- Philadelphia Freedom is another of Elton John's number one hit singles. The song was released in 1975 by request of tennis player Billie Jean King. She was playing for a tennis team called The Philadelphia Freedoms, and Elton and Bernie Taupin wrote the song for her.
The song is a frequent part of the live set, and especially the solo versions are different from the band version. This covers focuses on the solo version from 2008.
