but i can't stop playing fashion games. Styling Star has some of the best gameplay and fixes all the issues i had with Fashion Forward. The mens fashion in Styling Star is still kinda mid unfortunately, but I do love it. I really hope we get a game like Styling Star for the switch eventually, or a successor for all platforms. Nikki getting a mainline boom as a full game instead of a mobile game makes me hope for more.
LETS GO NEW LI SPEAKS VIDEO ❤❤❤ Literally perfect timing. I needed a good long chill video I can just watch and not think about the state of the world.
OMG YES STYLE SAVVY!!!!! 💖 My cousin got the the first game for her DS and showed it me and I just had to play the game for myself. I have played every single game in the series and it now lives rent free in my mind. It makes me so happy to see that there’s a community of people who loves this series just as much as I do lots of love to all of you!!! ❤️
QUEEN I have been waiiiiiiting for a video from you and you come out with THIS ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE?!?!??!!? So worth the wait, like the way this game consuuumed my life at the ripe age of 7 lol
Very thorough review!! Maybe I'll check out styling star... You talking about the yuri reminded me of how insane I feel about Lola and Evie from trendsetters. I feel like nobody talks about it when it's right there. They're childhood best friends, they work together, and they're described as an "ex stylist and her ex model"... like an artist and her muse... idk i just kinda wanna know what happened begind those closed doors (lost her mind)
Dude ok i havent watched the video yet, but when i tell you i started freaking out bc i have been playing these games OBSESSIVELY after modding my 3ds i got for christmas . I love ur videos and i always wondered if you would make a video abt style savvy this s the best day evr honestly this series has made me want to really get more into fashion irl and have a little less fear of experimenting. I love fashion and looking at it but I am a masc/androgynous guy that doesn’t feel comfortable enough to dress up but making cute outfits in these games REALLY makes me want to lmao. Aside from that i am so fcking stoked to watch this vid later
Am only 2 minutes in but you already got me with the soundtrack playing in the background. I was OBSESSED with the style savvy for the DS when I got it with 7 x3 can´t wait to watch this video fully!!!!
I was JUST telling my coworker about your channel and somehow had a convo with that same coworker about style savvy the same day. Imagine my surprise seeing this; I felt like I manifested it LOL Great work as always. I love someone covering the same niche girl gamer stuff I grew up with. If you ever did a video about Cartoon Doll Emporium I’d love to see that!
I dont know if it will make you feel better about the Flower matching names with Rosie and Camilla is that Camilla means Chamomile in Hungarian and i think thats neat !
one of my favourite games as a kid as a baby goth and still now! because of it being called style boutique in the uk, i had no idea you were referencing this game when you mentioned it in the past.
I liked fashion dreamer. I dont think your being unfair to it at all. Your 100% correct about all of its critism. The only reason i like it so much is because when playing it. I dont have to think. And i like having my brain logging out while playing dress up.
You unlocked a CORE memory! I used to be up pulling mad hours on Style Savvy Trendsetters 3DS. I still think about it buying a 3DS just to play this again. Good to know others have shared the same experience ❤
LOVED this video!! I absolutely adore Style Savvy but i get so nervous reading or watching videos on it simply because of the weird stigma around fashion games but I knew i could trust your opinions. My personal favorite is Fashion Forward, it's the first one I played and I've been running the same boutique for over a decade, my customers may only get a visit once a month and i leave after 5 minutes to do the haircut side hustle but fashion forward is by far one of my all time favorite games. I have played a bit of the 1st game and tbh I think the art style of that one is also my favorite, it's so charming and I love how unabashedly anime moe some of the eye shapes are

I mean no offense by asking this. Are you autistic? Because I am and this sounds exactly like something I would do😭😭😭😭
Have you found any other game that scratches the same itch or will nothing ever replace it?
This is so cute 😭
I literally have been obsessed with style savvy fashion forward for like a year now I played it for 12 hours straight one day over the summer
omg this was me in high school!! az-usa😭🩷
I can’t believe Style Savy 1 made your implied love interest Light Yagami
Light Yagami??? 😭
…is it Light with the Death Note, or Light without the Death Note?
