What we actually need is a breakdown on insurance coverage from all suppliers (Not just associations) that tells us WHAT they cover in more detail. Like revocations, criminal allegations resulting in licence problems, Mental health diagnosis/issues resulting in the same, refusals on application, refusals to permit specific firearms on tickets, etc. Since BASC dropped all of that we as a community have been shit out of luck if we need support.
@@joelhall5124 yeah, but a lot simpler given there are only a handful of providers. As it is right now through I'm quite sure there is not 1 provider that will help if you get your ticket revoked due to a diagnosis
@@specdel fair point. But BASC didn’t even fight over lead. We know lead is poisonous, but there is no evidence of anyone dying from lead poisoning in food. The EU list on poison food, I know we’re no in the EU anymore. Lead isn’t even in the top 20. They all go on about evidence and fact based decisions with the likes of Wild Justice etc. but they didn’t do that with lead.
@@cameronduveax282 Well I’m with you on the lack of evidence and (by the way) as a teenager I regularly went shooting with an air rifle with a pocket full of pellets and half a dozen in my mouth for quick reloading! When the ones in my pocket made my hand grey with lead dust I would lick the hand clean. I have my 74th birthday next month.
NRA offers the same game & vermin shooting insurance as BASC and did not throw their membership under a bus over lead. I voted with my feet. Merry Christmas all.

Some members of BASC are forced to be members by small print and/or conditions of where they shoot. I left but was forced to rejoin or loose the only rough shooting I have. So how many members do they have by choice and how many by force?
Thanks for this Charlie. I am in BASC and GWCT. I have insurance through both. I personally believe that everyone that shoots or fishes should be in one of the "political" (BASC, CA, etc.) or working groups (NGO, SGA, etc.) and GWCT. The science the GWCT provides is priceless when it comes to saving our sport and promoting what we do through scientific, peer reviewed research. They also run 2 farms which employ people, turn a profit, promote conservation through habitat and best practice and.... run shoots on them. I was in the CA and BDS as well as BASC and GWCT but I left the CA due to Tim Bonner's "shut up and do what you're told" rant after being criticised over the lead surrender and I dropped the BDS after they joined the pile-on of Niall Rowantree, BASC member benefits are good, even if they were supine over the wetlands lead ban in the last century and dropped their knickers in 2020 on the "voluntary ban" (cough, cough: how do you have a voluntary ban?) on lead this time round. Not the principle as much as the way BASC sold the message. Which was moronic. 😖
