This is fucking incredible. Why the hell does this not have at least a few hundred thousand views? And why the hell did it take me exactly a year to stumble upon it? Half my youtube history is filled with retro gaming, the other half electronic music and Opie and Anthony
I've had this sitting on a Watch Later list for an entire year. I beat LA for the first time, and just came back to listen. That Game Over gave me goosebumps.
Why am I only now finding this video, in 2016!? I'm sure I need to kick myself a little for this big oversight. So excellent. Kept raising the bar throughout and somehow continually exceeded my expectations.
You're correct! I love the mix of flesh and tone. The freedom of it allows you to swing a little bit one way or the other to change articulation and let the notes you want to punch through. Still working on it though. :)
I must've listened to this over 20 times over the last 1-2 days. It's just perfect. My fav part starts at 3:34. Your facial expression at 3:43 is awesome too. I love watching musicians when they get into the stuff they're doing. Keep it up man, you're fucking awesome.
I literally have no idea why I haven't seen this until now. This was one of my first games and you're one of my favorite cover artists. Your Tal Tal Heights is badass and Ballad of the Wind Fish nearly brought me to tears because of the sheer nostalgia. Amazing medley!
Considering that Link's Awakening is my favorite Legend of Zelda game, it should be no surprise that I absolutely loved the shit out of this medley. Seriously, every segment was fantastic, especially the Mysterious Woods one. I heard that song so much when I was a youngster, since, when I first started playing, I was rather bad at the game. Thus, nostalgia bombs were dropped.
Michael Anderson I totally understand. Link's Awakening was my first as well and one of the nearest to my heart - I played it legit without guides over the course of five years when I was just nine - so much of the music is a nostalgia trip!
When I saw Ballad of the Windfish on the list of songs I thought "Oh, no. Someone's going to butcher one of my favorite songs." Boy, was I wrong. Leading with the acoustic was definitely a good choice. If it were outright, electric then it might have ruined one of my favorite aesthetics of it. The slow build from usual, calm, and sweet that it is to the, time to finish this, was very well executed. Very nice.
Somebody said on another one of your videos about how you appear to enjoy playing the music in your videos. Can I just say myself, I can see exactly what they mean, and it's such a pleasure to see someone who is clearly very very good at their chosen art, enjoy performing it so much!
Hooooly Criminey! This is THE first cover of Links Awakening I've ever heard that actually used that tune in the VERY VERY beginning with the storm at sea! Awesome work!
The Tal Tal Heights arrangement gave me goosebumps--i've always loved that theme. Your ocarina cover of Ballad of the Wind Fish quite literally brought tears to my eyes. I wish i could give you more than one like and favorite.
I have no idea what this mix was like before, but congrats on making a perfectionist get chills up and down his spine. This game defined my childhood and my love for video games, and you brought back memories of me putting the Game Boy speaker next to my ear under the covers at night just so I could hear that amazing music.
Well Jules, you really outdid yourself on this one. Your "A Link To The Past" was my favorite medley so far, but this one just took the lead even tho this isn't my favorite Zelda game. Great job!
Holy mother of god! When you flawlessly pulled off that part in Mysterious Woods, my jaw hit the core of the earth! That was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! You have a lot of skill Jules!
with in the last 20 minutes you have completely shocked me... I wish I had known about your channel sooner.... it's just amazing bad ass nerdiness and I can officially die happy ... you have an amazing talent sir
I think I watch his videos at least twice. Once for the music, Twice just to watch his facial expressions while he plays. That is a man who loves his games and music.
DUDE!! I've lost track of how many of your epic remix's iv'e listened to, but this one stands out like a peacock in a flock of geese! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, JULES!!
I've always felt Links awakening has been forgotten - People usually go for Ocarina of Time, Majoras mask or Wind waker as their fav Zelda game. Personally, I have a hard time picking either Majoras mask, or Links awakening - Both amazing games.
This was a fucking great medley! The Bottle Grottle section was badass, and the entire arrangement was well done. I loved the ending, it's one that stays in your head even after the video is over. Nice job on this one Jules, I think it's one of your best medleys!
Everytime you release a new video, I HAVE to go pickup my guitar again, it's the only time I play it as well. Keep up the good work, Jules! Looking forward to the rest of the year! -Zack1stclass
I grew up with the original GameBoy and Link's Awakening was one of the few games I had and my first foray into the Zelda series. Hearing this is soooo nostalgic. Keep up the good work :)
I never played Link's Awakening, but some songs, in this case Overworld, Bottle Dungeon, mini-boss and boss battle themes are also in the Oracle games. Oracle of Seasons was the first video game I ever owned, so those themes really bring me back, and you really did them justice. And yeah! This version of the Overworld theme is the best!
This was awesome as hell. I just finished playing Link's Awakening DX recently, also finished watching an LP of it. This inundation of Link's Awakening love is just awesome.
1:15 - Tal Tal Heights is one of my favorite Game Boy (or possibly video games period) tunes ever. I used to just sit and listen to it on my original GB when the game was new (early '90s) and I was a teenager.
LOVED THIS GAME, and you sir have done a great job covering it. I remember being really happy hearing all the magical instruments come together for the ballad of the windfish. Awesome dude, OH and I'm still hoping for a cover of Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link!!
One of my favorite Zelda games!!! First one I ever played, when I got my gameboy color! Insane mix man! the quality is crazy, keep up the amazing work!!!
Very well done. I think the overworld theme from Link's Awakening is the most intricate overworld them out of all the games, and my favorite. Just my opinion. Great job.
That was incredible! Definitely my second favorite medley you've done! (First being Pokemon Snap ;3 ) You nailed Game Over. I could listen to that on loop for hours. Keep it up!
Brilliant as always man! I know it'll likely never happen, but you should totally get a band together and book gigs with gaming conventions! I know plenty of folks who'd love your arrangements to no end!
holy shit... today I heart this song on headset for the first time... in the bus... I couldn't stop smiling! goose bumps of hell ^^ oh and by the way... you've got awesome bass skills... I'm a bassist and I'm always impressed by your style! just love your videos ^^
I'm so glad you made this, Link's Awakening was one of my favorite games as a kid. This brings back a lot of good memories and makes them even better by making a badass metal version. :D Great job man. :)
This is fucking incredible. Why the hell does this not have at least a few hundred thousand views? And why the hell did it take me exactly a year to stumble upon it? Half my youtube history is filled with retro gaming, the other half electronic music and Opie and Anthony
A lot of people were complaining about the mixing. I usually wouldn't re-upload but people really seemed upset about it.
I've had this sitting on a Watch Later list for an entire year. I beat LA for the first time, and just came back to listen.
That Game Over gave me goosebumps.
Why am I only now finding this video, in 2016!? I'm sure I need to kick myself a little for this big oversight.

