Just got my 50 th win Pete you’re the fucking man ! I had like 8 before I started watching your videos, literally I was like 8 and 220, ffa 65 and 335 now man thanks ! On 150 hours played, if you can’t tell I used to quit a lot of games lol 😂, but I’ve been patient and leaned to fight back from a losing position thanks to you my friend
I dont think capitals are as important as getting bonuses on this map in early game....you end up having to split bonuses onto 3 caps you have 3 weak caps with 7 or 8 troops on them...yesterday I got down to 3 locations with one on each no capital and still won the game due to cards and kills
Having watched a fair few of these games from different streamers, this is increasingly my perception as well. That second, or god forbid third, capital almost always ends up as a stone around the player's neck with them having to devote the majority huge portions of their forces to defending those caps while other players snowball. I've seen Pete win a lot of games in which he took multiple caps, but he almost always feels like he's playing from behind for a lot of those games expressly because of the cap focus.
I fully agree Even on the classic map, progressive capitals, if you can steal another capital early it’s fine to do so, but at some point you should just abandon whichever is worse, because someone WILL hit it And in the Europe map, things snowball/spiral so quickly, I don’t think it’s worth trying to hold disconnected capitals whatsoever
Watched your stuff and it is always great! Thank you. Only one comment. "It's not quality ideas that stand on their own, but useable ideas" and people will pump tremendous resources and energy and devotion into the ideas that will serve them. Thus bad ideas garnished with tremendous support can also reign, sadly. A well designed house will stand better on its own, but a house that serves a purpose will get more resources attending it.
As to the cost of the game, Risk is timeless and for the like $20 bucks (at high end) for premium it will be something that you can come back to every year. Its well worth the money/almost donation to keep playing for years. As for the game, yet another entertaining game Pete.
I think i got it in a bundle at the time with some in-game money to get emotes etc.. As of right now Steam has base Premium for $7 USD on sale for a lifetime/Premium. Keep in mind that sometimes one time/lifetime buys can be changed, but in this case i doubt it. Really the only bonus it adds to it is the ability to play is unlimited plays everyday. @@seansoccer100
Yeah in this case it’s pretty whatever. In some games there are pay to win skins, but you can only get them through loot boxes, so you are left spending an indeterminate amount of money. That’s the practice that should be criticized, not an inexpensive direct purchase
32:15 While White's troops look pretty random, I think that some of these are from a +2 on territory when trading in a set. Others could be from leftover troops when attacking some territories in a row and taking a troop split earlier, causing a few troops to be left behind in a dead end (because when splitting, you can't fortify both leftover armies). So it could also be that just his/her fortifies were not optimal.
@@FreePeteI agree, I just thought that these random troops were less random than they appeared to be. And if these troops did indeed come from a +2 on a set, the only "poor" play for that specific aspect would be, he/she didn't fortify them at some point. But yes, later on the white player did not make the best moves. I agree on that.
That happens to everyone every now and then, he also emoted so lucky kind of implying HE messed up instead of him not knowing, also the cap run was way too risky without sniping, you have to remember that green had not seen any of whites caps in the last like 4 turns, we dont know how much white lost on the green cap but still a really risky play that almost noone would go for, that being said its impossible to know for sure.
Whatch again from 41:42 Green lost his Britain cap to white (and saw the fortify) or was slammed by nearly all of these troops (and he still saw the fortify). Green was attacked again by white, he also saw Pete went after him. He saw how many troops Pete lost at Gascony. So take Gascony, check Italy.....It's not that difficult to know about the size of white's caps ;-)
All you do for emotes is play the game for a few weeks and get the emote you want when it's low price of about 100 gems because of the 2 free gems you get a day
I wish the fistbump came with premium tbh, got premium and some map packs a while back during the sale but don't have any emotes. Don't have amazon prime so couldn't get the free ones from a while back (although I have your dice because when I first started playing risk was I think their second drop giving them for free, before I knew of your channel). Considering you don't need premium to play also I feel fistbump and thumps up in a style more like the free emotes we do have would be beneficial. It lets you communicate giving thumbs up w/o alliances which is especailly key because of the fog no alliances meta. I wouldn't go so far as calling it pay to play, but I do think that some variation on those two emotes should be very easy to get. Like gem wise, you can get 2 free a say, so if they had a version for 20-30 gems each then it's very achieveable for someone not playing to get them with a reasonable amount of play time. (another comment says 60 days of activity in the game gets fist bump for free but idk, don't think I've reached that yet)
i am going to pay for emotes, the fist bump i think is useful but the thumbs up or a way to communicate that you are happy with another players move is essential to being able to effectively communicate with other players well. It’s not pay to play but with noobs showing then that you are happy with them can put them off there edge. all the free emotes do not have a good emote to show that you are happy imo
I recognise those settings I recognise those Blizzards (I think) I recognise those Avatars Holy smokes am I in a Pete game!? Alas no. 😢. Next time Baby!
