The Best Way to Carry a Rifle on an ATV

  • I have tried many different ways of carrying my rifle on my quad, and this is the best way in my opinion. I believe it to be the best because it is the safest for the rifle whilst being easily accessible and convenient to carry. I do not think that there currently is a perfect product for this purpose but this one checks the most boxes for me, so I thought I would share with you.
Welcome to Traplines and Inlines, this channel focuses on my dog and I on our remote Off the Grid Homestead in Northern Canada. I make videos on off grid homesteading and building, trapping, chickens, mechanical projects, and hunting and fishing.
I went offgrid and started building my cabin over two years ago, while I was still in highschool. Since then I have built many things at the homestead and have had the priviledge of learning many things along the way.
The homestead is designed to be relatively low maintenance and with extremely minimal expenses. All of my electricity comes from solar power, heat from woodstoves, and I haul all my water so I dont have any monthly costs associated with my homestead.
I love the lifestyle, especially because it gives me the absolute freedom to do whatever I please. I plan on continuing to tackle awesome projects and work at building and fixing many more things, and I cant wait to share them with you on the channel.
    Thanks for watching!

I totally love that it's your unbiased and only your own opinion I've been watching your videos now for I'm guessing two years. I know you don't talk government stuff but we're on the same page there too. I love your videos keep them coming. If I was on a quad or snowmobile my gun of choice would be open sites. Put it in a safe location that don't get rattled around. Was the scope you're only had in difficulty if it gets wet or dirty. I'd also carry a pistol if I was you 357 or better. Love your show you are a hard-working son of a gun. There's not many of you left in this world I happen to have a protege who just turned 19 been working 6 months for me and he's all about buying tools LOL. He's a good kid works super hard and is there every day! I'm a gassing I'm about 30 years older than you but you and my protege sniff the same air. It's good to see some people in the younger twenties or younger to take charge and prepare for life. I don't know many of you and as we speak you are one and so is my produce a. Keep up the good work please keep the videos coming I know their time consuming but I don't know many your age that do what you do. And I'm scared that TH-cam and a few others will eventually take you off the air go f*** their hearts. I love your contact keep it coming. God bless and God help our planet!

I have 2 sets mounted on my 4 wheeler. They are both set up fore and aft (outboard) on my front rack. Does not get in the way of steering or side brush. I carry my rifle (on the right) in a soft case with a bungee around the front of the case. Helps keep the dust and rain off the rifle. I use the left side for a .22/shotgun or shooting sticks. They are very versatile.

Agree 100% mine rattled itself to death. I now like a narrow plywood box mounted on the front with a U-shaped notch in each end. With the rifle in a soft case lay it in the box with case open. I find that easy to grab the rifle quickly.I use the kolpins on the back.

The case is for foul weather, rain/snow.. keep an extra beanie in it to keep it from rattling. Also mount it on the front rack, so you can pull it while on the bike... on the back rack it's not very accessible from the seat. I have both, the clamps work great too, but having a rifle mounted sideways will get caught on branches and whatnot in the bushes....New subscription here. .... I dig the vids... keep it up....

Nice setup on your quad mate. Good to see you are doing well. If you can get a set of scope covers or flip up scope ends it will keep all the dust and shit out so if you need to use it quick it will be clear. If you use your shirt to wipe the glass it can scratch the lens. If TH-cam permits let us see any results from hunting

Missed you bloke good to see back...love your way of life my man minimalist existence with no bs do everything yourself living life on your own terms...not pretending you are something you ain’t...keep up the good work bloke god bless stay safe man...when you need a gun in hurry it has to be readily available at hand to protect yourself from imminent danger or a quick opportunistic kill....a future vehicle investment would be a side by side six wheeler bloke it’s well suited to your way of living and the terrain you live in, is that in your plans as a future necessity? Also what is your rifle chambered in bloke?

Is there any way you can move one mount forward on the bar and the other mount back toward you, so your gun will be sort of at a 45 degree angle, thus reducing the width so the muzzle end of the rifle isn’t sticking out as far? I know when I ride, that would be collecting and hitting all kinds of shit. May have to modify the clamp but may be worth a look.

  • @deernutOO
