👋what a wonderful, and inspirational video. You following your fathers passion for plants. Is your father able to share the concoction he uses to kill the bugs in the plants? I live in West Palm Beach FL and my plants are all outside. I bring some in the Summer, because its too hot and my patio gets too much sun. God Bless you all. thank you
Hi thanks for the tips. I just recently purchased a bop and I had a few questions I’m hoping you can answer. I live in a small studio apartment with three large windows that face SW. I’m stuck because I’d like to leave the plant there however due to the draft and ac vents pointing directly at the windows, I figured it wouldn’t be a great spot at least through winter. Additionally I’ve noticed the leaves curling inwards. Since then I’ve bought a full spectrum grow light and humidifier. My question is with the supplemented light, should I move the plant away from the window given the circumstances? I ask because i feel like it would be missing some good sun here and there and not sure if a grow light would be sufficient enough through winter. Also, during the spring and summer should I continue to use the grow light in conjunction with natural sunlight? Thank you I’m advance!
BOP is such a hard plant to diagnose. Curling leaves can mean the leaves are transpiring too quickly, and the plant needs more water. But they can also curl from over watering, or too much sun exposure. Your BOP will likely adjust to any light levels indoors so keeping your grow light on in the summer might be ok. Key thing is to focus on small incremental changes, monitor for a positive outcome. Repeat.
My b.o.p. was strong and beautiful. My mom suggested to put outside, which I tried. The stems went limb. She told me not to worry, although its barely getting strong again, it hasn't been the same. Any tips?
@@KillThisPlant its regular mix pit soil, has been for years. Its was outside with light but not direct sun when they drooped. @@c-gal7385 what was the initial temperature difference from indoors to outdoors when the plant first went out. How long did it take you to notice the plant started drooping
@@c-gal7385 very strange. I'm not sure. Unless it was not getting watered frequently enough with the transition outdoors, there must be some other issue we're not seeing. What about night time temps?
Hi. Sorry i have another question, if the strelitzia reginae is 5 & 1/2 yrs. old and has flowered/bloomed for the last 3 years in a row. Will the myth of repotting that could reset to 2 years to flower will still apply? I mean Does it happen to old/matured strelitzia reginae too? I am asking because i am planning to repot in the coming summer.
I've actually never heard of that regarding a BOP but I generally have a don't mess with it policy. If you really need to repot your plant, then you should. I don't know how it'll affect the flowers.
I kind of think your dad does need lighting on the ceiling in his grow room between the two skylights. It’s probably a lot darker in the center than you think, and adding a couple LEDs might make a big difference
If i were to use an airpot pot, with a heating mat, growlight, full sun, the right soil, seperate the plants, flower fertilizer and nematodes for pest i should get it to grow and live for once. This will be my next project

What is the concoction to kill the bugs?
I'm used to seeing these plants in gardens outside in the Australian sun so I'm surprised they work indoors at all tbh.
If i were to use an airpot pot, with a heating mat, growlight, full sun, the right soil, seperate the plants, flower fertilizer and nematodes for pest i should get it to grow and live for once.
This will be my next project
Best of luck!
Can it be grown indoors?
Because the temperature is 48 degrees in my country in the east in Iraq?
And why is this amazing plant so expensive!!
I exclusively grow my plants indoors.