Pete I like the fact that if you like the game you should support it by playing a couple dollars but to get quite a few emotes (which are equivalent of about 2 - 4 US dollars each) It starts to stack up and for people like children or people that don't have 2 bucks to spare on a video game for something that changes how the game is played like the fist bump emote I do not like that It costs stuff. I am not in any way saying that it should be free just that maybe for some emotes that are really influential to the game, like the fistbump there should be a free alternative
The Thanks! works just fine, and having bounced around top 50 all this season without purchasing any emotes I feel reasonably sure I can say none of them are really pay to win.
I got the fist bump for 120 gems. Had to buy 450 gems for $7.50nzd to get premium and had 130 gems left for the emote. Premium was at 50% off discount from when you download the game and i got a 74% discount after playing 50 solo games. Think that was as cheap as I was guna get it 😂 Definitely not pay to win but I kinda get what he means though, if you're playing for free you can't fist bump anyone which can be critical.
19:00 I payed what this game was worth. The fact that they made sure we cannot communicate in a game that requires communication is a design flaw. Then forcing me to pay more for a tiny fix in the communication PROBLEM that was designed into the game is just bad game design that pisses us off. I paid for the game already, I'm not giving them more money for a DEEPLY flawed design simply because they believe they can nickle and dime us to POORLY fix the game flaw design THEY made. So no Pete, it's not "just $2". Let's say I make a game that has inventory space. The game requires 20 spaces of inventory just to move around normally. You literally have 15 items that are necessary to move around and 5 spaces for gear. Let's imagine I SELL THIS GAME and people buy it the way I bought Risk. Now let's say I'm a greedy bastard. I know you need 15 inventory space just to move in my game so I limit your inventory space to 5. Now you have to walk back and forth 3 times to progress just to pick up the items you need to progress, then you walk back 1 final time to get your combat items. I then sell you an inventory PROBLEM fix. A PROBLEM that I created. I sell you 5 inventory space for $2.50. This is scummy as hell. Not only did that 5 inventory space cost extra money on top of you buying the game for me, that 5 inventory space didn't even fix the PROBLEM, it just made the PROBLEM slightly less of an issue. This game has deep flaws that anyone of us could EASILY fix. Some of us would require a programmer while others would just program it themselves. Either way our community could fix the many glaring PROBLEMS that plague this game. We already bought this game so we wouldn't have an "energy mechanic" which is beyond fair. But nickle and diming us for emotes to lesser the PROBLEM of communication is just bad. We need to be able to speak with each other.
It's odd to me how much this problem is being exaggerated compared to the fact that new players play at a speed handicap, the ranking system is broken and the dice algo is broken. All three of those seem like things that are WAY more worth getting your panties in a bunch about over whether or not you're willing to pay two bucks for a fist bump bro. We agree that the game is seriously design flawed. If you care about that what can we do to make it better?
19:20 I like your opinion about supporting games but I'm in a country that I can't do that ( it's expensive 2 dollars here is 100 thousand toman) If you wants to know where am I I'm in Iran, I love my country but not the government
Somewhat religiously knowledgeable viewer here. The answer to the Antichrist question is that yes, people would follow the antichrist and no, most wouldn’t revolt. Even many who call themselves Christian. From the biblical texts, the apostle John refers to both the plural antichrists and the singular Antichrist. The plural refers to any false prophet. The singular refers to a satanic being who is the culmination of all things evil; the literal antithesis to Christ. Much like how Satan promised Jesus any earthly desire he could want, the Antichrist would have the same ability but would use it to gain worldly power and persecute those who follow Christ. Finally, the Antichrist would be defeated by the army led by Archangel Michael as prophesied in the book of Revelation.
You often touch your nose after a kill or taking a cap. I’m not psychology expert but I’m sure that’s a sign of pride and accomplishment but also guilt.
19:11 I don't feel I am entitled to free stuff, and I am perfectly willing to pay for my games. But a game that profiles itself as free should actually be free, if the game is a multi player game and you have to pay to be competitive then that game is not free. I have no idea how significant the emotes are for ability to communicate and have no position on if emotes make risk pay-to-win.
Ehh "it's only a dollar" is a fairly disingenuous argument (probably the wrong word because I doubt you made it maliciously). It's not that emotes are "too expensive", it's that players are given an advantage based upon how much they spend on the game. Sure, to you or I it might be "worth" the entertainment we've received from this "free" game, but on someone's first game they are put immediately at a disadvantage, and having to pay even a cent for a strategic advantage is pretty sketchy, especially when it comes to kids. Risk is probably on the more acceptable side of the 'grey area' on this, but it's definitely toeing the line with the emotes.
I'm not a game person so I don't know how it's treated in gaming. One of my accounts I play on most of the time doesn't have any fist bumps and the winrate is comparable so perhaps the idea that it's pay to win is mostly in that person's head. I don't know perhaps this is a better argument...
