We are new to ATV’s having just ordered a Polaris 570 Touring and we’re looking for information on what to carry. Really appreciate you taking the time to make this video. Very thorough and very helpful to somebody like us. Thank you! Cheers from Ontario
Good video. For me the number one is tire plugs. I helped a friend fix a big gash in his tire with plugs and a compressor. We were 100 km from home. He rode on it for months 👍
I carry a quart of oil incase of a roll over. If the bike sits upside down for a period of time the oil will slowly drain out. Also, if you have a diff seal go out, you have a little oil to put in to get you home.
Great video, but there is one thing I never leave home without. I have a pair of Garmin Rino 750 GPS's .I know they are expensive but with the two way radio and the ability to pinpoint your partners location. imo they are well worth the money. I always take one and leave one with my wife at home just incase I don't make it home and I always let her know what area I'm exploring. Happy trails everyone.
Good stuff .. i have been riding atv sxs since the 3 wheeler days of 1980s. Just some suggestions a multi tool a map and compass .prefer 1:24k maps can of soup can of fruit and can of spam and 2 hd 50 gal trash bags .and a Water filter (life straw).... Its called a shackle and get another 50 foot min 100 better of atv 1/4 in winch rope rated at 5k lbs. In my sxs i have tons more room and more pockets so i can carry more like 2 wool blankets 2 tarps and a hammock
I’d suggest two things to add:1. A short handled garden spade with a solid handle, because even with a winch, sometimes digging around the tires is needed. Mine is a Cold Steel brand Spetsnaz shovel that also has a sharpened edge for chopping. 2. A water resistant spark plug protector for the spare plug, especially if you carry in that rear compartment. A rusty spark plug will do you no good! Otherwise, very well thought out presentation!
@@JoshuaGammon In the US the Zap Straps as you called them are called Zip Ties. I also never heard of a Zap Strap. I guess he was just teasing because of the different term. Thanks for the video.
I would also suggest a collapsable shovel of some sort, comes in handy more than you'd think. Maybe some sort of water purification, in case fire isn't an option, Lifestraw's are cheap and work well, as do the little tablets. A small tow strap is a good thing to have as well, in case of a breakdown by you or someone else you may be riding with/encounter.
i keep a come-a-long, some chains and a tow strap just incase i ever need to recover my ATV and my winch fails or i need to move/lift something that i can't get my Winch to.
Bike. Canadian. Also, Amazon basics batteries absolutely suck. I would highly recommend dumping those immediately and get something worthwhile. Overall though, good stash of gear on your quad/ATV/4-wheeler/bike.
If you go solo like I do a lot. Make sure you have the gear for a night. Machines can break down and you can be a lot further in the woods than if you had walked in. Never happened to me yet, but lots go out thinking I'm just going for a rip and don't take anything.
Nice video. This reminds me of some of the things I would keep in my jeep when I go out of town to the city. When I was single one thing I would keep on hand was ear plugs and nose plugs. Oh you ask why???? SCREAMING women and burning rubber yeeee haaawww!!! 🤣 😂
Great video Joshua, I have a Sportsman 570 it's my third one actually.i carry al ost the same things on my bike all the time, the only difference is I have two dry bags that I keep socks a shirt and pare pants just in case.s
Seems like big spray would be good to pack at all times. When things break in a wet area, bugs are lovely when trying to fix a bike. Its like they know you are fu*ked.
Hey buddy, great kit ! I'd say you pretty much have everything covered ! Maybe bring some Toilet paper haha b/c you can only sacrifice two socks.... then your feet will get cold haha
nenannah-zonayla-trick This was great, thanks, I have been researching "suggested emergency kit items" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Nenannah Zonayla Trick - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )? It is a smashing exclusive guide for surviving a disaster without the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my brother in law got cool success with it.

Too bad you cannot add a hand gun especially out in Canada wilderness. I know gun laws are different, here in Idaho you can almost carry any weapon for personal protection.
A gun would be nice. But I really never came into a situation were I thought I needed one in the woods. Maybe in a big city a few times though. Feel safer in the woods.
The black device you did not know the name of is called a “snatch Block” 👍🏼
Thanks Stephen

I agree. That's always on my ATV. Used a few times on old railbeds.
@@JoshuaGammonGreat video which will help a lot of people. Thoughts on installing "Slime" in your tires as a precaution?
Hey, very helpful video. Thanks so much for posting. I'm new to ATVing so a list like this is much appreciated. Happy trails!

Good call on the oil. I used to do that on my older bikes but the so far the new ones are great, but still should carry it.

Thanks for the tips Bryan!! Always like to hear whatever one else is doing.
He’s got “bits and zap straps livin in his trunk”
I love Canadians😂
Can you explain to me how this is funny?
Not sure I understand?

The pulley system device is called a “snatch block”. I did not read the comments, just jotted this down. Nice video, great gear.

Your welcome. 👍
Good video bud. Good info in a short straight to the point format. Cheers

Just getting into ATVs. Very good info. Thanks

Hey thanks for the tips. I did get a small shovel and carry a sawyer now. Cheers.
Looks like you have it covered!
Thanks for this. Add a couple of life straws or water filter systems.
I sense got a sawyer mini. Thanks Michael.
Shovel, tow strap... great list
Yes. I shovel would have helped me once before. Thanks for sharing John.
Spare gas, fuses, tow strap, collapsing shovel, life boat rations, and a life straw would be my suggestions.
Thanks David. I did get a shovel now. Cheers.
In case someone hasn't said the black cable block is called a Snatch block thank you for the video
Nice good amount stuff a powersaw & spare oil gas for it or a handsaw and axe min i carry all lol cheers .

Good idea for the tow strap. Thanks Bryan.
Great list but I would add a booster pack jump starter especially when out alone .. crappy tire has them on sale a lot .. great video
Great point! Thanks
I felt like you were showing what I carry...lol I have a very similar set up.
Oh nice. Most of things is the baseline for ATV i'm sure. Just thought I'd show it and get some feed back from folks.
Well sir the "pulley thingy" is called a snatch block.

Great video...one item I would carry, and in a hloster around my waist/chest and not store away, is bear spray...ya just never know!
Bear spray is a good idea! Not something I carry yet myself but should get! Cheers
@@JoshuaGammon I'm in northeastern NB and we see bears and moose etc. on our trail so it's only being prudent to carry it.
@@BigredApril1951 I should get some for sure. Cheers 👍

I'm writtin the list down haha so I'll have it full time all the time ;P
Lol. 🤪
What kind of little compressor is that? A definite must have, I have one that does not quite fit in the front trunk. Can't close the lid. Great vid.
The air compressor is just a cheap one from Canadian Tire. Thanks Evets
What mount do you use to hold ur garmin eTrex gps. Looking to do the same as you with mine
I don't use it now. But I believe it was RAM mounts
How do you use the block/pulley when winching? It’s pretty useless by itself.
Where did you get the trunk box ? What’s it called? , been googling can’t find anything like it.
i got this a long time ago. Not really sure the name now.
A small socket set would be handy also
Good idea. Thanks Mark!!
