Hearing them live playing these new tracks along with the older ones, it all feels Thornhill. I'm confident this album will be great and I'm loving everything I'm hearing so far.
To be honest, if the title of an album is Heroine, and you have singles named Casanova or Hollywood, then a sound like Arkangel, you can be pretty sure this album is going to be a groovefest. The groove on this one was super sick, really looking forward to the album.
What a wacky track. This was all over the place, and then between Ethan's singing part and the switch back into the heavy was such a gnarly transition. Being such a fan of The Dark Pool, the new material is gonna have to grow on me, but it is so unique. Like you said, nothing else really sounds like this. Can't wait to see what we're in for on June 3rd.
To me, the dark pool probably can't be topped for the sound they were bringing to the table. This album feels like an admission by the band that they felt like there wasn't more to do in that vein and they're trying to explore different sound scapes in homage to alt rock of the 90s. I still hear artistic similarities in the underlying composition, it's just not leaning on metalcore as the baseline to form the songs. If anything I think metalcore is just a component on all the singles so far.
As you were saying, I think anyone who's still surprised by Thorny's direction with this album is just going to keep being disappointed 😅 As much as I wish it were, I don't think this album is going to place super highly for me end-of-year. This song has a lot of very cool things going for it - I really love the instrumentals here, and Ethan's vocals were really surprising in a great way! Hope he features on more of them. However, the way I feel about the song overall is more of a compromise - do the parts I like outweigh those that I do not? And I've felt that way about all the singles so far. There's been no one song that I've been obsessed with like TDP, and that's fine! It's just not really for me. Like you mentioned, I'm glad they're doing their own thing - I can't say any other band is doing this exact flavour of heavy music. I still have my complaints, mainly with the vocal mix (sorry luv u George), but I'm still going to give the album a fair shot and see how it all sounds as a whole.
This is by far the best single next to Hollywood. I'm all for this change. It's not like the old thornhill is dead. They'll still perform a bunch of TDP songs live. Can't wait til Jun 3rd!
Great song musically but I am super distracted by the super distorted vocals. I hope I can get used to it for the new record. Also how to I suggest song reactions? I would like to suggest Unprocessed - Dinner is there a google form etc?
Oh yeah. Actually kinda sounds like they bit off Gumshield pretty hard on this one, but I love Don Broco and I can't stand this new sound from Thornhill. I know they're trying new things but this doesn't work for me.
Its okay, only thing that bothers me is i want TDP live because I never saw them and now they're getting replaced by songs like this, just doesn't hit the same as like Lily and the Moon🥲

They did a wall of death in casanova and i was blown away, the song i love the least by them but live it's super heavy

I liked the music video Jacob directed it and did the set design as well.
This was quite easily my favourite of the singles. I personally didn't enjoy the vocals on the other tracks but they hit for me on this track!
Def. my favorite single so far, and...probably the only one I really connected with on 1st listen hehe but thats just me... anyway noice going Thorny!
