You did a nice job. ...and the rifling in the bore seems excellent for an old surplus rifle..hardly fired it seems...The take away is that once you clean these up its sometimes a good buy..... World hello Ya Hunters Lodge has the good deals but it seems there is something you gotta fix on any rifle you get. you know i kinda like that... lots of rust some times not. I just ordered a 1943 Spanish Main Battle Rifle hand select from them. I will make a video on that soon. Also it seems like it takes for ever for them to ship it out. I have two of these 1916 Spanish Mausers in two different calibers. You got a really nice one and you made it really nice by cleaning up that stock. That bore is close to not being fired so really a good deal for any rifle 80 yrs old. I subscribed to your channel after you looked at mine. Just made another purchase today from RTI Today a WW2 Inland M1 Carbine it will take 2 to 4 weeks before I get it because of Hurricane Ian in Florida.
Hi Larry you know Hunters Lodge has 1916 Spanish Mausers and 1943 8 MM Mausers for $98 right now. I bet there rusty but that is what i like as a project.
@@RUSTYSURPLUS Yes I went to their site and yes they do have a lot of rifles and cheap but I can understand why they just stock pile them and you get to fix them up because they don't want to waste their time. where I bought my rifles at RTI they do restorations of rifles and do check them out if you want to pay the price. But I bought an Original ww2 M1 carbine collector grade cost $1299 but it was a decent Inland carbine and most are going for $2500. But I have more money than sense lol
Larry check out my M1 carbine collection. also none of my carbines came from RTI i got mine from pawn shops and Gun broker. the carbine prices have come way down in the last 8 months. Larry from Hunters Lodge you can get some really good deals there, call up JAMES over there and talk story with him if you want to buy one of there rifles. They have many differnt grades of rifles to. They have parts for every rifle they sell too. I have just ordered one of there $98 rust specials 😁I look in the FIREARMS NEWS for there add's. Did you do anything to reinforce the front barrel band spring where all the wood is rotted out? My dad's is all rotted up there like yours and nothing supports that spring, so the front band won't stay on. Pretty sure same goes for the rear band spring, the wood just got oil soaked and busted away so those springs don't have any force against the bands to keep them in place.

I have ordered several old rifles from them and have had good dealings with them every time. Keep in mind they never are in a hurry it took several months but the prices beat the competition and they were always really nice and polite to me when we talked and I always got what I ordered.
