It took my couple days to finish the level goddamn game itself is already hard but with this level the game's difficulty level becomes 9000 and that was just the ps2 version!

I loved this level because it was hard. It made me happy the final level was actually hard. its something devs are hesitent to do, due to casuals, but even a casual can do it with enough practice.
This stage being this hard actually makes thematic sense, after all, wouldn't Eggman's heaven of a place with order and control, HIS control, be HELL for someone like Sonic, who's all about freedom and running faster than the wind? This song also really hammers down the fact that this place should NOT exist, and you're the one who's gonna have to destroy it. The hardest stage of the Sonic franchise being Eggmanland is such a simple but brilliant concept, and I really like how they went down about making it here.

i really love this stage. Sure. it's hard, but as a final level, it SHOULD be hard. this level tests everything you've learned; properly boosting, quickly reacting to obstacles, drifting, QTEs, 3D and 2D platforming, and doing Werehog combat as efficiently as possible. This and SA2 Cannon's Core are examples of how final levels should be made in sonic games
The fact that this level is hard also makes it all the more satisfying to S rank, especially after beating up 3 titans at the end in a row. The fact of the matter is, getting to see a results screen at the end pop up that says you beat the level in 25 minutes and an S rank is one of the best feelings ever. The art design and graphics of this level are also amazing, very fitting that a stage called Eggmanland is this hard and also this fun.
I'd say this level even has a bit of something that someone would like regardless of difficulty. As a young kid (about 10-12?) i had issues coping with fast regular sonic and not slipping to my death at high speed areas, fortunately this level isn't too frequent with those so i didn't struggle too badly. I specialised in Werehog mode however and had done excessive amounts of xp grinding for abilities and learning new and experimental combos. I didn't even use the Guard feature for defence, i worked faster and sought to interrupt enemies more often but leave chances to move out, then grab hold of a straggler or group and pound them to stagger them. Only part i had issues that i distinctly remember today is those jank camera +pipe tightroping sections. Camera was bad without a doubt, but at least managable. Anyone who favours one playstyle over the other would have their moments of satisfaction in the level. In fact the level took so long that the time blended together in my head. I just kept going and kept progressing even through trial and error, and more challenges kept coming. Eggmanland really is a park: there's all kinds of content for different people to enjoy (and suffer by).
I'm probably not the only one who thinks this, but does Eggman have a thing for amusement parks? They've been seen here and there, but more notably in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors. did he like, have a thing for this when he was a kid or something?
Probably some childhood thing. Making the world into his "Eggmanland" has always been his brainchild and one of his ultimate goals in this evil schemes. I'd like Sega to explore more of Dr. Eggman's history.

But if you look back even as far as the first game, the manual will describe how Dr. Ivo Robotnik (nicknamed Dr. Eggman) wanted to rule the world via animal-turned-robots and his Death Egg to ultimately make the world into "Eggmanland", a world made in his image and under his full control. His grandfather is a whole other aspect of lore that's extremely interesting, but may be a bit separate from Eggman now. I think at the end of Adventure 2 Eggman mentioned something about renouncing his grandfather's plans and motives.

I thought it was crimson carnival too, but if you go to eggmanland after playing it, I realized that it´s actually called Eggmanland. If you stand up in the level platform It won´t say the level, like in the case of any other level (for example: Apotos is Windmill Isle and Empire City is Skyscraper Scamper) but in this case, the village has the same name of the level.

that horrible, twisted sound right at the beginning of the song is one of my favorite parts of the entire thing. it's only used there a single time, and though it's so quick and easy to pass over, it instantly brings you to attention and puts you on your toes in less than a second and perfectly sets up the tone. it's just such a memorable addition to me
Best final level in a Sonic game, you really have to play it a lot to master it. I remember it took me and my brother 72 minutes back in 2008, now I finish it in 15. Love this stage.

I always thought Eggman Land was a really cool level. All these years Eggman has wanted to create Eggman Land off the destruction he makes and now his dream has finally come true. Man, Sonic Unleashed truly feels like the end of an era.

I don't think most people actually hate it. They just say that as a way to express how hard it was for them. I honestly loved this level and the DAYS I spent trying to get that S rank, even if at the time I'd have claimed to "hate" it in frustration.
Ah, Eggmanland, the level that puts the fear of God into many a player of Sonic Unleashed. Without question, the most difficult level in the game, as well as being the longest, and I loved every second of it. It's the ultimate test of your skills learned throughout the game. You have both 2D and 3D platforming, grind rails, reacting to quick-time events efficiently with death usually awaiting you if you fail. There's fun Werehog sections with some platforming, even the bobsled from Cool Edge makes a return. It challenges you on every single front, and that's how a final level should be handled.