same dude cept im a year after you :P
Lol same here... cept in 2018... this dude is probably famous and i dont even fucking know. Ah, life.
2018...😥
You're correct! I love the mix of flesh and tone. The freedom of it allows you to swing a little bit one way or the other to change articulation and let the notes you want to punch through. Still working on it though. :)
Tal tal heights and bottle grotto man epic as ever
These are two of my favorite themes in this game, so glad he put those two in there. xD

That Tal Tal Heights Soundtrack always gives me shivers, so many memories *-*
Glad I wasn't the only one who went through the bottle grotto and thought, man, when this shit kicks in, it's metal as fuck
If someone had rescued the windfish, it would have been you. That was so beautiful, I have tears in my eyes.
The Ballad of the Wind Fish always makes me well up.
finally a link's aweakening cool one in the guiar , tnks sir , just fucking love this game , sure you just waked the wind fish xD
Sword search will probably always be one of my favs
ThePixelatedPolygons Same
Same
Watching this 7 years later and I still love it!
rewatching it that is. lol
One word: WOW!!! The Ballad of the Wind Fish almost had me crying, man! You're freaking awesome!
Tal Tal Heights, Mysterious Forest and Bottle Grotto... So EPIC! But I NEED a Tal Tal Heights extended version...
Definitely! Thank you, I'm actually studying Classical Guitar in college myself. :)
Nice shirt Jules. Oh, and nice medley too.
I must've listened to this over 20 times over the last 1-2 days. It's just perfect. My fav part starts at 3:34. Your facial expression at 3:43 is awesome too. I love watching musicians when they get into the stuff they're doing.

I really like your profile picture, FMA is just fantastic :3
Jasmine Sweeney Thanks! It doesn't get better than Alphonse and Riza. :D
Yeah hahaha I love Winry too.
Michael Anderson I totally understand. Link's Awakening was my first as well and one of the nearest to my heart - I played it legit without guides over the course of five years when I was just nine - so much of the music is a nostalgia trip!
This was my favorite Zelda game and you did it perfectly. Thank you
4:45 This riff is so heavy it crushed my mind under the awesomness.
OMG sword search acoustic FTW! Such an undercovered song, one of the most beautiful in the entire series imo!
As soon as I saw this in related videos, I started to cry.
That miniboss theme was pure madness. And that ballad of the windfish - so beautiful. you really made the most out of those nostalgic 8 bit tunes.
I like all of your work, Jules, but god damn... this is the best thing I've ever seen in video game covers ever. Hands down. Amazing.
When I saw Ballad of the Windfish on the list of songs I thought "Oh, no. Someone's going to butcher one of my favorite songs."
Boy, was I wrong. Leading with the acoustic was definitely a good choice. If it were outright, electric then it might have ruined one of my favorite aesthetics of it. The slow build from usual, calm, and sweet that it is to the, time to finish this, was very well executed. Very nice.