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING
the bit in the first game where you say that you can't specialize in a style, you have to branch out... it would be fun to have a game like this where you have to pick a specialty, and you get to see different storylines based on what kind of shop you are running, to encourage subsequent playthroughs

That's my first thought
I also feel like you could still do the Camilia spiel. Like, it’s only one letter off, and it’s not like “Rosie” is named _exactly_ after her corresponding flower either. It could absolutely be intentional, and they just felt that naming them directly after their flowers was too on-the-nose.

Me too!!!
@@sweetstacks3631 where was that confirmed? I haven't played any other Nikki game
You got me so excited to try it, then I look it up and find out it’s a gatcha game ;-;
You want a cookie? You want us to give you asspats?
@@machinegunlamentWhat's your problem? He's literally just saying he's a guy and liked the game.
You sound like you need a cookie lol
Me too ! This game literally built my identity growing up !!
@@machinegunlament Wtf? He's just saying he likes the game and happens to be a guy. You sound like you need a cookie lol
@@machinegunlament??? what a rude comment. bro was just sharing a nice memory. get that stick out ur ass and go play some dress up games
0:23 I felt the same way, but you can hide the global chat AND there's a free play mode where you just make outfits for fun. Genuinely it's a very good dress up game for all the things you can do (just limited to one body type 💀)
HOW did I miss these games as a kid??? I love dress up games so much and these look amazing!
my takeaway was that Alina could sing some songs in japanese because shes....a nerd? and that also includes being a weeb? I don't know.
BTW, great video tho!!
What!!!! Omg that is amazing, style savvy was my whole childhood…I hope they make a game for switch 2
@@m1dn1ghtcr34tur3 Yeah, that girl games panel was amazing!! Also, I agree an actual new Style Savvy for the switch 2 would be great.
A FELLOW HORSE NONBINARY PERSON! I LUV RED DEAD
arthur would love barbie horse adventure
The customer descriptions are one of my favorite parts of the game some of them have made me laugh out loud. They also add just the needed amount of characterization to the customers
i definitely agree with the criticisms of fashion dreamer. this game is like a huge heap of missed potential for a price way too high to be worth it lol. me and a friend bought and played the game together and agreed it was a $20 game MAX, not $60...crazy as hell
though i enjoy just playing it as a "turn my brain off and listen to essay videos while my hands have something to do" type of game, otherwise it's just not at all very enjoyable
as for the actual style savvy games, trendsetters is my bias but i never did get to play any of the others. this video definitely convinced me i should at least give them a try! probably styling stars more than anything else. i do admit i'm still holding out hope for a new mainline style savvy game (as i am for...sobs...tomodachi life 3...) but otherwise? at least we have a decent collection to choose from. lovely video :]
fun fact. michella from trendsetters appears in fashion forward as that mentor who was friends with your grandma and lets you unlock the designer feature and helps bring the chic store to the exhibition hall.... but you wouldn't know it as a north American because she was entirely redesigned for the europian release and they used the euro design for the localization of fashion forward!
also what do you mean allina and melvin aren't explicitly dating? i must be remembering their entire plot wrong because i thought for sure they were bf/gf!
Ok so. Hear me out
I think the reason style savvy fashion forward to me doesn’t really hit is I really enjoy the realism with the style savvy series.
Also I have no idea if this was just me
But the faces are really damn ugly in FF like it’s the teeth, I think they updated it
The change to full on animal print outfit after talking about it is so iconic. (I say sitting here in my mix of animal print pants and an animal print sock XD)
I remember I had a cartridge (not even a game) that was literally just 100 public domain books you could read off your DS that took advantage of the “turn the DS sideways” gimmick. I wish they made more like that!
that hime cut is so fierce
Growing up as a girl in the gaming community, there never really was a place I felt like I fit in. Whatever friends I made that were also "gamers" were into games like CS:GO, or GTA, or whatnot, which weren't really my thing at the time, and still aren't. There's always some sort of belief that you aren't a "gamer" unless you play xyz game, and it was a lot worse when I was little. It brings me a lot of joy to see other people talk about "girly" games 😭💖. I wonder if there's anything close to Style Savvy but somewhat "modern"!
if you have a switch try model debut nicola!! its basically exactly what you're after
Infinity Nikki is a dress up game that is free and currently really really big, I'm downloading it right now! It's not like Style Savvy in that you don't manage a store, though.