Indeed. A good balance between both play styles, great environment and atmosphere, fun set pieces and an overall amazing send-off as the final level of the game.
ok this song totally embodies hedgehog against army. This stage is long hard unforgiving but incredibly well designed and this is probably one of the best final acts in platformer history.
I just realized, Eggmanland has the same kind of gameplay structure as a final level similar to 06's End of the World. Both level designs have gimmicks that are meant to test everything you've learned so far throughout the game. They require you to play every character(sonic and blaze the exception) to get through the level.
okay, it's not THAT hard, i only had like 80 something lives and beat both eggmanland AND all the bosses after and ended with around 10. not even a single game over, sure it's a lot of lives but still no game overs. in fact, i never got a game over at ANY point. even before my main attempt, it was a new save file.
I love Sonic Unleashed and coming from someone who has gotten S rank on everything except this level, I can appreciate it for actually being a difficult modern Sonic game. Like the game is amazing overall and the were-hog levels weren't that bad for me, I primarily enjoyed playing the night levels due to the music and how relaxing it was compared to daytime, but hey, that's a subjective topic.
If you want to S rank this stage, you can get it pretty easily even if you die and respawn in the second part of the boiler room, but you can probably S rank the level after dying a lot later because you can get an A rank from the last checkpoint

Ever since SA1 Eggman stated he wanted to bulid "Robotinkland" (Or Eggmanland since thats what everyone calls him now) as its the brianchild to his amibtions and genius. People say this game is mediocre, yet on THIS mediocre game, we finally got to see the villain almost achieving the success he always wanted. If this is mediocre to you, then you just have no taste.
Honestly, I think this is the best boost formula game, and I've only played the Wii version. I'm gonna specifically point out the HD version despite never playing it, though. There's genuine challenge! Generations hardly challenged me at all, same with Colors. And Forces... well, I don't really give a fuck about Forces.
I remember playing this on my wii, I couldn't get past THAT ONE FLIPPING SHARP TURN! I was going to play and finish it the next day, but then my little sister broke my wii by forcefully pushing in 2 discs at the same time. And I never got to finish Sonic Unleashed. ;v; I'm trying to find the 360 version currently ;;
Pikapower really what was the point of that mission? It took me 50 lives to beat the level with a B rank and they'd expect me to beat it AGAIN on a time limit without checkpoints?

remember as a kid getting around halfway through this stage and then having to get off cause it was my bedtime & i had school the next day. left my xbox overnight & all day just so i could beat it. i got a game over as soon as i came back to it lmao

In fact, I thought it would be hard af and it would take me hours to beat it, but it only took me 39 minutes with an A rank on my first try. Very climatic for the last level of this awesome game!
Just for anyone that’s just started the game and is having a look at the soundtracks. This stage is arguably the hardest modern sonic stage so as a guy who’s been through this, be warned because you’re about to feel the current.
@Vybz It's frustratingly hard if you do it legitimately, but if you speedrun Eggmanland, it's WAY easier and shorter, it took me 12-14 minutes to beat it just by speedrunning the stage.
This level is a tortuous marathon, and I LOVE it for that. Battletoads is remembered because Turbo Tunnels gave headaches to both the toads and the players. Cynthia is remembered because her Garchomp was conceived in Hell and smells like the Grim Reaper. And I will always remember this level because it’s a perfect depiction of Eggman’s personal dystopian paradise. I wish we had more levels like this at the end of the games, like a Sonic version of Champion’s Road.
crazy how it took well over a decade for this to be topped as the hardest challenge in the franchise, with the hardest thing now being Master Coco's trial on Hard or Extreme before the major patch (for those in the future, this was before Sonic X Shadow gens, idk if that thing is gonna revolutionize difficulty or what)
For people complaining about how long and hard the level is, well, duh. Eggmanland is Eggmans biggest plan and the entire thing serves the singular purpose of killing Sonic. Think of it like the endgame of all the Sonic adventure games since that was the end goal for Eggman, it will only make sense that the final level of such grandiose design would test Sonic to his absolute limit at best and at worst kill him once and for all.
To be fair, they were about the same length in total to the HD version's main stage. At least if you got a game over during Eggmanland in the SD version, it was split up so you could actually try again from the last level you were at.
One of my greatest achievements in all of gaming was beating all of the hot dog stand missions for this stage. Words cannot describe the sheer euphoria I felt when I finally did it. Never give up, folks.
Ironically Sonic Unleashed uses a sample from the final boss of Zero Gravity in the Werehog Boss theme too. I like to think of Unleashed as the Sister game of Zero gravity in terms of music c:

Best final level in a Sonic game, you really have to play it a lot to master it. I remember it took me and my brother 72 minutes back in 2008, now I finish it in 15. Love this stage.