That was amazing. The ballad of the wind fish section at the end was great. Done the soundtrack to one of my favorite games a great justice.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening remake brought me here :)
I look forward to listening to the remade soundtrack. This game has some of the best music.
Great job!
The Ballad of the Windfish, your version, it has the feeling that the game tried to give the players, and that's great. Good work man =)
Holy mother of god! When you flawlessly pulled off that part in Mysterious Woods, my jaw hit the core of the earth! That was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! You have a lot of skill Jules!
After 5 years, this is still the pinnacle of VGM. Literal gold on this one Jules
with in the last 20 minutes you have completely shocked me... I wish I had known about your channel sooner.... it's just amazing bad ass nerdiness and I can officially die happy ... you have an amazing talent sir
This is one of my favorite soundtracks the Legend of Zelda had. I really liked the fame too.
Oh my God it's been some years I waited for a Metal Medley of Zelda LA ! You're my hero !
I think I watch his videos at least twice. Once for the music, Twice just to watch his facial expressions while he plays. That is a man who loves his games and music.
Let's be fucking honest. Bottle Grotto was begging for a metal version

I know I have already commented, but everytime im listening to this i realize how much I love that Games OST and how AWESOME this Medley is.
This is the best musical tribute I have ever seen for Links Awakening.
I don't know HOW you manage to make me feel nostalgic about games I've never played, but you seem to do it a lot!
The jump from Overworld to Tal Tal heights is the best one you've ever done! It's incredibly smooth ;)
1:53 made me so happy. This whole thing just brings me back - great! Thanks
I've always felt Links awakening has been forgotten - People usually go for Ocarina of Time, Majoras mask or Wind waker as their fav Zelda game. Personally, I have a hard time picking either Majoras mask, or Links awakening - Both amazing games.
Yeah, I absolutely love Links Awakening too! Play it again at the Moment, after playing it 20 Years ago! Its still as much Fun as at the first Time
This is how I feel too. Awakening and Majora are my favorites.
Because they shake up the formula, at least a little bit.
Never too late to express your love for this game.
True indeed :3
I love OoT but Link to the Past is definitely one of my all time favorites
This is the most metal thing ever done to my childhood. You are a god, sir.
This was a fucking great medley! The Bottle Grottle section was badass, and the entire arrangement was well done. I loved the ending, it's one that stays in your head even after the video is over. Nice job on this one Jules, I think it's one of your best medleys!
By far my favourite of all your videos, loved the game and I've never heard its soundtrack arranged so well, Love it!
Your new mixing/mastering technique sounds much better than the old way and it really helps to beef up the covers! Amazing job once again!

this is genius and gorgeous, really and i think that the ballad of the wind fish part was especially great
I love how you play the instruments, the passion you put in them... It's admirable...
Honestly I love all of your covers but I think this is the best one. I love the way it was done.
You always look like you are just having the time of your life playing your music. I love it!
This video is your very best work in my opinion. Out-of-this-world exquisite!!!
This was awesome as hell. I just finished playing Link's Awakening DX recently, also finished watching an LP of it. This inundation of Link's Awakening love is just awesome.
One of your best medleys! I'll be listening to this for a long time
1:15 - Tal Tal Heights is one of my favorite Game Boy (or possibly video games period) tunes ever. I used to just sit and listen to it on my original GB when the game was new (early '90s) and I was a teenager.
nice pic in the background, who drew it????????/
Awesome work man. Just love everything, specially the Ballad of the Wind Fish finish, simply beautiful.
LOVED THIS GAME, and you sir have done a great job covering it. I remember being really happy hearing all the magical instruments come together for the ballad of the windfish. Awesome dude, OH and I'm still hoping for a cover of Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link!!
One of the greatest medleys you can find.
Very very great! I just have to listen to it again and again :D
Love Sword Search and Bottle Grotto, really well done. I just missed a cover of the final battle against the Nightmares.

the "game over" brought me to tears
that ending made me cry like a freaking baby :')
Very well done. I think the overworld theme from Link's Awakening is the most intricate overworld them out of all the games, and my favorite. Just my opinion. Great job.
Needed to listen to this cover again, once I heard nintendo is remaking Link's Awakening 😀🎸⚡🎸⚡
Other than how amazing your covers sound, I love how much fun you look like you're having while you play. It's really infectious!
I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH! And its OST. And this Medley. And your Work!
Congratulations on now being my favorite person on TH-cam.
Here after the remake, had to say that the 2nd dungeon music is NAILED. Serious palms you got and incredible tempo, no wonder you got so far :)
That was incredible! Definitely my second favorite medley you've done! (First being Pokemon Snap ;3 ) You nailed Game Over. I could listen to that on loop for hours. Keep it up!
You have mad skills on that ocarina bro. Beautiful, just beautiful!
I haven't even gamed in years, I just love your covers and think you're an amazing musician.
The Boss Battle part is pure power! Awesome as always :)
Brilliant as always man! I know it'll likely never happen, but you should totally get a band together and book gigs with gaming conventions! I know plenty of folks who'd love your arrangements to no end!
holy shit... today I heart this song on headset for the first time... in the bus... I couldn't stop smiling! goose bumps of hell ^^

I'm so glad you made this, Link's Awakening was one of my favorite games as a kid. This brings back a lot of good memories and makes them even better by making a badass metal version. :D Great job man. :)
So much emotions and nostalgia in your music, thanks dude ! It makes smile !