Oh my heavens the Smet shirt is everything
oh i LOVE style savvy ive got fashion forward and styling star on my 3ds and im so glad ppl still talk abt it
Calling Fashion Dreamer its cousin is HILARIOUS. 😆
I genuinely can’t play it anymore because of its lack of a dark mode.
hearing the shoutout to Infinity Nikki was so exciting because I'm OBSESSED with it. Truly brought me back to dress-up games in general.
Ive been wanting to try these for ages, and now that you've told me THE mother Meiko is in it, its a settled matter
I got it thinking it would be way more like the Style Savvy games and was SEVERELY disappointed!
omg is this about fashion dreamer bc i have words
THEY CAN NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU STYLE SAVVY
14:13 MEIKO mention!🗣️🔥
I own Fashion Dreamer, too, and I'm still an apologist for it.
OH WE’RE SO BACK
i've never even heard of style savvy, I just enjoy well-crafted video essays, and you're always fun to watch! Rococco is a genderfluid icon now
1:21:02 this is the most clear example in a video game of your mom making you put a jacket on over your halloween costume
seeing you talk about this on twitter for month i somehow had no idea this would turn into a video! amazing as always.
I also went through a daily routine of visiting his mansion about 70 times a day, hoping he'd be there 😅
I've been hyperfixated (not using that word lightly) on the style boutique series since I was seven years old, I'm so excited to watch this 😭😭
I felt like I was going crazy when you said styling stars was the best and you were mad at fashion forward.
55:10 "Despite the fact that I'm usually hunting for yuri in places none can be found" Girl you just described my life's story.
I opened up the comments and casually started reading this the second she started saying it in the vid it was weird having Li say exactly what I’m reading as I’m reading it
Thank you so much for covering Style Savvy!!! ;o;
I was binging your videos the last couple days! I feel blessed getting a new one, how serendipitous!
Thank you so much for making this video, I loved the whole experience!
this channel is my comfort internet zone, love everything you do li! mastery for the minds of ex-flash girlies
This game was soo special to me when I was little
I just checked her channel a few days ago and thought we were due for another one sooner or later 😭 she makes the best cozy videos
Mother Li has blessed us with a new video!
Thank you for covering this! This was one of my favorite Nintendo games as a kid!
YESSS THE QUEEN RETURNS
I found the DS version three months ago in a rural game shop. I cannot believe you have a video on it now! I luv this game and ur content omg
LETS GO NEW LI SPEAKS VIDEO ❤❤❤
Literally perfect timing. I needed a good long chill video I can just watch and not think about the state of the world.
13:52 lol omg thats why I love style savvy's music so much, it does give persona 3 vibes which is my fave vid game of all time 😭💕
OMG YES STYLE SAVVY!!!!!
Not the lil' finger wave your character gave at 27:41! She saw that result and was like "Uh-UH, y'all need to run that ALL the way back!"
LI SPEAKS MADE A STYLE SAVVY VIDEO!!! I'm so sat for this
YOU WENT OVER STYLE SAVVY AHHH I HAVE STYLING STAR!!! IM SO HAPPY RN
I love ur videos and i always wondered if you would make a video abt style savvy this s the best day evr
honestly this series has made me want to really get more into fashion irl and have a little less fear of experimenting. I love fashion and looking at it but I am a masc/androgynous guy that doesn’t feel comfortable enough to dress up but making cute outfits in these games REALLY makes me want to lmao. Aside from that i am so fcking stoked to watch this vid later
Please never apologize for finding lesbian subtext, you are our most powerful yuri warrior
oh my GOD i’m still obsessed with this series
the style savvy subreddit is very active and will be happy to welcome you all ❤
Am only 2 minutes in but you already got me with the soundtrack playing in the background. I was OBSESSED with the style savvy for the DS when I got it with 7 x3 can´t wait to watch this video fully!!!!
This... this is so beautiful I started crying I FUCKING LOVE STYLE SAVVY 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Li Speaks is back!!!!!!! I love your videos so much :D
I was JUST telling my coworker about your channel and somehow had a convo with that same coworker about style savvy the same day. Imagine my surprise seeing this; I felt like I manifested it LOL
Great work as always.
AN HOUR AND A HALF VIDEO ON MY FAVOURITE VIDEO GAME FRANCHISE EVER?? AM I DREAMING!!?
I may be a masculine trans guy who hasn't been a girl in a good 10+ years, but I still watch Li's videos all in one sitting
I love the hime cut on you!