I always thought Eggman Land was a really cool level. All these years Eggman has wanted to create Eggman Land off the destruction he makes and now his dream has finally come true. Man, Sonic Unleashed truly feels like the end of an era.

I don't think most people actually hate it. They just say that as a way to express how hard it was for them. I honestly loved this level and the DAYS I spent trying to get that S rank, even if at the time I'd have claimed to "hate" it in frustration.

Ah, Eggmanland, the level that puts the fear of God into many a player of Sonic Unleashed. Without question, the most difficult level in the game, as well as being the longest, and I loved every second of it. It's the ultimate test of your skills learned throughout the game.
You have both 2D and 3D platforming, grind rails, reacting to quick-time events efficiently with death usually awaiting you if you fail. There's fun Werehog sections with some platforming, even the bobsled from Cool Edge makes a return. It challenges you on every single front, and that's how a final level should be handled.

Fitting for one of the hardest stages in sonic history if not the hardest
Sonic Unleashed is quite honestly the pinnacle of great Sonic OSTs...every track captured the essence of the zones they represented
This really has that feeling of “No turning back now. Here I come Eggman. You’ll regret this.”

ok this song totally embodies hedgehog against army. This stage is long hard unforgiving but incredibly well designed and this is probably one of the best final acts in platformer history.
I just realized, Eggmanland has the same kind of gameplay structure as a final level similar to 06's End of the World.
Both level designs have gimmicks that are meant to test everything you've learned so far throughout the game. They require you to play every character(sonic and blaze the exception) to get through the level.

okay, it's not THAT hard, i only had like 80 something lives and beat both eggmanland AND all the bosses after and ended with around 10. not even a single game over, sure it's a lot of lives but still no game overs. in fact, i never got a game over at ANY point. even before my main attempt, it was a new save file.

I love Sonic Unleashed and coming from someone who has gotten S rank on everything except this level, I can appreciate it for actually being a difficult modern Sonic game. Like the game is amazing overall and the were-hog levels weren't that bad for me, I primarily enjoyed playing the night levels due to the music and how relaxing it was compared to daytime, but hey, that's a subjective topic.
If you want to S rank this stage, you can get it pretty easily even if you die and respawn in the second part of the boiler room, but you can probably S rank the level after dying a lot later because you can get an A rank from the last checkpoint

Ever since SA1 Eggman stated he wanted to bulid "Robotinkland" (Or Eggmanland since thats what everyone calls him now) as its the brianchild to his amibtions and genius. Honestly, I think this is the best boost formula game, and I've only played the Wii version. I'm gonna specifically point out the HD version despite never playing it, though. There's genuine challenge! Generations hardly challenged me at all, same with Colors. And Forces... well, I don't really give a fuck about Forces.

Just for anyone that’s just started the game and is having a look at the soundtracks. This stage is arguably the hardest modern sonic stage so as a guy who’s been through this, be warned because you’re about to feel the current.

It's frustratingly hard if you do it legitimately, but if you speedrun Eggmanland, it's WAY easier and shorter, it took me 12-14 minutes to beat it just by speedrunning the stage.

This game had the perfect tone of story in the series next to Adventure 2. Nothing too dark or edgy, but definitely not that light hearted either.
This level is a tortuous marathon, and I LOVE it for that. Battletoads is remembered because Turbo Tunnels gave headaches to both the toads and the players. Cynthia is remembered because her Garchomp was conceived in Hell and smells like the Grim Reaper. And I will always remember this level because it’s a perfect depiction of Eggman’s personal dystopian paradise. I wish we had more levels like this at the end of the games, like a Sonic version of Champion’s Road.
Whoever made it so that you cannot die in the hot dog missions clearly did not ever play this level
crazy how it took well over a decade for this to be topped as the hardest challenge in the franchise, with the hardest thing now being Master Coco's trial on Hard or Extreme before the major patch (for those in the future, this was before Sonic X Shadow gens, idk if that thing is gonna revolutionize difficulty or what)

For people complaining about how long and hard the level is, well, duh. Eggmanland is Eggmans biggest plan and the entire thing serves the singular purpose of killing Sonic. Think of it like the endgame of all the Sonic adventure games since that was the end goal for Eggman, it will only make sense that the final level of such grandiose design would test Sonic to his absolute limit at best and at worst kill him once and for all.

As hard as the damn HD Version's stage was, at least it was the ONLY one you had to play. SD Version players had multiple Werehog levels.
To be fair, they were about the same length in total to the HD version's main stage. At least if you got a game over during Eggmanland in the SD version, it was split up so you could actually try again from the last level you were at.
